'I very much enjoy working for' Obama, Gates says

Secretary Gates said President Obama is 'very analytical' and 'delves very deeply' into issues.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who was a prominent member of former President George W. Bush's Cabinet, told CNN that he is enjoying working for Bush's Democratic successor.

In an interview broadcast Sunday on CNN's State of the Union, Gates praised Obama’s approach to decision-making as the nation's commander-in-chief.

"He is very analytical," Gates told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King. "He is very deliberate about the way he goes through things. He wants to understand everything. He delves very deeply into these issues."

Gates, who previously worked for 27 years in the CIA under six presidents, was the first defense secretary to be asked to remain in office by a newly-elected president when Obama kept him on.

The Pentagon chief was diplomatic when comparing Obama to other former occupants of the Oval Office.

"I'm not going to get into comparing the different presidents, Gates said. “I very much enjoy working for this one."

Time to "hit the reset button" Tony. That sounds like ditto head talk to me. Instead of just being opinionated, try being informed. The "real American" blabber is just that.

Enuff...you got it right. I still laught about that sign at one of their Klan rally's that read "KEEP THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF MY MEDICARE". Really!?! These are the kind of folks who represent the Repig party. You can get mad all you want at President Carter, but he understands what is going on in this country and he nailed i twith his comments about race playing a part in the hatred towards Obama. While millions of white Americans voted for Obama, there are millions that did not based solely on his skin color and these are the folks the Repigs represent. Make no mistake about it, Repigs are hoping to take the country back to the "good ole days". It AINT gonna happen. Their mistake has always been to underestimate President Obama. There is not one Repig today that can match this man and they know it. He motivates and inspires people and not just in America.

Don't forget Mr. Bush was the first to give us a stimulus package. You idiot republicans have a selective memory, it seems. George Bush bankrupted this country going into a war that should have never been.Killing our young men and women for nothing. Sticking our nose into something that was not of no interest to our people. We need to help the American people before we help other countries. Bush has made this country what it is today.Shame on you George Bush for destroying this country.

"Come on 2010 and 2012. We need change from the change we just got, only 9 months in. Obama and this congress ignore and make fun of real Americans and their desires. Time to hit the reset buttton".
    Tony

I'm a real American Tony and I resent you calling Obama supporters anything else but real Americans. I believe in freedom, individuality, hope and a future that will bring this country to it's fullest potential after eight years of a spiraling effect by an ineffective leader and his cronies.
Unlike you I am willing to believe that there are some politicians on both sides that believe in a common and honest good for this country – I do not judge because of political party affiliation – and sometimes, sir, that is very difficult, especially reading biased comments like yours that have no backing behind them.
Get back on the Mayflower and head back to a place where class and skin color dominate your existence. This country is built on freedom for all.

You right wing nuts ALWAYS have something negative to say. You are so limited with your intelligence, have NOTHING to offer, yet continue to try and pull down the sitting president. My question is what have you done lately to make contributions to our country? It's one thing to oppose ones ideas, but you have nothing to offer but criticism. I can imagine what your pathetic life is about!

    Quote "Eieen"
The people are not with Obama and he will not get re-elected. Dream on Dems. Dems are over reaching and that will bring huge wins for repubs next year. Obama is not God stop worshipping him. Dems are the real racists and everybody now knows it.

Spoken like a true Tea bagger.

These right-wing wackos that hang on every word people like Hannity, Beck and Limbaugh say are a dwindling population. They may be loud but they will faze out with time just like the Confederates, Segregationists, McCarthyists and all of the other groups that are afraid of progress and equal rights for all people.

They don't bother me at all and they have a right to yell and act like fools at town hall meetings and tea parties but the younger generation is overwhemingly progressive and liberal so it is only a matter of time before we don't have to hear it anymore.

    Just wait and see.

Professor; if you think Obama doesn't lie you need to go back to school yourself or else open your eyes and look real hard. I'm not a right wing extreme racists and I'm getting tired of being called that because I don't agree with King Obama. I do have some common sense which is more than liberals have when it comes to Obama.

