The DNC is out with a new ad painting Gov. Pawlenty as a 'liar.'

WASHINGTON (CNN)– Ahead of President Obama's visit to Minneapolis Saturday, the Democratic National Committee is out with a new attack ad painting Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty as a politician attempting to appeal to the "extremists" in the Republican party.

"Tim Pawlenty is spreading lies about health reform," the nearly two-minute web ad charges.

The ad titled "Tim Pawlenty: In the extreme," is a compilation of interviews the Minnesota governor has given over the past few months in which he calls the President's health plan a "joke" and claims the bill "might affect end of life decisions."

Highlighting Pawlenty's recent campaign efforts for Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell, the ad accuses him of "campaigning for extremists."

Pawlenty, who was on Sen. John McCain's short list of vice presidential candidates, has also been rumored to be one of the leading Republican candidates running for president in 2012.

Friday, the Republican party of Minnesota released an ad calling President Obama's health care plan "risky," and urging him to "slow down and do health care reform the right way."

The President speaks in Minnesota Saturday at a health care reform rally that begins at 1230p CT/130p ET.

UPDATE: RNC Spokesman LeRoy Coleman released the following statement in response to the DNC ad:

“Once again, the Democrats are desperately trying to shift attention away from their extraordinarily unpopular health care plan – especially on a day when the President is bringing his traveling road show to Minnesota in an attempt to sell his floundering government-run health care proposal. Minnesotans, however, aren’t fooled by the rhetoric. The President’s government-run health care plan would increase costs, increase taxes, increase the deficit and reduce health care choice and quality.”

Republicans could care less about America. I have never heard any of these rich old men leading this band of rabble-rousers ever mention their concern for the middle class. Just the opposite, they bow to the lowest common denominator: fear. They try to scare old people and uneducated whites to be against any change. When in reality what they are really doing is protecting their own business interests and that is profiteering off of denying hard working Americans a chance for real quality health care.

I'm looking at all these Obama protestors out there, insulting our great country and the office of our President, they are saying things like Obama is lying, and "our grandkids are going to be paying for this (health care plan) ,and I'm wondering to myself... Where were these people when our country sent it's grandkids to fight to the death in the middle east over non-existent weapons of mass destruction? Where was your compassion for your grandkids then? WHERE WAS IT?

Let's face it. The radicalization of the Republican Party over the past 30 years has left it with nothing BUT exrtemists as its base. So its no wonder that Pawlenty has to appeal to exrtemists if he has any hope of running for the Republican nomination for president.

I see part time governor Timmy Kaine is working real hard for Obummer. I only wish he’d work just as hard for Virginia for a “change”.

The statement issued by the RNC chairman shows either a complete misunderstanding on his part of the measures being currently proposed, or a willingness to blatantly lie in order to block the plan (which, of course, raises questions over whether there are legitimate concerns, if he feels lying is necessary here). I'll let him say which it is.

As a Minn resident I'm totally embarrassed by Gov T-paw's recent behavior. Sounds to me like maybe you should resign like the Govenor of Alaska did – you're beginning to sound an awful lot like her. That's NOT a compliment!!!!

Most republicans are telling us lying because they are in the pocket of the insurance companies and now they are paying them back by trying to kill heath care reform.

    @ Leslie...

Please go back to watching Fix News. The US Health Care system is not the best in the world. Once would have to be and IDIOT to know know this. Ho9w can it be when you can literally become bankrupt from a broken finger. I AM AMAZED at how ILLITERATE some so many Americans are. They know absolutely NOTHING. And are usually selfish, BIGOT who care nothing about other American. How can the US have the best health care system when millions don't even have coverage. CINDY MCCAIN said the same thing on the TODAY show as well. She being a Multi Millionaire. Of course it's the best when you can money and a husband who's plan also cover you and happen to be a member of the U.S. Senate. The President is doing what he was elected to do. And morons like you who probably voted twice for the MORON who Bankrupt the country will never change because you are nothing but LOSERS who does not want this country to move forward.

Pawlenty is not lying, he is expressing valid concerns.
The only way to prove that the bill will not pay for abortions is for the bill to specifically say so and detail a process that will enforce it. Democrats have defeated Republican amendments that would do this.
The only way to prove that the bill will not pay for health care for illegals is for the bill to specifically say so and detail a process that will enforce it. Democrats have defeated Republican amendments that would do this.
The only way to prove that the bill will find 500 billion in savings by reducing waste and fraud in the current system is to specify exactly what that waste and fraud is and what specifically will be done to realize the savings. If Obama does not know these details, how can he possibly know the 500 billion in savings is real. If he can't detail this out, then he is just making stuff up.
The only way to prove the bill does not add one penny to the deficit is if it is scored by the CBO and the scoring proves it.
No bill should be voted on and passed into law before voters have a chance to understand the bill and determine if what is actually written in it measures up to what Obama and congress claims it does. No more rushing a bill into law before voters have a chance to vet and understand it. That has happened for the last time.

Hey folks. You on the left don't seem to realize free speech is just that and is available to everyone. It's not owned by the party in power. Gov. Pawlenty is just expressing the opinion of 53% of the American public. Obamacare is a joke and is totally unaffordable for the Nation. There isn't enough money in the world to sustain the mad spending binge the Democrats have been on for the last nine months.

Pawlenty is just what we no longer need in campaigns for national office: a socially conservative Bush clone who is deceitfully trying to portray himself as a moderate centrist. WATCH OUT FOR THIS GUY-HE'S ABOUT AS GENUINE AS A SARAH PALIN THREE DOLLAR BILL!

When Medicare was being debated in 1965, Republicans blasted it as "socialized medicine." Now, seniors angrily tell government officials to "keep their hands off our Medicare." One day seniors will angrily tell government officials to "keep their hands off our public option health insurance."
