Media shut out from Palin's Hong Kong speech

(CNN) – Sarah Palin's speech to investors in China later this month will be closed to the media, organizers of the event confirmed to CNN Monday.

The former Alaska governor is set to address the annual CLSA Investors' Forum September 23, though the group is also declining to reveal the topic of the former GOP vice presidential candidate's closed-door speech.

"We are not disclosing the topic of Sarah Palin's presentation at this point," said Simone Wheeler, head of communications for CLSA.

Wheeler said much of the four-day forum, which includes more than 200 presentations, is closed to the media except for a handful of keynote addresses where the speakers have specifically allowed members of the press to be invited.

Palin, whose lack of foreign policy credentials was criticized by Democrats during the 2008 campaign, apparently was not among those speakers willing to grant members of the media access to her speech.

"For keynote presentations, it is the speaker's decision as to whether or not their sessions are closed. Several of our keynotes this year are not open to media," Wheeler said.

There has been speculation Palin could receive upwards of six figures on the speaking circuit, though the organization is remaining tight-lipped on that matter.

"We never disclose if, or how much, our speakers are remunerated," Wheeler said.

Cool ;-) .....she'll only make a fool of herself to 500 (or so) people instead of a national (or international) audience!

If she is cashing in this much when she was just a candidate, how much would she had cashed in on if elected.

Who says ignorance does not pay in this society?

I guess her "handlers" haven't yet figured out that the invitation was the sort of stunt that the CLSA is known for. In the past, they have invited fortune tellers, cartoonists and sports announcers to give keynote addresses. Someone should clue them in on the joke. I guess her prank phone call from "President Sarkozy" still hasn't set in.

Are we really that concerned? Some industrious young dude with a cell phone or digital dictaphone will record it and expose her abject silliness to the light of day (and reasoned thought)...not to worry. Can't wait to hear her try to pronounce some Chinese with that hyped-up pseudo-folksy accent she hams. The whole thing should be priceless.

Will she tell them she wants Tibet immediately given its freedom and independence? I mean, she's one of the ones who took every opportunity to criticize Obama for not likewise crapping on foreign relations by acting in an over-assetive self-righteous manner...shouldn't she be leading the way and showing us how real arrogance should be performed?

    Everbody in the poool!!! WHEEEEEE!!!!:

At the risk of stating the obvious: She doesn't want the media there so that her debacle will not be catalogued into posterity, and various You-tube impersonators. In regards to her speech topic not being disclosed: she DOESN'T have one, so what is there to disclose? Her presentation will be more along the lines of an extemporaneous speaking contest, where she'll come up with a topic at the last minute and ....run with it!

Of course she doesn't want the media there. She knows they'll report on how stunningly ignorant she'll come across and how embarrassed the CLSA will be once they realize what a mistake it was to waste money on bringing her in to speak.

OMG, Sarah Palin talking to the Chinese investors on behalf of what?!? They are going to be just as dumfounded and confused and I am after hearing her babble on and on sounding as dumb as ever. Who in the heck wants her to represent our country or anything in China anyway? No me!! She needs to explain how she quit her job in the middle of the first term (governon) and disappointed the people of Alaska who voted for her, instead of trying to look important.
    OMG!

Who cares what she says! I won't waste my time listening to her unintelligent ravings. I don't understand why CNN keeps giving this idiot coverage. She's not news worthy and is a non event. Why anyone would waste their money to pay this dingbat to give a speech is unbelievable!
