(CNN) – In the days after Joe Wilson shouted "You lie!" at President Obama during his address to Congress last month, the South Carolina congressman reached out to several of his longtime confidantes.
A graduate of Washington and Lee University, a school with a strict honor code, and a veteran of the Army Reserves, Wilson was worried he had disappointed those close to him by showing a lack of civility.
"Joe has always operated as a gentleman, and I think for anyone to question if he was continuing to do that is something that concerned him," his friend Ed McMullen said.
But the people close to Wilson assured him that beyond apologizing for the outburst, he did not need to be ashamed for questioning the president's sincerity in the health care debate. Wilson made the outburst after Obama denied his health care plan would cover illegal immigrants, then apologized to the White House later that night.

Wilson's shouting out was something unwarranted, completely disrespectful of our political system and the office of the president.
For the republicans to support his actions is no surprise as
they have become a party that has thrown all honor and integrity to
the wind.
Their destroy our president, win at any cost and victimizing the
American people with their lies, distortions, fear mongering, rather
than working on the survial of our country is a disgrace for our
country.
Considering that Obamacare will accept and cover millions of illegals and the fact the the democrats shoots down any propose amendments to the contrary as they did last week, Obama was indeed lying to the American people when he said that his plan will not cover illegals. Joe was right.
Joe Wilson has dishonoured the Army Reserves. As a veteran of the Army Reserves I HEREBY state that Joe Wilson's apology to the Commander -in- Chief was not sincere and any man with honour, discipline and courage would not have addressed our president as Joe did.
Joe Wilson has no respect for the office of the president. He did'nt have the guts to apologize to his fellow house memebs for the dishonorable act he committed. All the Rush and Sean followers thing he did a great thing. They have no honor as they followed pied pipers and do not think for themselves. What a shame
He should be embarrassed and ashamed. I do not care whether he agrees with the President or not, his behavior was horrible. Where is the respect due the office of the POTUS? Many did not agree with what Bush did, but they did not behave this way while the President was speaking! This country does not need this type of poor behavior and attitude. Even schoolchildren know this type of behavior is not acceptable!

A shame really, as America needs a functioning 2nd party for the system to work. I for one would like a choice in who I vote for. Right now, I see no Republicans on the horizon.

Hmmm, blasted by the left for publicly voicing dissent and exposing the holes in Obama's healthcare Bill. With the majority of the press in the tank for Obama backing his Liberal agendas, I think Wilson did his countrymen a service by speaking up. The only news channel that would possibly report any discrepancies or half truths out of the Whitehouse propaganda machine would be FOX, you don't think a liberal would watch FOX do you? This at least made some of the "thought capable" people on the left to consider Obama's word for what it is, LIES and half truths. Oh yea, what happened to the liberal reporter from the NY Times that heard Wilson use the word "Boy", could it have been another blatant attempt by the liberal left to deceive and redirect debate of an important issue to one of racial basis, the use of deception by the liberals is most masterful to cover their lies.
