Media shut out from Palin's Hong Kong speech

(CNN) – Sarah Palin's speech to investors in China later this month will be closed to the media, organizers of the event confirmed to CNN Monday.

The former Alaska governor is set to address the annual CLSA Investors' Forum September 23, though the group is also declining to reveal the topic of the former GOP vice presidential candidate's closed-door speech.

"We are not disclosing the topic of Sarah Palin's presentation at this point," said Simone Wheeler, head of communications for CLSA.

Wheeler said much of the four-day forum, which includes more than 200 presentations, is closed to the media except for a handful of keynote addresses where the speakers have specifically allowed members of the press to be invited.

Palin, whose lack of foreign policy credentials was criticized by Democrats during the 2008 campaign, apparently was not among those speakers willing to grant members of the media access to her speech.

"For keynote presentations, it is the speaker's decision as to whether or not their sessions are closed. Several of our keynotes this year are not open to media," Wheeler said.

There has been speculation Palin could receive upwards of six figures on the speaking circuit, though the organization is remaining tight-lipped on that matter.

"We never disclose if, or how much, our speakers are remunerated," Wheeler said.

Palin has been invited to the function for the same reason Tanya Harding got those overseas invitations after having been disgraced in the Skating world. Sleazy entertainment for Asian men. Unlike Palin, however, Harding actually pulled things off with panache, and she doesn't imagine herself to be something she is not.

  9. Failin' Palin the Angst of Alaska giving investment advice???

I can see the bumper stickers now, "Sarah, pallin' around with commies".

That should put an end to any remote hope she may have had about running for public office.

Why is she giving a speech on finance, she's unemployed. What is the deal with going to China, she doesn't think Americans are worthy of hearing her. Wow, this is the women who coined the phrase my America, now we know what she means: China is her America.

Why does the media follow her every move? Why does it matter? Who really cares? is there any past, current, or future good for the country there? In her case, is there there? I don't get it.

She is a better speaker then the person in the White House presently. She will defeat the loser and the worst president ever Barrack Obama in 2012. Only three and a half years left until better days. Obama Barrack is an embarrasment to the America way of life. You can tell from most of these comments that hateful and stupidity is well and alive.

I see so many republicans here always use freedom as an excuse to say anything... breaking news... have you heard people in jungle have better freedom than you?

People in the amazon forrest have far much better freedom than you.

I'm sure if I use my freedom to walk naked in the streets.. you will defend my freedom to walk naked right?

I hope the Chinese are smarter enough to know where to put their money. What type of investment strategy does she know? Has she ever run a successful business to warrant such an invitation?

These people are making me nervous; they are making Sarah Palin feel the same too. Poor lady, blame it on John McCain – he caused all these with his poor judgement. Well, it is the Republican; they see with their noses.

People should be very concern that she is representing the U.S. interests in China in the name of the U.S. people! American citizens have the right to demand more from such behind door special interests conversations.

    Awesome marketing by CLSA!

Palin doesn't want the press to hear her "speech" ('natch), so, instead, CLSA creates buzz by spinning it as a "secret" speech! Now, we're all talking about Palin again, her secret speech and the CLSA forum!

    Wheeeee!

No one is talking about human rights violations and abuses because is SP. If this was Obama making this speech that big fat fool (Rush) will have something stupid to say. And the little one Hannity. What a hypocrite both of you. You are going to China to educate them about business? What a fool. The average Chinese has a better business acumen than Sarah Palin. I guess she can see China from Hawaii.
