Gingrich group withdraws invite to adult entertainment exec

Gingrich group withdraws invite to adult entertainment exec.

(CNN) - For the second time this month, Newt Gingrich's 527 has decided that it made a mistake inviting an adult entertainment industry entrepreneur to attend a "private dinner" with the former House Speaker.

Dawn Rizos, owner of Dallas topless club The Lodge, received a letter earlier this month from Gingrich's American Solutions inviting her to dine with Gingrich at a Capitol Hill club next week. She was also told she had been selected to receive an Entrepreneur of the Year Award. "Dawn - Newt is looking forward to finally meeting you face to face" to talk policy, read a handwritten note on the missive.

Lodge spokesman Michael Precker says they were told the group would need $5,000 to confirm her attendance, which they promptly paid.

On Tuesday, Rizos - who Precker said had laid out the funds for her own travel to the event - was informed by a marketing company working for American Solutions that the invite had been mistakenly extended, and was being rescinded.

Precker said he was told the invitation had been intended for another company with the same name - DCG - as the club's corporate parent. He also says he was told the full $5,000, and the non-refundable travel expenses incurred, would be returned - "so I guess they really don't want us around." No funds have yet been received, he said.

The latest cancellation comes just weeks after porn executive Allison Vivas - who received the same invitation to a dinner with Gingrich, with a nearly identical handwritten note - received her own cancellation notice.

Vivas' invite was rescinded shortly after she released a statement promising to make sure the Georgia Republican left their sitdown "educated about the realities of the online porn market."

An American Solutions spokesman said at the time that the notice to Vivas had been mistakenly sent, and that the group "regret(ted) the error."

The group said Tuesday that the notice Dawn Rizos received "was sent at the same time as the other mistake for the same reason." It did not specify what that reason was.

This is ripe. Politicians are noted for their adult entertainment proclivities including extra marital affairs, prostitutes and whatever manner of sexual fantasy they may want to indulge. Hypocritical is what I call this.

Newt is probably one of this man's biggest customers. Along with Ensign, Vitter, Sanford, whew I don't think we have enough characters.

We could almost guess where Gingrich like to put his Newt. In the slime world of adult entertainment. Just shows the underside of the real GOP.

They should just invite – then pull an Obama and claim you knew nothing.

You know the drill: I didn't go to that church, I didn't know that guy, I never heard of those corporate sponsors, etc.

Why is everyone blaming Newt Gingrich for this? He is not the one who made the "mistake" but someone who work in his 527.

Actually, the adult entertainment industry is a good example of how the free market can make an industry profitable. It is also one of the largest industries in the world. As opposed to the health care industry, which is actually an oligopoly in most states, and a monopoly in some.

Seriously, if this is a legal business, why are the pro-business Repubs recinding the invite?

    Don't they like free enterprise?

Privacy please! Newt still wants to be entertained. But it is probably a contract with some side of America that we don't know about. It is abundantly clear as to which side of the issue he is with. Government out of the way, out of sight, but somehow this news got out!

This is exactly the kind of value that Republicans want to promote! Family values, Sunday Sermon, Monday Anymoon! Folks, Great Heritage.

The exec was obviously on the list because they had previously given large sums of money to the cause, not surprising as this industry is flush with cash and has a vested interest in gaining access to legislators in order to ensure their "business" does not become ensnared with new 'blue" laws, etc. This has nothing to do with sex, other than to highlight that anyone who pays can gain access, regardless of who they are. Does this really surprise anyone? Haven't we known our politicians have been for sale for years? Yawn.

Funny to see Newt change his tune from Entrepreneur of the Year on a hand written note to Sorry, Wrong Person. The mistake seems to be that others were paying attention.

come on... the names must have been made up on this story. or is it just absolute serendipity? the owner of a toppless club is mistakenly sent an invite to have dinner with Newt, and a Mr. Pecker is the one who has to tell her that the invite is being withdrawn. talk about trut being stranger than fiction.

The handwritten notes should be investigated. Appears there is a rat in the pantry. Would you sabotage invitations if the opportunity arose? Most ethical and moral people would not. You can dis Newt all you like -
it doesn't make any of it true. Get your mind on important things for a change.
