Wilson accuses Dems of misleading the public

Rep. Joe Wilson sent a fundraising email to Republicans on Friday.'

WASHINGTON (CNN)– The man made famous for shouting 'you lie!' at President Obama is now making his pitch to Republican voters in a new e-mail accusing Democrats of being secretive and misleading the public to advance their health care agenda.

"Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats have continually rushed major legislation to a vote to ensure little to no public scrutiny," Wilson writes in the e-mail sent out by the National Republican Congressional Committee Friday.

According to Wilson, Republicans have asked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to post 'major legislation' online for a minimum of 72 hours before votes are tallied so citizens have the opportunity to read the legislation.

"If we succeed, Americans can finally separate fact from fiction," He added.

On Thursday, Rep. John Boehner, the House minority leader, also criticized Democrats for continuing what he characterized as hurried efforts to force through their legislative proposals.

The American people "know that this majority, especially on major bills this year, haven't given lawmakers much of any time to actually read the bill," said Boehner, R-Ohio. "Each time this happens, the trust the American people have in their Congress is undermined."

Wilson's e-mail went on to encourage donations to the NRCC.

"If we can raise more money than the Democrats, we'll send a message to Pelosi, Obama, and their friends that the American people are firmly behind the Republicans in opposition to government-run healthcare," he wrote.

Since his September 9 outburst during Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress, Wilson has raised over $2 million for his re-election campaign.

"Democrats don't want you reading their healthcare bill – or any other bill for that matter," Wilson writes. "Their legislative agendas will do nothing more than grow the government, raise you taxes and squash individual freedom."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday House Democrats need further negotiations before bringing a final version of a health care bill to debate before the full chamber.

Every single member of Congress, including Joe Wilson and John Boehner, is fully aware that the quickest way to kill a bill is to slow it down until any political will to approve it withers away or is replaced by some other trumped up issue. After waiting more than a century for meaningful health care reform, and after the Republican Party killed the last attempt at reform more than 15 years ago, it is time to move forward with all possible speed. So buckle up GOP. You're about to get left in the dust by the 21st century.

Pee on Wilson. Republicans had control for six years unchecked and blocked everybody out except for major corporations, big oil, and the saudis. They also ran this country in a way that made people less free in every way.

He had so much fun shouting "Liar," and got so money from that fascist scum that is the Republican Party today that he wants to continue doing it. Joe is precisely what is wrong with America, idiots like him who left there patriotism on the street. He does not belong in the government. Misleading the public is what the Fascists are doing on the television every night.

Yeah, Let's give all the lobbist's time to look at it for 72 hours. Where was this request when the GOP was in charge and jamming legilation down the DEM's throat.

Rep. Wilson is clearly brainwashed to the point of believing the lies that the insurance and pharmaceutical companies, as well as the Chamber of Commerce are promulgating.
I'll let the experts determine if he's delusional and needs to be committed or simply deprogrammed.

I find it interesting that many Republicans keep througing out these claims that the bill will grow government, raise your taxes, and squash your freedom.

Its funny how they try to through out random phrases that they know will scare the misinformed citizen.

They forgot to say that healtcare will turn people away from Godly values. Or healthcare will make your children poor. Or why not, healthcare will cause the nation to spend less on keeping the borders safe.

What other scare tactics can they come up with.

    Less tactics...more options please.

Why is Wilson pointing his finger at Dems? WILSON is the guilty one for misleading the public as are most Republicans and the GOP party! do the Republicans EVER work? NO! All they do is whine, complaint, use deceit, lie, cry instead of doing actual work! Good God...we're SICK of the Republicans and especially some ill-mannered guy. Wilson and most Republicans complain they can't read all the bill then have the nerve to criticize it without working WITH Democrats to come up with solutions. Republicans have been an embarrassment to this country since the primary elections!!! And they just get worse by the day! Get rid of 'em

They can and have put up documentation of these bills for the public to read.....the problem is the people who are against reform or scared of it haven't taken the time or refuse to read it anyways. Nothing is going to change that.

