The Statement:
President Obama said in a September 9 address to a joint session of Congress
that "Under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions."
The Facts:
At present, federal law allows funding for abortions in cases of rape, incest
and protecting the life of the mothers. And, that won't change under health
reform.
President Obama has made clear before that "nobody is talking about changing"
the Hyde Amendment, which allows funding for abortions in those specific
instances. A health care amendment passed by the House Energy and Commerce
Committee in July specified that federal funding of these three procedures
would be permitted in the proposed health insurance exchange.
"Under my amendment, no federal funds may be used to pay for abortions that are
not allowed by the Hyde Amendment, which, as you know, prohibits federal
funding for abortions except in the case of rape, incest, or to protect the
life of the woman," says U.S. Rep. Lois Capps, D-California.
The Verdict:
False. Obama didn't mention in his remarks Wednesday night that there is
federal funding for some abortion procedures under the current Hyde Amendment.

while the "abortion" word isn't mentioned in the health care bill neither is "appendectomy" or "aneurysm" or "angina" or "anemia" or "apoplexy" or... well, you get the idea.
on pages 767-768 of the current proposed health care bill as it talks about "home visits by trained nurses to families...eligible for medical assistance...services are effective....(1) improving maternal or child health and pregnancy outcomes or INCREASING BIRTH INTERVALS BETWEEN PREGNANCIES." This can certainly be open to interpretation. It doesn't specifically say 'contraceptives' and it doesn't exclude abortion which is used by a lot of people instead of a contrceptive.
See, this is one example of the abortion Yes or No debate.
Maybe this is where Wilson should have yelled out.
Or, Wilson ment the whole speech, not just illegals.

The Democrats need to apologize for wasting out time with that health care bill.
Republicans have to get away from this 'all abortions are evil' thing. They seem to only deal with absolutions, i.e. "if you're not with us, you're against us," "if you don't support the war, you don't support the troops," "any change you our current (failing) system will be socialism, communism, ect."
It's very disheartning to know that grown adults fail to see any grey area in life and social morality.
If an evil man, a rapist, take advantage of a woman and a pregnancy results, the woman is to be further punished by having to bear and support the rapist's child? Even if the baby is given up for adoption, the process to carry the pregnancy is costly and more emotional baggage the victim will now have to bear.
Withholding information for time reasons, when it's already outlined in the Hyde Amendment, is not a falsity, it's a red herring for the GOP to chase.

Never, Never, can this happen. This would be a political loss for any Pres. I voted for Obama, and like a lot of what he is trying to do for our country, but I am totally against abortion.

In addition to the three conditions by the Capps Amendment, H.R. 3200 leaves open the possibility of elective abortions at the discretion of the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Under Secretary Sebelius, is there any doubt if elective abortions will be paid for with tax dollars? But, then who knows what President Obama was talking about? Maybe H.R. 3200 ? Maybe not? He has gone to great lengths to not tell the American people what HIS plan is.
Well that means abortions will be paid out of pocket if its not in Obama's insurance plan.
It's easy to stop this.

I want all these town hallers shouting about abortions to start adopting all the children born out of rape and incest. And they also have to attend the bedside and/or funeral of each and every woman that dies due to the results of a problem pregnancy. Some women do die from health complications brought on by pregnancies - it's a sad reality. You talk to those familie and help heal those wounds. Bunch of fanatical nuts.
I go with the stance that I will never receive an abortion, but I will not stand in the way of a women having to make the decision. Abortions under the Hyde Amendment are extreme situations where abortions are permitted no questioned asked. Just make sure my tax dollars are not being spent on plastic surgery for no other purpose than I want it done. While the world needs more playboy bunnies let them pay for it themselves.

So if I can't afford health insurance and I use a Tax credit to help pay for my health insurance as outlined last night, then I can't get an abortion and have it covered by my health insurance ?
These are medical procedures that are legal and should be treated the same as any other procedure. No government between you and your doctor. Right repubs?
