(CNN) - A Democratic National Committee spokesman said Friday the GOP has "thrown in its lot with the terrorists" in criticizing the president's Nobel Peace Prize award.

“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists – the Taliban and Hamas this morning – in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize," DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse said in a statement.

"Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize – an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride – unless of course you are the Republican Party," the statement also said. "The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It's no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it's an embarrassing label to claim.”

This man, OBAMA, is not deserving of any award..Let's give it to someone who should recieve, George W Bush...A man who led this country through one of Americas hardest moments (Sept. 11 for those of you who have forgotten) and found the men responsible and went after them. NOT TALKED TO THEM.....Obama shouldn't even be in the running the man is an idiot...

Republicans are traitors. I say, we round them up and put them in jail for treason.

There are a number of brilliant GOP strategists who act very sensibly in the event of any unexpected onslaughts, whilst there are a few others who seem to be seethin' w/ anger at BHO's Nobel award. The less said about it the better.

That's pretty much what the Republicans said about American citizens who criticized Bush.

Doesn't feel good when the shoe is on the other foot, does it, GOP?

Guess what, GOP? You're aligning with terrorists!

Isn't it hard to say that "The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with ... Hamas" when Hamas is praising the award?

The GOP have also energized the Taliban in Afghanistan by bring the discussion about the Afghanistan war strategy into the public arena, rather then hashing it out in a more productive setting behind close doors where the experts can debate the various strategies with out getting entangled in the prevalent GOP politics of “oppose anything that would make President Obama look good.”

Now that's just rich... totally logic reasoning as usual by the DNC.

Anybody who think Obama earned the prize...that was voted on during the first

WHile I beleive that the DNC is speaking with more than a little hyperbole, they do have a point in that the Republicans have become so extreme and vitriolic hatred toward the White House that they, in fact, are beginning to celebrate when America is defeated internationally (Olympics) and cries foul when we are celebrated on the global scale (Nobel Awards).

To be fair to the DNC, however, the Republicans' bitterness against President Obama and their extreme rhetoric is quickly becoming preceived by Americans as being anti-US.

Now..That is a smackdown based on truth.

My Mother (a 74 yr old lifelong Republican) said she will never vote for another Republican again after hearing and watching them cheer when Amercia lost the Olympics.

She looked lost when we were talking abotu what the Party even stand for anymore...She had tears in her eyes as she replied "Well..I guess anything Anti-Amercian right now". She feels flat out betrayed.

well, of course , the DNC would stoop to calling anyone who questions this award as unpatriotic.... its just that alot of people feel you have to do something first to get it....and after the nonsense of Gore winning( while having the big energy eating house) may have left some people jaded....are they giving out nobel prizes in cracker jacks yet?

The 2009 version of the DEMOCRAT Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn (Pelosi, Reid, Rangel, Dodd, Frank, Schumer, Specter, et al.)

Republicans are haters at all cost. Hatred, war, fighting, negativity , and greed is the only thing that keeps them going. And then they claim to be christians. God help us.

Anybody who thinks Obama earned the prize…that was voted on during the first TWO WEEKS OF HIS PRESIDENCY is fooling themselves.

Then again he joins the ranks of Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore and Yasser Arafat. Yes, the peace prize is not what people think it is.

This GOP will never support this President on any thing.

It is clear this GOP is not for the people.

They, based on their actions, are in fact a terrorists organization.

Unfortunately this is the truth, there is nothing Republicans hate more than the word peace.

Not a single American should be disrespectful to our president for his receipt of this international honor. Partisan politics is poisoning all attempts to do well.

  18. DNC is a terrorist organization

The DNC is a terrorist organization and way out of line with its criticism of the GOP – way over the line.

This is the very polarization that is crippling the united States, This does not bode well for Obama or the democratic majority.

Maybe the DNC can explain what Obama actually did to win this prize.

He said we would close Gitmo -– Not done
He was going to pull out of Iraq -- Still there
He was going to end the Afghan War - he is escalating
He said he wants to get rid of ALL nuclear weapons - A LIE

I think most of the free worlds has it right, the contestants on the Miss America contest who pray for world peace are more deserving

The DNC is not doing itself any favors with this kind of response. A day after we hear that the Administration would at least tolerate some Taliban participation in Afghanistan – they now want to say that the GOP has thrown it's hat in w/ the terrorists? These kinds of hysterics that they always use whenever the president is criticized shows how in over their heads this pack of jackals seems to be.

The President did not seek this award. It is an honor bestwed by a totally impartial entity in another country, and they demean him over this?!! What is wrong with our domestic Taliban, the GOP? The world is watching. We do not live in a bubble. The world is seeing how disrespectfully, and how demenaning we are towards someone that the international community has chosen over and over to honor and praise, our own President.

I am ashamed today for us. It is impossible to explain this type of behaviour to any rational human being. What is wrong GOP?? Power has rendered you evil and insane to the bone.

All true! You know, Bin Laden might be a nice candidate in 2012 for the Republilcans. He'd capture the base instantly and Rush would love his hatred for Obama and America.

The words of the DNC spokesman are absolutely true – it doesn't matter what the issue is, the Republican party will take the opposite side, even if they agree with the President. It's no wonder people don't want to admit they are Republican anymore.