The fact is that the powers that be(the insurance companies, and congressmen who's campaigns are financed by insurance companies) know very well they stand to make a lot less money should reform pass. Good for the people, bad for some fat cats bottom line. '

They have done a very masterful sleight of hand by convincing gullible people that this is some kind of evil intentioned thing and that the best thing for all of us to do is just to stick our fingers in our ears and go "NO NO NO NO NO" to people who want reform. Who knows if they will wake up to this trick or not. I really don't care at this point. We just need to pass health care and watch as all these people who are crying "SOCIALISM!" find out it's actually a good idea.

Not enough time? Guess we all have to wait until a Republican president is elected. Don't see that happening until 2016, at the earliest. Meantime the Republican party remains the party of the fringe element.

In the days since Wilson and his counterparts publicly disgraced themselves, only to win greater favor with an extremist minority that already supports them without question, I have two questions for rep Wilson: (1.) In these few days, how many of the people in your who have health insurance have been forced to file bancrupcty due to a preventable illness? (2.) How many of your INSURED constituents (which includes everyone in your district, and not just wingnut right-wing extremists) have died in these past few days since you shouted "you lie" at an American president who is trying to find a solution to these issues?

Or maybe you don't care, now that these people don't have an address or ability to vote (against you) any more.

Please CNN quit showing this poor, pathetic soul. While I could say lots of nasty things, it would only make me sink to his level. To me, he spells racism and reminds me of the ugly past of America.

The hypocrisy. Joe Wilson voted FOR providing taxpayer money to fund health care for illegal immigrants in 2003.

So, he was for it in a big way before he was against it in a big way? Joe Wilson – Just GO AWAY.

  19. thanks, but no thanks

Oh really!!!! How about keeping the war cost tabs separate from the budget Mr. Wilson? Did you have a problem with that? Apparently not. Now, if you are not able to read 1000 pages over a week, then you are not fit to the position. It is not about negotiations. It is about stalling the health care reform till public get tired and slamming the other party for incompetence. We do see right through you Mr. Wilson. You are not only a liar, but also a traitor to American people. How about privatizing social security Mr. Wilson, are you for that, also? Remember when President Bush came to congress asking for privatizing social security. You were on his side, were't you. Let the market take care of it. What would have happened to it Mr. WIlson? And shame on you media for your inexcusable presentation of health care reform. Why are not the majority of people who would like health care reform covered? Because they are not loud, and obnoxious enough??? Shame on you playing on the american public, the same hand that feeds you parasites...

I guess WILSON doesn't want to feel LEFT OUT next time when he shouts – 'YOU LIE' at our president. He wants to "..post 'major legislation' online for a minimum of 72 hours before votes..." LOL

I NEVER heard of Wilson before YOU LIE!!! Now he is bragging about $2 Million dollars raised as a result. I guess he has EVERY Republican sending him money from ALL OVER the USA – Wow!! only $2 Million???? Usually, you raise money from your own state for your own politicians??? Jeez

Hmm, the dems must be taking a page from the Republicans book, you know like when they hurried through energy bills (& we all know the only ones who got a voice on that one were the energy companies), the Patriot Act (one of the biggest threats to our constitutional rights), oh and the first $750 billion bailout (& that was done without any way of us knowing where that money went).

I still don't understand why the biggest oppisition to healthcare refrom continues to come from Republicans and insurance companies...hmm, that's a tough one.

Wilson is really dragging out his 15 minutes of fame, aren't we done with him yet?

With all the liberal fussing about insurance companies in the pocket of the GOP, I have a question.
Exactly in whose pocket is the SEIU, ACORN, teachers unions, trial lawyers, code pink, hollywood, and PETA? Did I mention the Trial Lawyers? The Liberal wardrobe...one big pocket! Did I mention trial lawyers?

Repugnants have been lying and twisting the truth all year long. We have seen how nasty they can be...they just barely fell short of calling for Obama's assassination. What a nerve!!!
