(CNN) - As lawmakers huddled this summer to put together the framework for health care legislation, it quickly became evident that the battle over President Obama's top priority would be neither quick nor easy.
After months of debate and missed deadlines, the public option has emerged as the main sticking point.
From the beginning, some Democrats said they wouldn't pass a bill without a government-sponsored, public option, while other Democrats and most Republicans said they'd say no to any plan that included one.
Don’t forget to vote out these posers. They pretend to be Democrats, but they are nothing more then puppets of their corporate masters. The democrats that voted against the Public Option and thus voted Americans to die are as follows with along with some of their 20 top contributors:
Max Baucus: THE BIGGEST DIRT BAG OF THEM ALL: Pharmaceuticals/Health, Health Professionals, Insurance, Lobbyists,
Hospitals/Nursing Homes, Health Services/HMOs
Thomas Carper: Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Amgen Inc
Kent Conrad: Amgen Inc, Kindred Healthcare, Northwestern Mutual, Blue Cross/Blue Shield
Blanche Lincoln: American Physical Therapy Assn, American College of Radiology, College of American Pathologists, Blue Cross/Blue Shield
Bill Nelson: One of the few that truely voted his mind rather then being a puppet.
You better add that public option!!!
We absolutely need improvements in our health care system. It is too expensive for everyone to participate. Why do Democrats interpret this to mean that the government just needs to throw a bunch of money at it? That's exactly what they did for unemployment and it did not work. That's exactly what they did for the housing crisis and it did not work. That's exactly what they did for GM and Chrysler and it did not work. We are already into debt levels that no nation has ever known before. When do they give up on the strategy of throwing America's money at problems and actually start figuring out how to fix them?
If it is the Insurance companies fault health care is such a mess........why don't the politicians reform them instead of trying to get into the health care business anyway? Work on reforming insurance and making insurance available and affordable for anyone who wants to purchase it. Allow insurance companies to cross state lines.
Republicans stand in solidarity... they won't vote for any plan, with or without the Public Option. The sooner everyone realizes this, the sooner we can just move on to installing the plan the Dems want, since they're the only ones that want to install a plan, period.
Republicans are just delaying the process as long as they can. That's the "only" plan they have.
Access can be made available for all, without it being government run. Anyone who wants to PURCHASE their healthcare should have the right to do so...............but, it is not "free" for some, while the rest of us pay for them.
This whole mess is just starting to walk all over The Constitution and Bill of Rights. If we want something done its time for a new government. I'm voting for the only change that will work, TOTAL!!!
If there is no public option there is no healthcare reform.Dems better show some gut's and pass this or forget about it .
Let the Republicans just try to filibuster the public option. They will lose, badly. The public is behind a public option 2-to-1 - Senators, you need to catch up!
There's no easy way. The market won't bring prices down themselves. A well regulated public option can do just that without tanking private insurers. I do understand why the madate for all to be insured, but I ain't exactly happy bout it. Maybe do like they do with auto insurance and let them get a $10,000 bond. And I'd like to know exactly where these proposed cuts to medicaid are coming from. IF they say they can cut it down without cutting benefits, I'd like to know how.
I think everyone should look over every aspect on what the public option entails before you start spouting off. It sounds good, but is it really?
Where is all the wording on what it entails? Let everyone decide for themselves without all these campaign adds and propaganda, let us read it word for word.
Also will the seniors have access to this also, and will it cost them, who have little money three times more because of age???
Congressmen Please answer these questions!!!!!!
Also, is the Government going to have to abide by everything that you push out to us?
If there is not at least a non-profit option, I hope there will be such a revolt that the civil war will look like a walk in the park.
For me they might as well get my jail cell ready because I will not buy for profit insurance or pay a fine.
MY HEALTH IS NOT FOR PROFIT.
Just the people running us into the ground.
Public Option is the worst possible solution. Let people buy across state lines, provide tort reform, and provide vouchers to the poor. Then, make sure people can't be denied coverage. THAT'S IT! Simple, and everyone can read it.
What is it about "option" people don't understand. If you like what you aready have, such as myself, then you keep it.
The privlige i look fwd to is to lower out-of-pocket costs due to competition. So people, stop being Anit-Democrat/Republican and let's be For Americans.
I 'm loving the fact that people in PA, NJ, and NY are blathering that Baucus (from Montana) is done. Really? Unless you work for ACORN, I can't take that seriously! He has to represent HIS people, and unless you are registered in Montana, you don't get a vote, unless you're ACORN!
The longer the healthcare debate continues, the more money they make from the lobbyist. It's not about saying no or yes to healthcare reform, it's about lining pockets with gold. Stop being stupid out there people, you aren't going to get one red cent either way. you've been had.
This is clearly mind boogling. The libs have a 60 vote filibuster proof majority in the Senate, a super majority in the House and you own the White House! Yet the GOP is the reason you can't get this done? Maybe its the the plan that sucks and some dems (Blue Dogs) know it!
