WASHINGTON (CNN) - Hours before the first official faceoff between the three candidates fighting to be New Jersey's next governor, Republican hopeful Chris Christie released a spoof music video on the Internet that asks voters if they can afford four more years of Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine.
Christie's campaign put out a parody of the viral FreeCreditReport.com commercials on a variety of social networking sites on Thursday, showing two young men playing guitars and singing that they "gotta vote for him before we drown in debt."
"I was shopping for a pad for my baby, a cool condo or up in a tree," they sing in the video. "Too bad I didn't know my governor was whack, taxes are too high, my pay check is getting jacked."
Corzine released his own television ad on Thursday touting his record as governor, and saying that he still has "more to do." The ad is airing on cable stations in New Jersey.
"There's more to do, it's a work in progress, and we have more to do to get our fiscal house in order," Corzine said in the ad. "I think I can do that."
The debate on Thursday night will feature Corzine, Christie and independent candidate Chris Daggett. The gubernatorial election is November 3.
