Liberals see health care hero in freshman Florida lawmaker

Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Florida, attracted attention for a tirade in the House against the GOP's health care plan.
Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Florida, attracted attention for a tirade in the House against the GOP's health care plan.

(CNN) – Could a little-known freshman Democrat from a conservative-leaning Florida district be just what the doctor ordered for liberals wary of what they view as a timid president too ready to compromise on overhauling health care?

A little more than a week ago, few Americans had heard of Rep. Alan Grayson, who represents the Orlando area, and more than a handful of his congressional colleagues may not have been able to pick the 6-foot-4, 51-year-old out of a lineup.

But that was before the combative Bronx-born congressman and Harvard-educated lawyer took to the floor of the House of Representatives last week, shocking the few Republicans within earshot when he dramatically declared the GOP health care plan is "Don't get sick, and if you do get sick, die quickly."

He had the courage to say what so many of our are thinking.
The republicans have tried everything they can to destroy Health
    Care Reform.
They have spewed lies, distortions, incited hate, anger, fear mongering, division of our country.
Have never in my lifetime seen a political party stoop to the
    level they have.
We don't need to worry about foreign terrorists as many domestics
are doing the job for them.

Here is a true patriot and defender of the American public, and one of the few voices on the left to cut through all the lies and noise from the right. God will watch over the Alan Graysons of our world, and banish the Joe Wilsons of the world to burn in hell for eternity.

Heck yeah... Alan's the first Democrat I've heard tell it like it is in ways that republicans can understand. Dems need to follow his lead and play smashmouth with those idiot republicans.

Congressman Alan Grayson has something the vast majority of the Democrats lack,.. a spine. The Democratic party won the last two national electons. How about trying to act like it!

It is very unfortunate the President went South on us on demanding a public option that would serve all Americans quite nicely. It is even more unfortunate Harry Reid also went South as well. Why is it so difficult to understand; all people want is the opprotunity to keep from dying early in life, and yes, the goverment should help out.

As to these six democratic Senators who want to vote against a public option, well 2010 is coming fast and we " The People" will deal with that as well.

God Bless you, Rep. Grayson, for telling the truth about the anti-everything GOP. They don't want Obama to score any points for fixing the multitude of problems they caused and would rather have America burn in flames than lose one issue to a black Democrat.

  10. Grayson's Anatomy: Jesus Christ the Son of God Against StOoPiD Dumb Ass Republicans

Finally, someone with who uses the Audacity of Hope to Overcome the Ignorance of Nope. When a Republican succeeds, millions of Americans lose. Grayson needs to finish the job by rallying Dems to vote and force passage of Obama's Health Care Plan – END of Story. America voted a Democratic government in power. That means we must not listen to the Re-Dumb-Agains no matter what. Health care should not be debated. It is a basic human need and right. The Dems have declared holy war against the prick ass retaaaaaahded bastard Rethuglican'ts and we are going to win and pass Obama's plan in spite of their retaaaaahded StOoPiD efforts to deny Americans health care. Glory to God in the Highest. Hallelujah! Can I get an "Amen" from somebody? Bury the Republicans in a shallow grave and let the worms eat the flesh from their putrid rotting bones and then spit on their memory and piss on their heads.

    In Jesus name – Amen.

No wonder a liberal would find this idiot heroic, I live in Florida and this guy is part of the problem our State has. A New York yankee transplant lawyer with a liberal agenda for a predominantly Conservative State. His argument of "praying" for the 45,000 that die each year without healthcare insurance is a fraudulent argument to begin with. That number equates to .015% of the population, more people die of bee stings each year. It would be cheaper to buy each of those 45,000 people and individual policy than initiate what the liberal Democrats want. This guy is a nut job and will NOT be re-elected next cycle, that is a guarantee!

Americans NEED SOMEONE to be a HERO for US! We ELECTED the Democrats & gave them a DEMOCRAT for a president so they could give us HEALTHCARE & HEALTHCARE REFORM THAT DESPERATELY NEEDED. ( excuse the shouting)

45,000 Americans DIE every year from lack of healthcare.

IF 45,000 Americans were dying from terrorist attacks, you can bet that the Republicans, would be rioting in the streets & demanding that we nuke the Middle-East.

However, 45,000 Americans DIE every year from lack of healthcare, and the Republicans are more concerned about Big Pharma & Big Insurance than they are about ....... We, the People!

We want a Public Option. Competition= capitalism!

We can no longer tell the truth in this country. We are sorounded, conditioned and intimidated by lies. What Rep. Grayson said is the refreshing truth in place of all the lies and distorsions.

Grayson is correct: republicans oppose this reform, and therefore they prefer to let 40,000 people die every year for lack of insurance.

It might not sound pretty, but its the awful truth. Without this reform, not only will we bankrupt ourselves with health costs – but people will continue to die unnecessarily.

Isn't is interesting that a great many people are Republicans for one issue only......abortation. However, the Republican party after the child is born could care less about that same child. They would only like that child born so they are die in their stupid wars. They only life they value is their own.

He said what many were afraid to say.. It is about time the democrats start fighting back.. The republicans have had a field day with all the lies and scare tactics they have been spouting. Time to say it like it is and call out the lies and liars from whatever party they belong to. If they (repub or demo's) don't want health care for the American people, then we should insist that they loose their insurance. After all we are paying for insurance we CAN'T use, why should we pay for something we DON'T use, as that jerk said about maternity care said.

The Dems shold take lessons from this guy. He's the only one on their side of the isle that has the guts to stand up to the opposition and speak his mind. If the Dems use some muscle, they can get anything through Congress.
