For Chicago's '16 bid, Michelle Obama vows to 'take no prisoners'

The president and first lady recently hosted a White House event to highlight Chicago's 2016 Olympic bid. They will be heading to Copenhagen the end of this week to lobby Olympic officials in person.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - First Lady Michelle Obama vowed Monday to "take no prisoners" as she and her husband launch an unprecedented bid for Chicago's 2016 Olympic bid.

"It's a battle - we're going to win - take no prisoners," Mrs. Obama said with a smile at a roundtable discussion with reporters in the White House State Dining Room.

Mrs. Obama compared the intense lobbying effort to the 2008 presidential campaign, noting that in the election campaign, a lot of voters made their decision in the final days. She said members of the International Olympic Committee may do the same.

"And our view is, we're not taking a chance," she said. "We're just not going to assume that the bids - that the decisions are made, and so that no matter what the outcome is, we'll feel as a country, as a team, that we've done everything that we can to bring it home."

  1. No Hillary = No Obama

On the same day the Obama's are trying to get the Olympic nod for Chicago, the world is shown pictures of a barbarian murder in Chicago. Had not the city been identified as Chicago one would think this act of mayhem was taking place in some lawless African nation. Better that Obama spend his time to address this cold blooded beating & it's social ramifications taking place in his own backyard, then smiling in front of the cameras.

I think with the lackluster effort Obama has put into his policies the fanatic way Mrs. Obama is acting is out of place.

I'm so glad that everything is going well enough in this country that our President and Vice-President have enough time to make the Olympics a priority. Seriously, get to work Mr. President.

If it wasn't Chicago I don't think the Obamas would be going. It is absurd that they are going to spend taxpayer dollars to make this trip
Don't they have more important business to take care of in this country. It just keep getting worse.

It is funny how worried the President and First Lady are about getitng the Olympics here. With all the International Issues, Financial Issues here, Afgan and Iraq issues. I would figure that they would have more pressing issues. A president is supposed to take care of his country not go all over so that he can be in the spotlight. He should have gotten into show business instead of pooitics.

Why would we care what this woman says? Is she a policy maker? Does she make any decisions at all? Funny how they want to Olympics in their old hometown. Chicago corruption at its best. As for Michelle, please don't do news on her again. She is as irrelevant as she is unattractive. VERY ! !

With all the crime and corruption in Chicago, second only to D.C., it's not such a good idea to bring international tourists to the windy city for the olympics – unless stimulusing the chicago special interests is more important than the safety of the visitors and athletes. I think Rio 2016 is better.

These people are something else. Never mind the Olympics, work on the economy, health care and Afghanistan.

  11. Give me a break!

If Obama and Michelle can look the American people in the face and say that *It doesn't matter!* that Chicago is the US city with the chance to host the Olympics, and that they would fight *equally hard* if it were any other US town, then fine...I'm on their side.

But the fact remains is that they want Chicago to win because after the presidency is over, they will move back to Chicago, and their hometown will be better off with stable or even rising house prices.

Selfishness? You make the call. :-)

It would be nice if Obama learned how to be President, and his wife learned how to be First Lady, but it looks like there's little hope of either happening.

BO BO the Doofus made time to fly to Denmark for this promo tour. He should be in Hollywood creating his own sitcom titled 'Bo Bo the Azz Clown Rides Again."

Iran fires long-range missile. Obama works to get '2016 Olympics.
    What a doofus.
I think Iran is telling Bo Bo, "In your face". Stinkle Barry will most assuredly give Iran a "stern talking to"! Maybe give them a little time out for bad behavior.
Again, BO BO = Doofus and the world knows it.

One could wish that our President was as interested in winning this war in afgan as he is in getting the bid for the olympics in Chicago! One time, he has conferenced with the Generals over there! I wixh that everyone who's time is almost up in the service would just walk out no reups, we are wasting our young soldier's lives in this war. One other thing, who in his right mind would want to go to Chicago to the see the Olympics, when they are having a war of their own there with gang warfare, drive by shootings and the beating death's of young honor students. I would sooner be dead then visit that vile city!

Great, now I know our country is about to fall like the Roman Empire. Our government is offering us bread and circuses.

Winter is around the corner, this sucks.
