Liberals see health care hero in freshman Florida lawmaker

Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Florida, attracted attention for a tirade in the House against the GOP's health care plan.
Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Florida, attracted attention for a tirade in the House against the GOP's health care plan.

(CNN) – Could a little-known freshman Democrat from a conservative-leaning Florida district be just what the doctor ordered for liberals wary of what they view as a timid president too ready to compromise on overhauling health care?

A little more than a week ago, few Americans had heard of Rep. Alan Grayson, who represents the Orlando area, and more than a handful of his congressional colleagues may not have been able to pick the 6-foot-4, 51-year-old out of a lineup.

But that was before the combative Bronx-born congressman and Harvard-educated lawyer took to the floor of the House of Representatives last week, shocking the few Republicans within earshot when he dramatically declared the GOP health care plan is "Don't get sick, and if you do get sick, die quickly."

Listen to this moron talk for 2 minutes, and he sounds like a liberal hero. He is an illustration of what's wrong with Congress. They self-promote, make money for backers, try to get re-elected....but don't care about taxpayers! Get this bum out! In fact, get all the bums out in 2010. Both parties.

I love this guy...no fooling around, no lies, just tell it like it is and let the chips fall where they may. Unlike the Republican 'stars' who manipulate the truth and get all self-righteous when their lies are pointed out, Grayson pulls no punches. Maybe the Dems will grow a pair yet and get this thing done.

Republicans can lie over adn over about "death panels", "government takeovers", access for ilegal immigrants, and rationing and the media gives them a pass.

A courageous Democrat calls the Republicans on thier lack of any constructuve participation on this dire problem and suddenly he is out of line?

    Bull Hockey

Tell it like it is Al! Republicans may hate you but Americans love you!

Only a clueless Democrat Congressman and the lefts rabid hatefilled following would truly believe that Republicans would want the people voting for them to die. The stupidity of this comment, plus the stupidity of the President and his Democrat Congress to make this a battle cry for a takeover over 6% of the economy through healthcare, is mindboggling.

So, by making some kind of outlandish claim and encouraging hyper-partisanship this guy is labeled a hero?

I think he's symptomatic of the larger problem in Washington.

SEEK CHARITY IS THE HEALTHCARE OPTION Republican candidate for Va. Gov. Bob McDonnel gave someone who asked for help for her sister who needed emergency surgery and had no insurance because she had recently lost her job.

Reality is not just a TV Show, BOB

I still think he's proof that human beings are closely related to Neanderthals, no matter what anthropologists say.

I didn't like "You lie" when it was said, and we shouldn't like his remarks earlier.

We are supposed to be sending statesman, not cavemen, to the legislature.

Grayson said it like it is. The GOP would rather see the country go down the toilet than have Obama succeed. Look at the 8 rotten years of Bush/Cheney.

The liberals could certainly use a Rush and Glen to outshout the right wing nutjobs. Apparently, like advertising, it works.

I do not care what they see, it is the right time to pass this much needed HEALTH CARE REFORM WITH PUBLIC OPTION NOW...NOW...Republicans, you just do not give hard time to this reform.....you lose in elections...people are watching...to cut costs, I suggest, use PAs...(Physician Assistants) in rural areas...they are the wonderful Doctors....listen...my Doctor is not MD...my Doctor is a PA...A wonderful doctor..with lot of experience, knowledge...and ethics...and charges lot less than any one else....in America....ok....Listen, to this educated one....Hospitals, you do not hire Foreigners.....we have lot of PAs....just use them....instead of paying 150k to MD...you pay 100K to PA.....they work excellent...simply excellent.....in medicine...Experience is needed....than any thing else...ok...God Bless the nation.....

Grayson is the only Dem I've seen who has shown and spine so far. We need many more like him.

What is lost in the whole health care debate is health care. The debate is over control and payment not over quality of care. Americans deserve the opportunity for the best, unrestricted, uninhibited care in the country. Care where Dr and patients make choices based on health needs. Why do drug companies spend as much in adverising in magazines and TV as on research? Prescription drugs should be selected by the Dr for whats best for a patient. Not a patient demanding a well advertised drug. Carefully define tort liability reform, so prudent decisions can be made without $1000's in unneeded tests. – This is know first hand.

Interesting how the liberals see the hero in someone who makes the most vile and erroneous personal attack. This says more about liberal intollerance in their quest for the all-powerful State than it does about anything else.

Grayson is a fool, another useful idiot for the far left fringe.
