(CNN) - Rielle Hunter, the woman at the center of the John Edwards sex scandal, has been known variously as a spiritual seeker, an aspiring actress, a party girl and a political operative, according to media reports.
Last year, after months of denials, Edwards admitted having an affair with Hunter while he was campaigning for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2006.
Edwards' campaign paid Hunter $114,000 to make a series of short webisode videos about his presidential campaign, and she traveled extensively with the candidate's entourage.
Edwards denies that he is the father of a baby Hunter bore in February 2008, saying the affair was over before she became pregnant.
Former Edwards aide Andrew Young claimed the baby was his. But Young later said that the former senator is the father and that his paternity claim had been made at Edwards' request. Hunter has not said who the father is.
"Rielle is the black sheep of the family. We were all raised the same way. She chose a different path," Hunter's sister, Roxanne Marshall, told People magazine in August 2008.
She's as much of a low life as Edwards. This baby is her gold mine, where would she be without it............broke and alone.
It makes me mad that she KNEW that he was married and she went after him. She deserves all the pain she can get for messing up a marriage. I dont have any sympathy toward her. Elizabeth, stay strong. You're a true woman.
John, his wife, and Rielle Hunter – ALL belong on Jerry Springer.
They ALL lied about the affair and tried to cover-up the issue while John was running for the Presidency.
The less we see/hear from this trailer-trash crowd ... the better.
Sad to destroy John Edwards. Although he is nothing more than a fancy ambulance chasing tort attorney, he's still a good statesman. Not great, but better than many. This is coming from a republican, by the way. If he won the nomination I'd strongly consider voting for him, even if he was on the democrat ticket. He was wrong, he admitted it. He didn't try to dance around the issue with comments like "not as I understand the meaning of the word sex" (kind of like "I did not violate the laws of the United States" <> because he was in Britain when he smoked it!
