Media shut out from Palin's Hong Kong speech

(CNN) – Sarah Palin's speech to investors in China later this month will be closed to the media, organizers of the event confirmed to CNN Monday.

The former Alaska governor is set to address the annual CLSA Investors' Forum September 23, though the group is also declining to reveal the topic of the former GOP vice presidential candidate's closed-door speech.

"We are not disclosing the topic of Sarah Palin's presentation at this point," said Simone Wheeler, head of communications for CLSA.

Wheeler said much of the four-day forum, which includes more than 200 presentations, is closed to the media except for a handful of keynote addresses where the speakers have specifically allowed members of the press to be invited.

Palin, whose lack of foreign policy credentials was criticized by Democrats during the 2008 campaign, apparently was not among those speakers willing to grant members of the media access to her speech.

"For keynote presentations, it is the speaker's decision as to whether or not their sessions are closed. Several of our keynotes this year are not open to media," Wheeler said.

There has been speculation Palin could receive upwards of six figures on the speaking circuit, though the organization is remaining tight-lipped on that matter.

"We never disclose if, or how much, our speakers are remunerated," Wheeler said.

How could Palin give a financial speech when she knows nothing of the topic? This woman is a train wreck, no nothing. Why do we continue to hear about this quitter? She cannot even finish her job as Gov. of Alaska, why is she giving advice to anyone?

The Chinese have been capitalizing on America's surplus of stupid politicians for quite a few years now. This is just another example of the same. I keep hearing about the merits of enabling other countries to compete in the world marketplace. So far no specifics aside from the unbelievable wealth conferred upon the very few. I'd bet Palin is cruising for some of that wealth to further her political ambitions,,same as the other politicians who have sold out the American worker.

They are closing it to the media because they don't want us to re-affirm that she don't know what she is talking about. Ha Ha.

Is the ENTIRE meeting closed to the media??? If not, then why is her portion closed to the media???

Since there is no media coverage, the media should stop as of NOW and not publish anything about the meeting.... CASE and POINT!!

She shut out the media because she knows that she will fail like all other interviews. This woman will not give up. If the republicans like her so much let her become president of their own country once they leave the real United States Of America. They can then let whomever they want be president. No one is scared of this woman. John McCain used her and they are not whinning about it at all. This lady would have set back women rights for fifty years. I can not believe some of the comments from women who are for this pea brain of a woman.

Good. Let the media focus on the mess in the US rather than following her around looking for crumbs that can distract from the Democrapic mess.

  18. Just another American

I would imagine this Hong Kong speech by Sarah Palin is an attempt by her advisers to gradually broaden her understanding of foreign policy and various cultures. Meet new people and broaden her horizons. This speech is a small step in the right direction. Especially if Palin has aspirations for higher office in the future.

For some reason, I am very uncomfortable at Sarah Palin going to a foreign country and speaking as an American, when we don't know what wacky thing she might say and the press are not allowed. This could prove dangerous. This woman is a personality, just like any one from Hollywood. She is attractive and is comfortable speaking in public, but she is not very intellegent and is inclined to lie and say whatever will get a reaction. She has not learned one thing since she came on the scene except that she can raise a crowd. THESE DAYS IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH TO DO THAT. I hope that our government has someone there to keep an eye on her.Heaven help us if she says the wrong thing. Seriously!

Wouldn't want to sound stupid on a global basis. The rest of the world is way smarter than us. They won't buy her idiotic rantings like the right wing has in this country.
