WASHINGTON (CNN)– The 'First Dude' of Alaska will no longer be working in the oil fields.

The Alaska Dispatch reports Todd Palin has quit his job with BP’s North Slope operation. The newspaper quotes BP Company spokesman Steve Rinehart as saying Palin submitted his resignation last month and officially resigned September 18.

As a production operator, Todd Palin was responsible for management of the oil gathering centers, where oil is gathered from multiple wells.

BP PLC is one of the largest energy companies in the world.

Todd Palin, the "First Dude" to former Governor Sarah Palin, shot to national fame along with his wife when she was named Republican vice presidential nominee. He also professionally races snowmobiles (known in Alaska as “snowmachines) and is a commercial fisherman.

News of his resignation comes about two months after Sarah Palin's resignation from office on July 26.

Wow they both quit their jobs. No doubt they'll blame Obama for the high unemployment rate in the Pailn family – they would never take responsibility for their own actions.

Some guy quit his job ... so what!? He quit his job because they have enough money to do so, every one of you would do the same thing.

The election is done & people need to get over it. Those of you still spewing hate need to count down slowly, snap your fingers & wake up from your propaganda induced hypnosis.

I think the republican party has sunk so.....low, that they will put both of those "slum dogs" on the ticket in 2012.

Why is this news? Hey good for him, if that's what he wants to do, but I really would like to see more news and less gossip. There's already media outlets for this type of stuff. We're in trouble folks, and we need to come together as best we can in order to move forward, rather than spewing ugliness at hate at each other.

Now the Palins can devote their time to Alaskan secession from the United States, setting up their own little hillbilly theocratic facist state, ban higher education (all anyone needs to know is in the bible) and promote unwed teen pregnancy.

Why is this news? You libs are absolutely pathetic. You are so worried that his wife might get support that you will resort to attacking the entire family.

Gee, I thought they were having financial problems with all the legal bills. That was one of her reasons for quitting her job. Can't imagine that Oil job is low paying. So he quits. What a pile of crap, and I'll throw them both in that pile.

opportunists, living the republican dream of the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer.

I didn't know he had a real job in the first place. I guess he is just going to sponge off the book royalties from his wife. What are they going to do when no one cares what the crazy woman has to say any more.

Boy, Todd shares one characteristic with Sarah; he can smell the big bucks! I wouldn't spend the money from the ghost-written book too quickly. The wife is already past her 15 minutes of fame.

It is facinating to see the absolute FIXATION the left, the media, and the former McCain campaign have on the Palins, even though they all repeat ad naseum how dumb and irrelevant they both are. Either they all know they will all be made fools of if she runs in 2012, or they are all a bunch of paranoid fear mongers. Either way, it's not a pretty picture for Palin detractors.
