White House: Fox is 'opinion journalism masquerading as news'

(CNN) - The Obama White House is ramping up its offensive against Fox News.

This summer, President Obama signaled his unhappiness with the network. "We've got one television station entirely devoted to attacking my administration."

Over the past month, that discontent has translated into an all-out war against Fox. Last month, Obama notably skipped a sitdown with Fox as he plugged his health care bill in one-on-one interviews on every other major news network. Earlier this month, the White House published a rare blog post directly attacking a news organization, slamming Fox for its "disregard for the facts" and pointing readers to an independent fact-checking organization that had debunked "more Fox lies."

Now, White House Communications Director Anita Dunn is questioning whether Fox is in the news business at all. "It's opinion journalism masquerading as news," she told Time of the news network, in an interview released Thursday. Dunn also made it clear this won't be the last White House blast aimed at the network: "They are boosting their audience. But that doesn't mean we are going to sit back."

Obama is scared of Foxnews because they are the only truthful news and they don't kiss his feet like CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC.

Funny...Obama is a community organizer Socialist masquerading as a president.

I hear more lies and half truths from the Democrats and Obama than I do from Fox News.

For example, Obama said if you like your health care you can keep it. That was a lie. Your employer will have the option of dumping you into a public option if they want. 8.5 % payroll tax was the key.

If GM spends more than 8.5% of it's payroll expense on health care, they would save money by dumping their employees into the public option....Whether the employee wants it or not.

By the way, bush got it worse from the media and you never heard his people speak out against any one news channel.

Obama is way to sensitive…like Kim Jong-il sensitive

For those pointing out Fox's high ratings and bestselling books by right-wingers, I ask this: The Jonas Brothers sell a lot more albums than Richard Thompson. A whole lot more. Does this mean that they're better musicians and songwriters? No. It means that most Americans have atrocious taste in music. Have a nice day!

Sad, good for the goose but not the gander? When you have "fair & unbaised" news – ofcourse the social democrats will be up in arms and complaining. Who then would be left to inform the masses of such glorious organizations' such as ACORN's standard operating procedures and the ACLU with thier cross removal lawsuits and corrupt socialist democrat polititions who don't pay thier taxes? CNN? ABC? Neither of those stories made it on this network for nearly a week after FOXNews broke them. This comment will ofcourse not be displayed because – this is not FOXNews – no fair & unbaised here.

I see the FOXIES are here defending their network in fuill force, yet they want to discredit CNN and other REAL news channels as they do so. So it's ok for FoxNews to tell lies about the Obama adminstration but when called out on it the president can't take it is their spin. I for one am GLAD he's calling them out. You FOXIES need to go back to where you're loved and obviously it's not here.

Thank you White House. Fox News is NOT news! It's the GOP's machine to keep people conservative and anti-democratic. All you have to do is watch a few mins of it to see that. This is what fox news always talks about: crime, anti-health care reform, anti-obama, anti-europe, anti-liberals, blah blah. They make people afraid! You have conservative orgs geeting people all crazed up about health care, then you have FOX news producers sturring up the crowds at protests so they can get good camera shots its ALFUL. CNN, your not innocent either, quit legitimizing FOX and there crazy followers by looking at stories from their crazy angles for ratings. Its disgusting, I'm a 19 year old and i have to turn to online newspapers for news because the TV is so politically driven.

Well...when FOX refuses to play the president's speech, what did they expect? They made it clear a while back that they don't want to hear anything he has to say, so why should he give them the time of day?

Isn't there a 'truth in labeling' law in this country? if so, there should be a bug at the bottom of the screen on Faux News saying something like 'content may be harmful to your ability to make valid judgements about anything going on in the country today.'

There is not one ounce of credible news on Fox. They PAID for the "tea parties" Creating news! hands down... they suck. It's a disgrace and a signal that this country is getting dumber by the year. Wake up America... before it's too late.

Personally I'm happy he's ignoring Fox....they don't deserve his attention.
I don't remember Cheney or Bush running around doing junkets with other news sites. And as for their "ratings"...sure it's higher ...most of their fans don't read and spend HOURS in front of the television.

It is kind of the presses job to be critical of the President, so FOX is doing their job. MSNBC and CNN are the ones not doing their jobs. And bringing the highest office in the land down to the presses level is ummm stupid

There are many networks that actively avoid reporting anything negative about this white house. One network reports the good with the bad and they get slammed...go figure

The administration cannot bear to have anyone say anything bad about it. This is due to the biased reporting the media gave to Obama during the primary. They made Bill and Hill look horrible and Obama could just about walk on water.

Campaigning was one thing, governing is quite another! The Obama administration doesn't seem to be comfortable governing. Everything they do they do as a campaign.

Fox news just wasn't in the bag for Obama and CNN was pretty good but MSNBC..come on Chris Matthews said Obama sent a tingle down his leg and Keith Obermann....well he speaks for himself. (Kool-aid junkies!)

Faux "News" is and has always been the mouthpiece of the wingnut right of the Repugnant Party. Calling their lying diatribes "opinion" is extremely generous, in my view.

As for all the rest of the news organizations doting on Obama or being left-leaning, you don't have to be a genius to know that's not true. After all, they're all owned and controlled by large corporations, so they're never going to do anything to rock the corporate boat. They all get ads from pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, oil companies, auto makers, and so on, so they'll never do or say anything to promote the demise of their cash cows.

The fact is that the political spectrum revealed by American news organizations is foreshortened on the left to such a degree that a large number of Repugnants appear to be middle-of-the-road, when in reality, they are far to the right, compared to the population as a whole. A large percentage of the population has no representation in media at all. Much less, representation in government.

I really don't believe any of the major news outlets. They all spin things to suit their own perspective. Most of the mainstream media is extemely liberal. There is no such thing as simply reporting the facts.
