Alaska's 'First Dude' resigns

Todd Palin quit his job in the oil fields.

Todd Palin quit his job in the oil fields.

WASHINGTON (CNN)– The 'First Dude' of Alaska will no longer be working in the oil fields.

The Alaska Dispatch reports Todd Palin has quit his job with BP’s North Slope operation. The newspaper quotes BP Company spokesman Steve Rinehart as saying Palin submitted his resignation last month and officially resigned September 18.

As a production operator, Todd Palin was responsible for management of the oil gathering centers, where oil is gathered from multiple wells.

BP PLC is one of the largest energy companies in the world.

Todd Palin, the "First Dude" to former Governor Sarah Palin, shot to national fame along with his wife when she was named Republican vice presidential nominee. He also professionally races snowmobiles (known in Alaska as “snowmachines) and is a commercial fisherman.

News of his resignation comes about two months after Sarah Palin's resignation from office on July 26.

It's funny to read folks' posts about how the "lefties" are going to make negative comments about Todd Palin's resignation.

If you look at the facts objectively, there's no other conclusion than negative to come to, given this sequence of events.

If Sarah Palin hadn't been caught up in the cynical manipulations of Karl Rove and the Republican leadership – whose only goal is cause is to regain power, at the expense of everyone and everything – no one would know about Todd Palin and he'd be just another working stiff going out to the Alaskan oil fields every day.

He and his wife are trading on their 15 minutes of fame, abandoning their obligations for the sake of money and celebrity.

What kind of "values" are those?

Good ole wifey can bring home the bacon by giving speeches and having someone else write her books for her. Why work? Now they both can stay home and watch their kids together, and hopefully they wont have any more teenage pregnancies out of the other ones.

Wow, the Palin chronicles get more and more interesting everyday. I know the GOP is lucky to have her and so are the Democrats. HA_HA_HA

Maybe BP only kept him around because Sarah was governor and it was politically helpful to do so. Now that she is no lnoger governor it may have been a choice between quitting or being fired.

Ha, I guessed there would be a lot of "runs in the family jokes". But this probably isn't a big deal, who knows why he quit, maybe he's doing something somewhere else, it doesn't compare to Sarah Palin's. But if he's quitting to write books to... well... that's just hilarious.

Well SOMEBODY's got to be around to tell Sarah what her book says.

Wow – some dude is attacking Obama's weak character and moral fiber? The sad part is, this is probably a Rush Limbaugh fan.

You may disagree with our president's policies – unlike the majority of Americans (healthcare or overall, take your pick, he's over 50% on both). That's fine. But let's get some stuff clear – he's a US Citizen, he's a Christian, not a Muslim, and he is not purposely being misleading about healthcare.

He is a straight shooter who wakes up every day to do what he feels is right for his country, not his backers, and the right is failing in their attempt to paint him any other way except amongst the right wing die hards and some racists who can't get past the black thing.

He loses some people on individual issues, you have to expect that. But overall, when you look at the situation he was given as he came into office and the huge healthcare issue he tackled, he's still doing amazingly well in the polls.

You go, BHO. Most of us out there are still in awe of the job you are doing.

Good for Todd Palin and his family,we dont know why he quit. Its not for us to decide why he quit. Hope everything is O.K. with their family.
God bless their family cause I know they have been through alot.
There have been alot of mean things said about them on this site, they are human being, we need to be nicer to one another, and treat people with respect.

With Sugar Mama now on the GOP gravy train, why work? He can stay home and cook, clean and watch the kids while Mama flies around picking up big paychecks from the speaker's circuit. I'd do the same thing, too.

Why work when you don't have to?

Trust me, this clan of Alaskan yokels will be pulling up stakes and high-tailin' it to one of the big media centers (LA or NY) so Ma Palin can take a job as an overpaid commentator (common 'tater?) on Fox "News." That's where the money is for her–this politickin' just requires too darn much thinkin'!

All the lefty Palin haters get your shots in. My spouse does not work outside of our home, because I make enough money to support us. I certainly wish I made Gov. Palin's money. If the roles were reversed, I would be at home with my children while my spouse worked. The left hates this woman (and everyone related to her) because she has achieved success by choosing a path they cannot follow. She has ascended to the Governorship, and been nominated as VP, while opting for faith, family, pro life beliefs, attractiveness, motherhood, femininity, and a host of other traditional roles. The left (you know, the party of women and minorities) has spent decades telling women and young girls that these roles are oppressive and will lead to failure.

seems to me that Obama made a ton of cash off of a couple of books.... Did you liberals howl and scream when he did?? I didn't think so..... Do you pitch a fit that Mrs. Obama doesn't work??? Oh I forgot, liberals have one standard and give everyone else a different standard.... Cant wait until Obama is gone from the White House, he's destroying the nation......

Why should Todd Palin's resignation from a job be such a newsworthy piece of information. Does anyone really care??
There has been more than enough news about Sarah Palin and her family. I suppose we will be subjected to the constant news about how well her book and speaking engagements are selling. Once again - let's just drop her and her family from all news. There are more important people and issues worthwhile reporting!!!!!!

Is it any suprise that white trash, when pulled from obscurity and thrust into the national spotlight, continues to act like white trash? The Palin's are looking to CASH-IN on whatever fame they may have for whatever reason. She turned her back on the people of Alaska and abandoned her post as Governor so she could make some money.
I still blame the GOP for recklessly putting this women on a presidential ticket, and prospectivly a heart beat away from the Presidency. It is still outrageous a year later!!
