WASHINGTON (CNN) – On the final stop of the Tea Party Express, thousands marched to the U.S. Capitol on Saturday to protest health care reform, higher taxes and what they see as out-of-control government spending.

The conservative advocacy group began their trip in Sacramento, California, and made its way across the country, hosting rallies in about 30 cities. Washington is the final destination. Members gathered on the west side of the Capitol on Saturday.

At each stop, the tour highlights members of Congress "who have voted for higher spending, higher taxes, and government intervention in the lives of American families and businesses," according to The Tea Party Express Web site.

One woman at the rally summed up her feelings about issues this way: "It's too much too fast."

A major theme of the rally was the push for less government.

"The government should be doing things that are authorized by the constitution; they should be doing things that the people want, not things that they just decide are nifty. We can't afford these things any more.

On a street corner yesterday I saw a man with a sign that read:

    "911 was an inside job"

When I first saw his sign, I found it hard to believe.
But it got me thinking. Remember how once we got close to getting bin laden, Bush called back the troops?
And Cheney's company, Haliburton, made a pile of money off the bogus war in Iraq.
Us taxpayers, in addition to paying for the wars "off budget," got left with a trillion dollar deficit because Bush/Cheney gave $800 billion in bailouts to the big banks so they could keep paying their CEO friends million dollar bonuses.

Now they say we have no money left to pay for healthcare for our own US citizens!

Hey, "911 was an inside job" -makes you think, doesn't it?
Look at who gained and who now has to pay.
Why don't Hannity and Limbough get outraged about this? Who pays their big fat salaries?

Obama and the Dems may not be perfect, but at least they have their hearts in the right place. They seem to be on the side of us regular US taxpayers and patriots.

This is the most partisan "bipartisan" group I have ever witnessed. Are they aware that BUSH passed the first (and by far the worst) economic stimulus package with the banks?

I live in Michigan-the Stimulus is actually working (shock to me as well). GM and Chrysler are beginning to hire again! These people need to realize that we got into this financial mess because of 8 years of republican rule. Clinton left office with a surplus....Obama inherited a huge deficit...

so I guess it is....Obamas fault? Hmmm...

The people in the Tea Party movement and who are showing up at Town Halls will be the force that pull our nation back from the brink of disaster. The direction of the liberal lead Washington are leading us over the cliff of no return with their out of contol spending and growth of government. If this is not stopped soon it will be too late. The debt will become so crushing that our economy will not be able to support it and we will not be able to raise taxes high enough without destroying our economy to pay for it. Obama and Pelosi are willfully destroying our nation.

Will the "deaf and blind to the wishes of the people" Congress and Obama LISTEN to these people? Probably not. They are becoming more arrogant each day and have forgotten just who and what they are supposed to be working for. Be aware....for every person that is in Washington opposing the BIG SPENDING of the Government and the Health Care that is proposed, there are HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS more at HOME privately CHEERING them on and wishing they could have joined them.

This IS a non-partisan rally. I know this for a fact.

The theme is "Our country deserves better"... So, let me get this straight... The health care lobby fighting against health care reform just happen to have $375. million dollars in the petty cash drawer to give the lobbyists to bribe...oops "influence" our politicians. Rick Sanchez reported that another Republican politician got caught in another sex scandal with a lobbyist. Our health care costs are through the roof and millions of Americans are losing their insurance monthy. We bailed out these insurance corporations so that our great great children will still be paying trillions of dollar of taxes for decades in the future. Then those corporations same corporations shamelessly continue to pay their CEO's and executives billions in bonuses after their failed corporations had to be saved by the government and our tax dollars. And you these thousands marching think someone ....even the government ...could do worse than this.

I guess our health care is so bad that we have thousands of Americans who are brain dead.

Not so many these "conservatives" religious extremists. Democrats and Obama should not look back on GOP. Most of GOP 'base' are undereducated poor souls. Good moderates should make a new, reasonable conservative party.

And where were all the TPs when George Bush thought his war was a "nifty idea?" You know, the war that has cost thousands of lives and billions of dollars. It stretches even the most fertile imagination that this is anything but a white rant against an African-American president. Yes, I'm white, but fortunately was brought up to have moral integrity.

Why do you folks ONLY report on conservative demonstrations? When 50,000 rallied at city hall in NYC on March 5th FOR big government (i.e. effective government working for working class individuals), I didn't hear a word from this newssite. Such buffet pickings of history distorts the reality of our political situation and gives disproportionately more voice to the GOP.
