Obama: Family 'will stand in line like everybody else' for vaccine

WASHINGTON (CNN) - The nation's first family will not get any special dispensation when it comes to the much awaited vaccine for the H1N1 virus, President Obama tells CNN.

Asked about plans for his family's health in an interview that airs Sunday on CNN's State of the Union, the president said he intends to consult with his Health and Human Services Secretary and the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"And whatever they tell me to do, I will do," Obama told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King.

"[H]ere's what I guarantee you," Obama also told King, "We want to get vaccinated. We think it's the right thing to do. We will stand in line like everybody else. And when folks say it's our turn, that's when we'll get it."

The president said high-risk populations for the H1N1 virus - like health care workers, pregnant women - and children will be first in line for vaccinations against the disease, also known as the "swine flu." So he speculated that his two daughters, who are both under the age of 12, would likely get vaccinated before him.

"I suspect that I may come fairly far down the line," Obama said.

It really would have been better if he has not spoken this comment. For anyone to believe he will wait his turn when holding the office of the Presidency and being followed in every step he takes by his own personal doctor.....................sorry, but it does sound as if he is talking down to the general population. But I am sure it will make a good photo op as we see the first family all line up to get their shots.

Barack Obama is a clown. CNN did not ask him tough questions. He is a liar. Accorn case was not discussed because Barack Obama was ex-employee of Accorn. He has his hands in gloves with Accorn. Imagine millions of dollars of tax-payers money continue to go to Accorn even now and Barack Obama is not saying anything because it is not his money going to Accorn. He has blinded the liberals and the media. Nobody is talking about ACCORN there. What a disgrace.

Let's get real, and why should this president be treated different than any other first family. Now we want them to stand in line for shots? Get over it Republicans you lost and still act like losers. The white house has and always had a doctor in house. Republicans and their racist friends have been trying to put this Black President in his place every since he took office. Republicans = Racism.

How come Obama and family going to do what we do, and we can't do what they do?. If we ever had a national emergency, I hope we all hide in the same bunker, were we all going to be nice, safe and secure.

And Matthew, if you didn't see the president every week, you would say we are dealing with the biggest challenges of our time and the president is in hiding. Your argument has no value because we know the president loses either way. Now let me move on to see if I can find an objective comment to comment on.

I love Obama, but c'mon. Let's not try to squeeze the grease out of the flea. Of course you won't wait in line with the rest of the people. But your gesture is well taken, at least by me.

Stand in line like everyone else? I hope not. The Commander and Chief and his family and all others strategically important to keeping our government working need to be first in line for vacination as a matter of national security. And I'm not even an Obama fan.

The definition of the word LIE: an intentionally false statement or impression. In other words, when you knowingly say something that is not true. That said what has the President lied about? He truly believes in what he says.

    1. He used to work for ACORN? Prove it. And if you can't, then try to be a grown up and stop saying it.
    2. Is ACORN providing vaccines? No? Then what do they have to do with this article?
    3. Are you that dumb that you think that ACORN has two C's? Yes. And since righties have been throwing that word around for weeks, doesn't that make YOU the DISGRACE??? Yes...

Raise your hand if you are stupid enough to think a President should stand in line for a flu shot rather than attend to the nation's business!!!

    Hey CNN,
Please stop using the words "swine flu" when talking about the H1N1 Virus!! You had an article about why it's hurting the US pork industry...and the USDA has asked the media to refer to it as H1N1.
Set an example for the media please...

He doesn't mean literally wait in line, dingbats. He means that he will wait his proverbial place in line. Specifically, there are usually guidelines as to those who get it first, i.e. sick and elderly. Then down the line of pregnant women, children, etc. - whatever hierarchy the CDC and/or Dept of Health has established.

There has been sufficient publicity by the world media to let everyone know that there is significant risk when a person contracts H1N1. It is a valiant thing for world leaders to volunteer to try the vaccine for H1N1, but there needs to be caution here, because there are legitimate concerns about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine for H1N1. The flu has been mild in the USA, so there should not be a rush to vaccinate people. Let's give this time and make sure that the vaccine is safe.
