Wilson accuses Dems of misleading the public

Rep. Joe Wilson sent a fundraising email to Republicans on Friday.'

WASHINGTON (CNN)– The man made famous for shouting 'you lie!' at President Obama is now making his pitch to Republican voters in a new e-mail accusing Democrats of being secretive and misleading the public to advance their health care agenda.

"Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats have continually rushed major legislation to a vote to ensure little to no public scrutiny," Wilson writes in the e-mail sent out by the National Republican Congressional Committee Friday.

According to Wilson, Republicans have asked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to post 'major legislation' online for a minimum of 72 hours before votes are tallied so citizens have the opportunity to read the legislation.

"If we succeed, Americans can finally separate fact from fiction," He added.

On Thursday, Rep. John Boehner, the House minority leader, also criticized Democrats for continuing what he characterized as hurried efforts to force through their legislative proposals.

The American people "know that this majority, especially on major bills this year, haven't given lawmakers much of any time to actually read the bill," said Boehner, R-Ohio. "Each time this happens, the trust the American people have in their Congress is undermined."

Wilson's e-mail went on to encourage donations to the NRCC.

"If we can raise more money than the Democrats, we'll send a message to Pelosi, Obama, and their friends that the American people are firmly behind the Republicans in opposition to government-run healthcare," he wrote.

Since his September 9 outburst during Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress, Wilson has raised over $2 million for his re-election campaign.

"Democrats don't want you reading their healthcare bill – or any other bill for that matter," Wilson writes. "Their legislative agendas will do nothing more than grow the government, raise you taxes and squash individual freedom."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday House Democrats need further negotiations before bringing a final version of a health care bill to debate before the full chamber.

Politicians are purposely making this issue complex and more difficult as they stand behind party lines. Obviously, the game seems to be to delay / confuse this issue as long as possible, so that nothing gets done. Better wake up, politicians, before the shooting starts.

    Want a solution?

    1. Keep it simple. Draft a clear document with all the details spelled out. If it takes a lawyer to understand it, then it is headed in the wrong direction.
    2. Make the document available to the public.
    3. Let the American People decide what is best for THEM.

    Duh ~!

    Wilson is joking right?

This known racist is the one who has misled the country and brought dishonor to Congress, the Republican Party, the state of SC and to himself.

Wilson is the LIAR....from the night he screamed at President Obama it was proven that NO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS are allowed healthcare coverage in ANY bill written on healthcare. Wilson was WRONG but would never admit it when the truth was proven to him.

All you who have deludedingly contributed money to this man should learn more about his background and affiliations. He is long-standing member of a White Supremacist group called "Sons of the Confederacy" and fighting to the death to keep the Confederate flag flying over SC"s state capitol. This man is NO hero and does not deserve the honor of serving in Congress.

Another radical extremist that the Republican Party will not denounce.

Let's see – write a big bill, send it to committees, discuss it in the press and every other possible forum, make it a cause celeb, enact rolling caravans of people against it without reading it first
Sounds like trying to work in secret to me.

Can we focus on the masses motivated against it without actually reading it part – The part that makes me despair for the future.

A person is or can be smart
People are ignorant, panicky, sheep that can be led to slaughter by someone with manipulation on his mind and a hope that his "people are either to lazy or to stupid to find out facts for themselves.

Apparently the new thing for the right wing nuts is to call Democrats liars.

Lying like Wilson did about illegal aliens in the health care bills, or telling everyone he used to be an immigration lawyer, when he wasn't, that is something that can be verified one way or another. We conclude that Wilson is a liar because we can prove that he lies, and often.

The latest Republican whopper is to say that Obama worked for ACORN. Again, a complete fabrication. That doesn't stop Republican congressmen from repeating this lie on the floor of the House. They simply have no shame.

Lying is a deliberate and daily effort for the Republicans, including the Republican stooges who have decided that the only way to cover up their incredible lie campaign is to make empty accusations of Democrats lying.

Am I right or am I right ? Most of the comments that are published are
those against Rep. Joe Wilson .

I wonder why most of the people in the press are very protective of
    the current administration .

God Bless Rep. Wilson for having the guts and for him being there .

Mr. Wilson, haven't you brought enough down on you already?! Just think, if you'd kept your mouth shut, none of the resulting firestorm ensues!

One of top five reasons I voted for Obama was for transparency. We call this transparency? Especially after all these fantastic wins Obama has served up the last 10 months?

Try it the first time shame on you, try it the second time, shame on me. 2010 can’t get here soon enough.

Where are the jobs President Obama? We've flown with you twice, once on the Stimulus and once in Cash for Clunkers and you crashed both times. While the American people are hurting historically, you're on the national stage telling the world how to fly?

Puleeze, don't make me laugh, I have chapped lips.

2010.......is the date and time for the healing to begin.

look, ALL polititians are mis-leading the public. Especially Republicans. I mean, where was this Wilson character as we were being led to war in Iraq? Where was Wilson when Trillions in CASH disappeared from Iraq? How about the WMD's?

Wilson, SC is one of the most backwards states in our country. Try focusing on doing somthing positive for this country, like getting the Stars and Bars back up above the courthouse (insert sarcasm here).

I cannot even express how irritating ALL polititians are. Especially on this page, since my bad words would get my comment flagged right away.

Joe Wilson is a bigot, PERIOD. Those who support him are bigots too. B/c had that been someone on the Democratic side who scream " YOU LIE " to Bush when he was lying about WMDs, the rethugs would be calling for his head and MSM would be going along with them not playing down like they're doing now. Now just imagine if a person of color like Jessie Jackson Jr. or congressman Meeks would have shouted out to Bush " YOU LIE ", all who are defending Wilson would be singing a different tone. They would have been called ever name under the sun, some would be screaming for them to be hung.

Pres Obama never said that the economy would turn around in 6 or 7 months. It took years to get this way and it may take more time than 6-7months to get out of it. The Great Depression lasted more than 10 years people!

If there's even one member of congress that hasn't read the proposed bill(s) yet then they should be fired. It's not as if it's only been on the table one day. It's their job. READ IT. THEN VOTE ON IT. It's not that hard.

  25. Not too ignorant to replace facts and the truth with my fears, uncertainty, personal bias.

"If we succeed, Americans can finally separate fact from fiction," He added.

Your not very good at distinguishing fact from fiction just like many other republicans and conservative citizens. Death Panels? Not true. Health Care Rationing? Already happening. Illegal Immigrants? Not covered under new health care plan any more than they were in previous health care plans. Shouting "You Lie!" at our President? A disrespectful, ignorant, uneducated, and most definitely improper thing to do!