Do you really believe, Tony, that the Obama administration is making "fun of real Americans and their desires"? Which "real Americans" might those be, Tony? Tony. What is that–short for Anthony? Do real American's name their children Tony? Are there any "real Americans" named Anthony. Why aren't you Bob or Steve or Mike? Tony, indeed.

We're all Americans, Tony. Most of us feel that it's time the US started taking care of its own instead of fighting ideological wars started by idiots who can't even spell ideology.

My family has shed it blood and shed it in vain, for George W Bush, Tony. What should we put on that tombstone, Tony–"Died for Halliburton corporation"?

    "Real Americans" indeed.

    Pull your head out, Tony.

Not to split hairs here, but Gates is not some "aide." He's a major cabinet secretary, he's fifth in line to the presidency. And this isn't exactly surprising. How many people bash their current boss, especially in such a public forum?

Tony, Who baptised you " real America"? And why do you differentiate yourself from your other fellow citizens?
Your thoughts are not good at all for the nation Tony!

Although I am a liberal, I supported Bush immediately after 9 11. I tried to keep an open mind, and it wasn't until after contious misdeeds that I really rallied against him. As I ve gotten older, I realize how fast time really goes. So I am just curious, what does anyone figure is going to be accomplished by this annoying partisinship? Obama hasn't even been in office a year, and I am amazed that the right hasn't tried to impeach him. All the stonewalling is just wasting time, and disillusioning EVERYONE

OK folks! If you think the President is not going to be elected, you are dumber than you probably look! If stupid stayed in office for 8 years and screwed the country, and he does not have half of the intelligence as our sitting president, then our current President will surely continue to rebuild this country. This president is a chess master, he will rebound...you can take that to the bank, you yokels:)

Tony, what do you mean real Americans? So Republicans, Democrats and Independents who voted for President Obama are somehow not real Americans? If this country was attacked would they not fight and die to protect it? My fellow American, how could you believe people who protest our President by holding signs with him as an African witch doctor, Hitler, a monkey and the n-word is the true representation of a REAL AMERICAN?

Yes, I'm afraid our Fox News fans (basicially repubs.) will never get it, but who cares at this point. There's no time for their stubborn and ignorant approach to the world's issues. Their heads are stuck in holes like an ostrich waiting for the "danger" to pass. All they want is for Obama and thus our country to fail; now that's PATRIOTIC, isn't it? Wish they'd get off their rant; like a bunch of spoiled kids who can't have it their way anymore. Boo-hoo.

Toni what do you call REAL americans and what do you call FAKE americans? I think american=american. You are one of those people who discriminated against blacks for a long time now that you and your ancestors are loosing that battle, you are going against your own people. That's ignorant and sad, especially for someone who call himself american. Even people in africa think better than that. You will be surprised in 2000 and 2012 because the american people cant stand people like you and republicans anymore.. so gear up and get ready dumb asses.

Eileen, those who associate Obama with God see God like attribute, otherwise, the rest of us see a person who really care for people. Yes he was a community organizer – so was Jesus, Yes he can draw a crowd – so can Jesus, Yes his words make you listen – so was Jesus and Yes you hear wisdom – in Jesus the same. The Bible as us to be like him and when someone reminds you of him – like the Jews you want to destroy him. Just give it up and give the MAN is just due – he is a good President.

I think the sniping on both sides needs to stop. Let people protest, because it is their right. Calling them racists or Klansmen just reduces the dialogue to the gutter and builds walls around us. The same from the other side. There are genuine concerns with some of the policies of this admin; let us argue without viciousness.

What is a "real American" anyway? Is it a white guy who is armed to the teeth and attends a Southern Baptist church daily? Or is it the recent immigrant who believes in the American dream? When the flag rises, does your heart skip a beat, or does your stomach churn?
Aren't we all "real Americans"? And isn't that what makes America great?
So stop calling the conservative stupid. Stop calling the liberal un-patriotic. Stop with the claims that the President is somehow not as American as the white guys from Dixie. Start remembering that we all love this country, we all want the best.
