Media shut out from Palin's Hong Kong speech

(CNN) – Sarah Palin's speech to investors in China later this month will be closed to the media, organizers of the event confirmed to CNN Monday.

The former Alaska governor is set to address the annual CLSA Investors' Forum September 23, though the group is also declining to reveal the topic of the former GOP vice presidential candidate's closed-door speech.

"We are not disclosing the topic of Sarah Palin's presentation at this point," said Simone Wheeler, head of communications for CLSA.

Wheeler said much of the four-day forum, which includes more than 200 presentations, is closed to the media except for a handful of keynote addresses where the speakers have specifically allowed members of the press to be invited.

Palin, whose lack of foreign policy credentials was criticized by Democrats during the 2008 campaign, apparently was not among those speakers willing to grant members of the media access to her speech.

"For keynote presentations, it is the speaker's decision as to whether or not their sessions are closed. Several of our keynotes this year are not open to media," Wheeler said.

There has been speculation Palin could receive upwards of six figures on the speaking circuit, though the organization is remaining tight-lipped on that matter.

"We never disclose if, or how much, our speakers are remunerated," Wheeler said.

Such a shame that she continues to be involved in slightly suspicious events. Does nothing to enhance her credibility politically or personally.

They couldn't get Larry the Cable Guy or any other more intelligent comedian so they had to settle for poor picked on Sarah. Can't wait for the "I can also see Beijing from my front porch" line.

I guess we shouldn't see how badly she screws up the facts of what she is saying (or trying to say). I would be very curious to know how much she is being paid for this talk and what else is being covered - are the kids coming too?

Maybe she is plotting and does not want the American people to know. Or maybe she wants to keep her stupidity away from us. Too me that is a good thing. We do not need a lot of media hype trying to figure out what she think she is saying. I wonder if she can see Russia from there.

Of course the media is closed out – Palin always shows what an ignorant idiot she is when asked simple questions any normal person could answer easily. She is a joke and an embarrassment. The media needs to ignore her. The Republican party will NEVER let this nutjob near the 2010 campaign. She is a quitter, a loser, and now a NOBODY – so who cares what she does or says??? Please stop covering this moron. America is SICK of her! She hates the media so give her what she claims to want – NO MEDIA COVERAGE.

  9. Just sayin'

Palin is a private citizen giving a speech at a private event. Why is it surprising that the event is closed? I'm sure someone there will record it on their cell phone, release it to the media and then we will all eventually have the fun of analyzing the video.

Is that really a surprise to anyone? What could she possibly have to say of relevance? She'll mumble a few incoherent things and then wave her best beauty pageant wave and the crowd will swoon.

Thank you CNN. It's been a gut-wrenching week. The obligatory "Sarah Pailin Comedic Interlude" is much appreciated.

Back to Sarah: It is a good thing that her speech will be in Hong Kong this way she'll have no problem blaming the interpreters for making her sound incoherent. Can't you just hear her camp saying:' Ms. Pailin was mis-interpreted by the interpreter, she most definitely DID NOT say 'Welcome to Hong Kong, the capital of Africa!'.

Perhaps Palin is our secret weapon – have her talk to the chinese and follow her advice and see them fail?

Most don't understand what she is saying when she is addressing an English crowd. Imagine the puzzled looks from a Chinese audience. LOL

Considering how much prime realestate China owns in America, along with how much we have borrowed from them, I'm not surprised they want to hear what she has to say.

I think its appauling how she has been treated after running for one of the highest offices in the United States. There has never been a man who ran for VP whose character has been as assinated as hers has and continues to be.

    No I didn't vote for her . . .

If she can't stand the heat, stay IN the kitchen. And addressing a bunch of people in Hong Kong for pay is hardly a way of earning foreign policy experience.

It's Monday! Has the weekend left-wing propaganda monitor gone home?

Did you know your health care "reform" lie is going down in flames? Have you heard ACORN is imploding – big time? Have you read anything about the "Independent Medicare Advisory Council? Or do you still get all your "news" from just one channel?

  22. Putin Still Invading Airspace Between Palin's Ears

The reason being that she had nothing interesting to say of any real significance or substance. They already know that she can see Hong Kong from her house. They're probably as scared as everyone to find out she thought Africa was a country and didn't know it was a continent. She thinks Asia is a country, also, too!!!

The Rethugs like to call the rest of us "socialist", so maybe Palin's trip to China signals the rethugs change to communism. After all, with all the secret wire tappings on the American people...we had 8 years of living under a tyrrany anyway.
