Joe Wilson's outburst has resulted in a cash windfall for his 2010 Democratic challenger Rob Miller.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Joe Wilson's outburst has resulted in a cash windfall for his 2010 Democratic challenger Rob Miller.

According to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Miller raised $100,000 overnight from 3,000 individual donors after Wilson shouted "You lie!" at President Obama during his address to Congress on Wednesday night.

Miller released a statement last night accusing Wilson of "engaging in childish name-calling and disrespecting out Commander-in-Chief." Wilson's shout prompted Democrats on the Web to direct donors to Miller's Web site and to the Democratic fundraising site ActBlue.

Miller gave Wilson the toughest re-election challenge of his career last year in one of the country's most conservative congressional districts. Miller lost by eight points, and decided to challenge Wilson again next year.

Wilson apologized to the president after the speech, calling his comments "inappropriate and regrettable."

UPDATE: The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee reported Thursday morning that Miller's post-speech total had risen to $200,000.

UPDATE 2:45 pm: The DCCC reported Thursday afternoon that Miller's new post-speech total had risen to $400,000, via 11,000 individual contributions.

UPDATE: 5:45 p.m.: The DCCC reported Thursday evening that Miller post-speech total had risen to more than $500,000, via 14,000 individual contributions.

I cannot believe a grown man would disrespect the whole of the greatest country in the world by callling our President the Command-in-chief a liar on national television.Regardless of your feelings you have not set a very good example for the youth of America

Golly, imagine a dem calling bush a lier during one of his lackluster speeches. The perp would have been physically removed from the chamber and chastised for her/his outburst. At least Mr. Obama had the grace not to respond to this Wilson dope. But Wilson just goes to show the total disregard the repugs have for the office they hold as well as for the American people they were elected to represent.

Wilson should be ashamed of himself. Instead of offering an amendment prohibiting public option benifits for illegal aliens (since this seems to be his concern), Wilson would rather act like a three year old child. I don't live in South Carolina but I will be giving a donation to Wilson'a opponent to sent a message to Wilson about his inappropriate behavior.

Good for Rob Miller. Someone needs to take this idiot Joe Wilson out behind the woodshed. Or better yet, do I see a presidential ticket with Palin/Wilson in the Republican Party's future?

Hope those donations quadruple today. I will gladly travel our state working for Mr. Miller when his campaigning begins.
There are times when some good can come from something evil-in this case, I will no longer consider myself an Independent, I will now become a registered Dem. I will NEVER cast another vote for a Rep.

What Wilson did in front of the Prime Time Presidential address to the nation is what other GOP senators and house representatives have been doing since March 2009. Wilson is the FACE of GOP. Wilson is the BRAIN of GOP. Wilson is the HAND and LEGS of GOP. Wilson is the MIND AND MOUTH of GOP. Wilson Character is GOP Agenda for America.

On Tuesday President Obama told America's students to respect their teachers, to respect themselves. On Wednesday Congressman Joe Wilson publicly disrespected the President, his position as a member of Congress and all who were tuned in to hear the President not an ego maniac. I don't live in South Carolina and i really hadn't budgeted for any campaign donations. However, i will donate to Rob Miller's campaign to unseat Wilson. I am disgusted with the negativity and cynicism that prevails. Right now we desperately need role models in both political parties. Discipline and respect are pretty basic things we expect from young people. I hope Wilson will use his mistake in some instructive way. He owes that much to all of us.

This just shows that the town-hall tactics, disguised as grass-roots outrage, were actually from the Republican playbook.

A private apology from Congressman Wilson falls short of his disrespectful conduct towards the President last night. He not only should have been immediately removed from the floor but, he should also have made a public apology. He was so quick to make a public spectacle he needs to man up and make a public apology.

I am outraged at the disrespectful conduct the republican party is showing the president. From misrepresenting his talk to kids, to outright lying about healthcare reforms. I have NEVER seen a president treated so badly. There is definitely an EVIL undertone to their tactics and in the long run it is only going to backfire on them.

President Obama continues to show exceptional character and restraint and we will continue to life him up in prayer.

I simply can't understand why Wilson felt the need to apologize. He said out loud exactly what I blurted out at home while I watched that part of the President's speech. You can't get a more honest reaction than that and I like it.

Wilson's an officer in the reserves, he broke the law with his ridiculous behavior towards the Commander in Chief. Demote him.

Wave bye-bye Joe. This behavior is exactly what the president spoke about. You effectively "blundered" yourself in a way no others could. Nice work jerk. Thanks for being so obvious on a national scale. You have been "called out".

To the Greedy Old Party congresssional members – last night you looked like the idiots that you really have become, sitting there, carrying your stupid signs, texting, and not acting very statesmen like at all by way of Wilson. This president presented his vision of what he'd like the healthcare bill reform to look like in a clear and concise way, and debunked some of the lies that you, (who are supposed to be civilized and representatives for all the people in this country) have allowed to fester. You should all resign, effective immediately because of the lunacy and hatred that you have helped create among us citizens for the last 8 years and 8 months in particular. There was nothing unreasonable in the speech that President Obama made, and the main points are that his vision will not add anything to the deficit., and that the citizens deserve better and to pay less for healthcare premiums than we are currently being forced to pay. Competition for pharmaceutical and insurance companies is the key here stupids!

this man allows his hatred for the president to show in front of millions watching the speech all over the world. he is a loser and i dont know why people like this are representing the public. he should be ashamed of himself and pack his bag and go back to south carolina and appologise to them for being stupid

isnt it funny how obama can call palin a liar(in effect), but wilson gets all the negative coverage for doing what obama said he would do to his opponents i.e. "call them on it" ? shame on cnn for making wilson the center of the issue and running interference for obama, when it was obama actually telling whoppers....

That outburst was rude and childish. Did he think he was at a concert?
I can't remember a Democrat yelling out at Bush in his 8 years. He
sure did deserve it for the way he left the Country. I can't remember the Dems acting this childish and stupid. The sad part is some people don't think he did anything wrong. He was just speaking his mind. These people have kids! Just spreading ignorance thru out the world. Can't blame the kids when their role models are idiots.
He must can't read because the bill saids its not covering undocumented workers or illegal immigrants.

This man should not be an elected official of any rank. He showed such a lack of respect for the President that he should be barred from his office. Obviously, he has the IQ of a grapefruit and should not be taken seriously however he committed an "unpardonable" and should be made to pay a price for his bad behavior.

The other man with a sign around his neck that read "WHAT BILL" is equally as bad. What has happened with civility in the Congressional chambers? Seems like Republicans have become the rudest, crudest and most ill mannered people in our history. Wake up Republicans and look at what you are doing to destroy yourselves.
