WASHINGTON (CNN) – On the final stop of the Tea Party Express, thousands marched to the U.S. Capitol on Saturday to protest health care reform, higher taxes and what they see as out-of-control government spending.

The conservative advocacy group began their trip in Sacramento, California, and made its way across the country, hosting rallies in about 30 cities. Washington is the final destination. Members gathered on the west side of the Capitol on Saturday.

At each stop, the tour highlights members of Congress "who have voted for higher spending, higher taxes, and government intervention in the lives of American families and businesses," according to The Tea Party Express Web site.

One woman at the rally summed up her feelings about issues this way: "It's too much too fast."

A major theme of the rally was the push for less government.

"The government should be doing things that are authorized by the constitution; they should be doing things that the people want, not things that they just decide are nifty. We can't afford these things any more.

Where were these patriots when Buch declared war? During the Patriot Act? During the Bush tax cuts? Seems rather hypocritical...especially considering that the adminstration has pledged not to raise the deficit regarding health care. It's OK for higher taxes to fund killing people oversees, but not for helping them here at home?! Give me a break! These people aren't patriots, they're greedy.

EVERYONE TAKE NOTE . . . . at the number of "birthers" and "deathers" in this protest. Nearly all the protesters refuse to believe President Obama is a natural born citizen, even though Hawaii has his birth certificate on record. Nearly all of them required the President to screen his speech to the nation's students, although no other President (Republican or Democrat) need to do the same.

  4. Please remind me...

How many times did the "Tea Party Express" protestors rally during the eight years of the Bush administration, while Repuplicans spent spent spent away, giving millions and millions to private contractors? I'm sure this group would have been outraged by all of that government spending and increase in the national debt, right?

I wonder the size of this rally compared to other protests. I have a feeling that studies of this rally will show that it is merely a fraction of the size compared to other protests.

What happened to inviting Palin to be their party? I thought she was invited by the organizer. Oops....may be because the "Tea Party" does not pay her enough....

Being a veteran I dearly believe in the freedom to protest against our goverment. But, I wonder where these concerned citizens were over the last 8 years when our tax dollars were flying out the door like never before. Born and raised in Georgia in the 50's, I have seen this type of prostest before, only with hoods and burning crosses.

Hurrah for the protestors. obama does NOT allow disagreements so the people have to stand up to him. Thank you PROTECTOIRS of our money and rights to vote for our own needs – NOT one mans blatant waste of OUR money. mr. obama has had free government care and education his entire life – he doesn't have to take OUR money, too.

I would like to know why these huge rallies going on across our country BY THE PEOPLE – DEMS & REPUBS & INDEPENDANTS – coming together to tell Washington where we need to be. . . why is it that CNN is not covering this, but instead beating healthcare over the head repeatedly – done is done, there's nothing new here. I want to see the PEOPLE'S AGENDA, NOT CNN'S. You are supposed to be reporting the NEWS! Healthcare isn't News at this point – the rallies are THE NEWS! GET WITH THE PROGRAM!!

Why isn't CNN reporting THE NEWS! WHAT'S GOING ON IN WASHING DC! The People of this country are coming together – Dems and Repus & Independants and you're ignoring us to report ENDLESSY on healthcare. Healthcare is not news – it's the President's agenda. And yes, we' re all going to get behind fixing it – but for crying out loud – get some BALANCE in your news and listen to the people!

Who are these people who have the time and money to travel around and protest? Will this country ever be run by true moderates instead of the extremes? One extreme leaves office and the other takes over. No middle ground, no true independents anymore.

Where were these idiots 8 years ago when the Bush administration and the republican congress did nothing but expand our government (Dept. of Homeland Security, warrentless wiretaps, invading people's privacy, trying to be the world's bully)? Oh yeah, they were cheering it on and calling anyone who thought differently "anti-american", "communists", "terrorists" and any other name they are calling the other side now...

    How grand of them..

Have you noticed how coverage of these rallies always invariably shows a homogeneous sea of white faces? I'm watching Obama's speech in MN right now and there's every shade imaginable in the audience.

    STARK, STARK CONTRAST.

The GOP is the reason the U.S. is the laughing stock of the world. This once great nation has slowly lost it's credability with the likes of Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, and the uneducated people that listen to them.

For all you Americans who need healthcare, Shut up!!! The only reason you think our great President is moving too fast is because you are use to Republicans not moving at all on you behalf! You just can't get used to the idea that our President is the President of the American people, NOT just the rich Republicans! Stop being influenced by their nonsense! For all you Christians who name the name of Jesus Christ and are demonstrating with these tea parties, GO HOME AND PRAY FOR YOUR PRESIDENT! STOP TEARING HIM DOWN! YOU WILL REAP WHAT YOU SOW! And for the rest of you idiots, SHUT UP!!

Good for them, the Congress is paying attention even if the MSM is just now starting to give them some respect.

By the way, where is the story about the anti abortion protester who was gunned down. Where is the outrage, where is the horror from the left and the MSM?????
