Palin camp's Schmidt response: Wait for the book

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Sarah Palin is remaining silent about a sharp jab directed at her Friday by former John McCain campaign manager Steve Schmidt, who predicted that a potential Palin presidential bid in 2012 would be "catastrophic."

A spokeswoman for the former Alaska governor said Palin is holding her fire until her new book is released next month.

"The governor will write about all of this in her book," Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton said in an e-mail, referring to the internal fighting that marred the final weeks of McCain's president bid. "There will be plenty of time to talk about it then."

"I think that she has talents," he said of McCain's former running mate during a panel discussion with CNN's John King. "But my honest view is that she would not be a winning candidate for the Republican Party in 2012, and in fact, were she the nominee, we could have a catastrophic election result."

Schmidt was speaking at The Atlantic's "First Draft of History" Conference in Washington, D.C.

It is not her "fault" for being in the spotlight. It is the fault of the GOP who are so disorganized and unfocused that anyone, just anyone, even someone like Palin or the Gaga girl becomes a star to them, the mediocre layer of Americans who accept the less that the mediocre to lead them, and mostly, the media who are avid of any piece of information that can put a good buck on the table. The world is on the brink of going crazy, it needs responsible people who CAN make responsible decisions. Wake up America and don't repeat a mistake that is worse than that of electing Goerges Bush. If the world Bush left behind can be qualified as catastrophic, the one Palin would leave will be called apocalyptic! Incompetence is bad, but ignorance and stupidity is dangerous.

To all you elitist liberal hate mongers: A fiscal conservative WILL be elected in 2012 because of the dispicable leadership of Democrats! It's too bad that we have to wait that long for the inevitable. Palin along with several others will be able to defeat Nobama in a landslide. Obviously, the nomination process will determine who it will be. For the time being, keep spewing your hatred while your Party is selling the US down the river!

That the disenfranchised, the Ludites, the financially frustrated and socially constricted, angry and vociferous extremist groups support Palin, says an enormous amount about her qualities. Rabble-rousing, plaid-shirt waving, gun-toting and bigoted Pailin is showing the world the ugly, poorly educated, xenophobic side of our population.

Discussion of specific issues, topics, in-depth understanding of complex national and international problems, is given a wide berth by Palin and pals and (pseudo) patriots.

If Glen Beck is called a 'journalist', why are people surprised by Sarah Palin's presidential aspirations? America is a country of possibilities where loony toones are allowed to high posts including the highest of all – The Presidency!. This lady can't spell her first name let alone write a book unless guided by some responsible adult; and I rest my case!

Couric: I'm just going to ask you one more time – not to belabor the point. Specific examples in his 26 years of pushing for more regulation.

Palin: I'll try to find you some and I'll bring them to you.

Wow the posters here really love to attack Palin about her book. If you dont want to read about the book or the story printed here, please hit that little red button in the upper right hand corner. Its such an easy solution. Gees you guys all say Palin is not smart. How dumb is sticking around on a news webpage to comment on politicians that you will never vote for and who dont currently hold office, and I might add do not currently weild any power within the government at all. There must be something else to all the anger against her-I recommend a psych eval or just stay off the internet for a while. PDS takes time to get rid of. There is no cure ever, because Palin is here to stay, all you can do is control the symptoms and try to ignore her if you dont like her, or learn to deal with the reality that your opinion is not going to have any effect on whether Palin runs for office or not.

PS–I really think you commentors that keep whacking Palin's intelligence are a lot like Letterman. He spent a lot of time making derogatory jokes about politicians scandalous affairs, but it turns out Pervy Letterman was the one having the affairs.

We all know what will be in the book. The book will be about how the mainstream media were unfair to Palin, how the mainstream media were in the tank for Obama and gave him the election. Of course, this does not explain how George W. Bush won two terms, but I don't want to make things too complicated for Palin supporters.

"we could have a catastrophic election result"

    We had one with McCain.

Now we have Obama and 9.8% unemployment.

    Couldn't get any worse.

Maybe next time around people will learn not to vote in inexperienced Socialist.

I am amazed at the reaction of the left to someone who is supposed to be so irrelevant.
If she is the loser you claim then ignore her.

    But you can't can you?

So you're okay with her being totally incompetent, a liar, and unworthy of higher office – just because liberals (and anyone else with a triple digit IQ) dislike her?

You reap what you sew – you elected the fool GWB to two terms and the country almost went bankrupt. And now you wallow in the glow of another knuckle-dragging neophyte.

I guess you can't coach stupid. It's no wonder the world thinks Muricans is dumb...

I'm curious about her book. If she writes the way she speaks, jumping topics mid-sentence and jumbling unrelated phrases together, it would make for a great poetry reading.

I have already preordered the book. I hope she does run. She was the only reason to vote McCain. The left is unhinged and threatened by her appeal and so are some of the posters here.

Palin is as smart as any liberal candidate, which isn't hard to beat.
But more importantly, she is as smart as any GOP candidate.

Reading the comments from McCain's campaign head is hilarious. Do I really need to read what he thinks of her when he so obviously made it clear that he hated her before and did all he could to rip her to pieces during the campaign?
And reading all the comments here is so typical. All dems ridicule her as if we expected anything different from them too. They ridiculed Clinton so Obama could win so hating another woman shouldn't be unexpected. They both dared to go against the media's history maker.
