Bank of America pulls ACORN funding

Bank of America pulls ACORN funding.

NEW YORK (CNN) - Troubled community organizing group ACORN suffered another setback on Monday, when Bank of America announced it is pulling its funding of ACORN Housing.

In a statement, Bank of America said that is it "suspending current commitments to ACORN Housing and will not enter into any further agreements with ACORN or any of its affiliates" until it is satisfied that all issues related to the organization have been resolved.

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, known as ACORN, has been under investigation by both the Justice and Treasury Department after videos recorded on hidden cameras by conservative activists showed
employees allegedly giving advice on illegal activities.

ACORN is also conducting its own investigation through an independent auditor and it says that it has fired the employees involved in the recorded incidents.

The organization was in the headlines during the recent presidential campaign after allegations of voter registration fraud. Some of its voter registration workers were prosecuted and some other employees resigned.

Even greater controversy was ignited by the videos, which show some ACORN workers advising two conservative activists - posing as a pimp and a prostitute - how to set up a prostitution business involving underage, foreign girls.

Bank of America said it "takes recent allegations made against ACORN and ACORN Housing Corporation employees very seriously."

ACORN did not immediately respond to a CNN request for comment.

Bank of America USED to be the bank of the "people" when it was founded as the Bank of Italy in San Francisco at the turn of the 20th Century and was a big factor in helping to rebuild the City of San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake. NOW the BofA is the bank of screw the people.....just ask the lady who put out the video about BofA raising her credit card interest rate by 30% just in time before the new interest rate rules go into effect! Anyone remember being able to have a regular savings account that paid 5.25% all the time, Xmas Club accounts so you could save ahead for the holidays, children were actually encouraged to open saving accounts? Not too many bank even bother today, do they.

Oh, listen to the Liberals whine.

Some actually say that ACORN is the only organization that helps the poor...HA.

Ever hear of Little Sisters of the Poor, the Salvation Army, Red Cross, or how about the thousands of soup kitchens for the past 100 years...looneys.

CNN still hasn't broken the story from the Washington Post about ACORN channeling tax-payer funds to Liberal politicians....missed that one too, did'ja?

ACORN is corrupt at the top (Wade Rathke embezzled 1 million dollars), the middle (WaPo), and the bottom (O'Keefe videos)..How much more proof do you need?

Good taxpayers money being paid to Halliburton with it criminal activities is just fine, because it is the "love child" of Bush and friends it is ok, but have a organization that helps that have the least, is wrong. And by the way where is the proof the whole organization is corrupt?

Just goes to show any organization funded with tax payer dollars is subject to fraud and abuse. Obama thinks he is going to save money from Medicare by eliminating fraud and abuse, when he claims to know nothing about what is going on with ACORN. Good luck on that one, even the most liberal of Democrats know that isn't possible.

People, you need to get it, that Obama came out of ACORN and the "change" Obama espouses is the same change that ACORN espouses - all downhill morally. How have so many Americans missed that, or is it that America just doesn't care about our moral values any more?

Shut ACORN down and put all the co-conspirators in prison. How about investigaing the 7 Democratic Senators who voted to keep funding ACORN too. Bet there's more dirt there.

"ACORN is officially the scapegoat for no good reason. It is an organization to help the poor." ......and register dead people to vote for scum-bag liberals who can't play fair!

  9. Counting the days until the Obamanation is GONE and America can prosper again

Hold off the funding for now – provide OUTSIDE AUDITOR proof that it's not a systemic issue. Prove that the average tax payer isn't paying for advice on how to scam the government. If it can be shown, then let ACORN back into the fold. But don't expect me, or any other logical, thinking person, to belive that it's all wiped out.

Now why would they do that? ACORN is such an honest organization. It was apparent during their work on behalf of Obama when they signed up 10's if not 100's of thousands of fictitous voters.

Bank of America steals people's money with their high interest rates, they boot people out of their homes rather than work with them to make mortgage adjustments, and on and on.

    Bank of America is UNAMERICAN

The nut-jobs in America just love these GOP ginned up which hunts – And the likes of BoA just love to add fuel to the fire. Besides, it's in BoA's self interest to throw a bone to the fear-mongering rethugs they have in their back pockets.

For the hood-wearing Obama-hater types that think ACORN is anti-American, just name one – just one – act of voter fraud that ACORN has ever been convicted of since 2000. You can't because there isn't one.

Here's a brain stumper for those morons that think ACORN is some kind of Islamo-facist organization. It's against the constitution to single ACORN out to have their funding pulled like the recent bill introduced into congress.
Why? It's called a "Bill of Attainer" and is forbidden by Article One Section 9. Our own constitution prevents witch hunts by the congress against one person or organization and the lynch ob called the GOP just chooses to ignore it or worse yet, don't know what it means!

You right wing nuts are all being hoodwinked! Played for the fools you are. The 3.5 Million ACORN has received every year for the past 15 years has done so much good compared to the 4 documented workers out of 500 something that were filmed doing illegal activities. So, keep all your focus on the 37 Million total ACORN has received rather than the Billions wasted on Halliburton and BlackWater.

    Fools!

We can all sleep well tonight knowing that ACORN will not be providing tax information for people who want to use underage children in a house of prostitution. Jane/Seattle is right about one thing: I sure do HATE people who would support Child prostitution. Now if Obama et al really wants to get to the bottom of this begin RICO proceedings...but they won't...ACORN does not help the poor...they help themselves.

How can anyone defend ACORN. The videos clearly show it is willing to promote organized crime, even the sex slave trade in poor communities. Doesn't even blink an eye. This organization is a product of the liberal progressive movement. It is corrupt and without a soul.

Bank of America needs to stop ripping of the American people and clean up their own house first. Jumping on the Acorn bandwagon doesn't make BOA look better. They're still crooks.

ACORN and SEIU are a bunch of thugs, funded by the taxpayer.
They need to be shutdown, completely. they have no reason to exist in today's society.

This is purely political. Some government contractors have done much, much worse things than ACORN is accused of, even murder, and they have not been defunded. Can you say Black Water, Halliburton, and others?

Thanks to the persistence of the 'vast right-wing conspiracy' Americans and American institutions are finally starting to wake up to the sleazy reality of ACORN. If only our president could develop some awareness...

Bank of America appears to be in a scndal itself concerning possible unethical financial merger issues. Is it possible this bank is trying to play on our stupidity.

Acorn is done but a new name will appear! Mark my words, even though BO says he wasn't affiliated with Acorn, (except the short time he worked with them as a trainer and then as their lawyer, Yes he said a little white lie(oppps was that racist) but he's sorry now) BO will have his clones or already has them working to take care of his buddies at Acorn. Wonder what the new name will be? Lets start a poll to see who get's the closest.
    God Bless All
