Obama: Family 'will stand in line like everybody else' for vaccine

WASHINGTON (CNN) - The nation's first family will not get any special dispensation when it comes to the much awaited vaccine for the H1N1 virus, President Obama tells CNN.

Asked about plans for his family's health in an interview that airs Sunday on CNN's State of the Union, the president said he intends to consult with his Health and Human Services Secretary and the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"And whatever they tell me to do, I will do," Obama told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King.

"[H]ere's what I guarantee you," Obama also told King, "We want to get vaccinated. We think it's the right thing to do. We will stand in line like everybody else. And when folks say it's our turn, that's when we'll get it."

The president said high-risk populations for the H1N1 virus - like health care workers, pregnant women - and children will be first in line for vaccinations against the disease, also known as the "swine flu." So he speculated that his two daughters, who are both under the age of 12, would likely get vaccinated before him.

"I suspect that I may come fairly far down the line," Obama said.

No matter Obama says, the racist, like lame duck, who used the word, aint, will tear him down. And I quote lame duck, "So save the "no special treatment" BS, maybe the sheep buy that garbage, but the rest that didn't guzzle the orange kool-aid "aint". I think he's the one who guzzled too much of the kool-aid. He must not realize aint isn't a word yet. The grammar is as simple as his or her vocabulary. This is a great example of the blind leading the blind. Everyone reading this should pay attention to stupidity and bigotry. He assumes he knows what Obama would do? I don't think so. They are obviously working on two different levels. I bet they approved of Joe Wilson's outburst. There is never a reason to act out and disrespect our president in front of the entire world. Talk about a national security problem.

To all you see a story like this and shout "YOU LIE" before you think:

You show yourselves to be people who think the President lies no matter what. The majority of the country either ignores you or mocks you at parties.

To Debra R: "Scientists cannot agree on global warming," you say? No, scientists agree on global warming. You must watch a lot of Fixed "News," where extremists, manipulators, and other lunatics try to confuse the debate about what to do about it, shifting the focus and claiming that "scientists cannot agree on what is CAUSING global warming." There's a huge difference. The manipulators try to make it sound as if there's still debate among scientists to fool people like you.

Common sense comment??? Obama is lying about this the same way he has almost everything else he has done or said since being in office. All you global warming freaks; there are a lot of scientists who disagree with your so called global warming. Obama must not agree with it either since he is leaving a huge; huge carbon footprint flying on AF1 almost everyday.

Back to Debra R.–all science is considered theory, it's just that some theories, such as those concerning gravity, are so widely accepted that they are often referred to as fact by most people.

    And the word is "EMPIRICAL."

    God help us.

It is a short line at the White House to their personal family physicians. They won't be standing in line in Harlem, south Chicago or south L.A.

    Good for him.
So many people think vaccines are dangerous.
Both Obama and his wife are well educated and caring parents. They are listening and then choosing the course of action>

The President is simply saying he and his family will be vaccinated like everyone else. Why the hate and anger? For those posting ugly statements, look inside yourself and answer that question.

Do you really, honestly believe that Pres Obama and his family is going to stand in line with the rest of us for flu shots?

Come on. He seems to be getting to the point where he thinks he can say anything and a good portion of people will push the "I believe" button on their forehead. They're becoming a laughing stock.

Frankly, I don't think he or his family should or will have to stand in line, and if he'll lie about the small stuff (flu shots) and the big stuff (what his stimulus package would do), what WON'T he lie about?

Yet one more reason I love our new President. President Obama is doing everything he can to fix the mess left by Republicans/Conservatives and, in my opinion, is doing a great job. As for those out there that do not take H1N1 seriously, I can only hope you do not learn the hard way as you may not get the chance to change your mind...if you get my meaning.

After eight years of defending lies I can understand the republicans being tired and worn out.

Too bad they weren't even half as critical back when it would have mattered. Now, the most gullible of the gang follow their pied piper into DC (70K, not 1000k+) and whine about all the lies they imagine they are hearing.

These people are simply being manipulated by racists or are racist themselves.

Obama could grant Bush/Cheney immunity and the Reich Wing would still complain.

I see no reason to doubt him on this statement. Although he didn't say where they would stand in line to get the shots. I suspect since some are so sensitive to the cost of security for the first family that the Obama's will lineup in the private quarters of the White House.

There really aren't that many crazies on the right. They're just the ones making all the noise. How long you have to wait in line has a lot to do with how big your trailer park is.

I think the President should be the first one to get the vaccine – he's the President and cannot afford to risk getting sick. He's way too busy and he's the leader of this country. Stop already with the criticism of everything he does and says. Thank you.

Sounds like some of you could use a rabies vaccination, I can just see the flecks of foam on you faces as you type "you lie" in all caps with tons of exclamtion points. Are some of you so blinded by hatred that you have to turn eveything the President says into a negative thing? My god, don't you ever get tired of all that hate in your heart?

I believe this vaccine to be very important, . . but, . . lets get real. It feels like our own government is making money off of us, not just to take over health care, but, . . they even have CNN backing the democratic party now. They constantly ignore the corruption going on. Charlie Rangel has been caught stealing from our government, and they wont even talk about him. Does this mean we can all not pay our taxes ? Lets waste some more air time talking about how bad FOX is and ignore what is going on in our government. Cover up after cover up. Where is the truth and honesty in our media ?

I can no longer watch CNN. You have become a tool for the democratic party. If you were honest, you would have a debate with Bill O Reilly or Glenn Beck. You have become a puppet. Prove me wrong, John. Get on your high horse and get involved with what is wrong, . . not just sit there and be a media puppet. Venezela could use your kind on their government owned network. Shame on you.

The challenge with the "Global Warming" debate is that the science is currently only at the theory and modeling stage. BTW, that is also true of a lot of our fundamental knowledge on physics, chemistry, and biology. We are not yet scientifically advanced to conduct the right kind of experiments to prove most of these well accepted models.

The fact is that most eminent scientists of the age agree with the predictions of these models. Another fact is that you cannot be famous if you are just another person who agrees with the prevailing thought system. You cannot sell your TV show if there is no "sensationalism". The wingnuts, the halfwits, the birthers, the demented and the like are also consumers. They need their own TV channel (only one) otherwise they will become smart and then who will Hannity sell to.

I think there is a vast majority of people who believe the swint flu is no more dangerous than any other flu and it is over-hyped for the profit of the drug companies. That cynical view, although healthy, doesn't take into account that the reason there is such concern about the swine flu is that it spreads more rapidly than other strains of flu. That is the real danger, the infectiousness of this particular strain is much higher and can affect more of the population and when that occurs, there is a greater chance of death due to the sheer numbers seeking medical care and the high possibility of vaccine shortages due to a large outbreak. That is why washing your hands, covering your mouth and using anti-bacterial hand gels are very important for the prevention of this flu. Also, the masks do nothing to protect you against the fu (in fact they are more apt to trap bacteria and assist in their growth due to the increased moisture and temperature from breathing in and out), but they are effective to protect others if you are infected.

Get a grip people.... The President did not mean that HE WOULD STAND IN AN ACTUAL LINE.... what he meant was that he would receive his shots, according to the priority given by the Secretary of health... i.e., first children with unjderlying conditions.... children, pregnant women, etc.... You're using any far fetched reason to disrespect him, and you're not fooling anyone.

Why does the white house have a doctor,on 24 hr call,if you have to stand in line for a flu shot? Come on at least be honest about getting on hands treatment. It is not like you are sending Michelle and your kids to the Harlem health clinic,to wait in line behind the junkies and dopers to get a free shot.
