(CNN) - A Democratic National Committee spokesman said Friday the GOP has "thrown in its lot with the terrorists" in criticizing the president's Nobel Peace Prize award.

“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists – the Taliban and Hamas this morning – in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize," DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse said in a statement.

"Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize – an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride – unless of course you are the Republican Party," the statement also said. "The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It's no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it's an embarrassing label to claim.”

I voted for Pres. Obama and wish him the best on most issues (illegal immigrant amnesty excluded), but I believe his winning the Nobel Peace Prize is premature at best.

i don't claim to be a democrate or a republican. but what the DNC says, here, is true.

I'm still wondering when the republicans will stop being part of the problem and start being part of the solution.

Irrespective of what party I am affiliated with, I would be very pleased to know that the President of my country was chosen for such a prestigious award (just as how the Brazilians cheered when their country was chosen for the Olympics).

No truer words were ever spoken.
The definition of terrorists are those out to destroy a country by any means possible.
With the republicans actions we do not need to worry about foreign terrorists as the domestic terrorists are doing their best to destroy our survial and everything our country stands for.

DNC thinks Hamas are terrorists? And the Dems/Obama gave them several hundred million in aid this year? Wasn't that part of the new foreign policy that won the prize? Oh please messiah clear the confusion so I know where to follow you.

Always knew the dumbocrats were all a bunch of morons and this comment from the dumbocrat party definately proves it,if any political party in America has aligned itself with terrorists it's the dumbocrat party. They have proven time and again they would like nothing more than for the US to go down in defeat in every war we've ever been in. Time for real chance-vote the dumbocrats out in 2010. P.S. What exactly has Obummer done to deserve the Nobel peace prize?

Obama's peace prize is the liberal way for trying to soften the blow he took when he failed to win the Olympic games. Same thing happened for Carter the Second worst president in history.

I am proud to claim to be a Republican.

Republicans and Democrats alike are scratching their heads asking what the heck has Obama done to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. The DNC is really reaching here by pretty much calling Republicans terrorists.

Now I have heard about everything.

Does the DNC have a clue how stupid a coment like this makes them look. As always they are out of touch with what the American people want they don't speak for me.

If anything with comments like the DNC made just adds fuel to the fire for terrorists.

Republicans are pro war. They spent 8 years attacking others. It's not a shock that they are against a prize for peace.

Obama inspired the world. all except bitter hateful republicans and Bin Laden heard the call to their better angels for just a moment in time. That call was for basic human decency. Shocking that basic decency has become so rare as to prize. But it has, and that's a wake up call to many, last but not least, the GOP.

The DNC has got it right. I personally am VERY proud of our President Obama. So should all Americans be. Disagree politically if you will, but this is an HONOR.
Please, Mr. President, continue with all the peace-seeking actions that you are taking & all you plan to take.

Absolutely true! Disgusting how the haters are reacting. Instead of being proud our President won the Nobel Peace Prize, they are criticizing the choice of the Committee and saying he doesn't deserve it. They probably think Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney or Rush Limpbag would have been a better choice – or how about Glenn Blech?? Just keep spreading that hate around guys. See how far it gets you come next election. The haters are just like the Taliban and fundamental extremist jihadists. They probably don't realize it, but they are just like them.

Are their any decent, honorable republican politicans out there?
Have yet to hear any acknowledge what an honor it is for our president to receive this prestigious award.
Or is it that CNN would never dare to headline this??

I agree totally. Republicans are embarrassing in their un American statements and actions. They have totally sold out to big business and are only concerned in having an oligarchy controlled by the military.

Aside from the terrorists analogy (which was a stupid thing to add just to tweak the GOP's nose) the statement is dead-on correct.

It seems to me that many in the GOP, led by their hate cheerleaders on Fox, have forgotten that they are Americans. Country first and party and ideology second. If you cannot live by that creed, pack up and get out this country that you profess to love.

I have never seen such disgraeful actions like those coming from the republican party of obstructon and name calling these pastfew weeks.

Cheer we we lose the Olympics and scream when we win the nobel peace prize.. Remember the disgusting acts of these anti-Amercans with nothing more than sour grapes at the polls.

Republicans humiliate America as the rest of the world watches.

Stock up on your weapons and scream socialist. When is Glen Beck going to give the signal to start your revolutonary civi war?

    Pathetic!!!!!!

The Politically Correct Prize for Non-Accomplishment reaches the zenith of hypocrisy. Will Obama’s ego allow him to do the right thing and refuse the prize? Or will he just try to save some face by donating the money to something worthy? Stay… tuned for the next installment of the Theater of the Absurd!

Never has so much been given for so little.

    HILARIOUS!

the DNC is just NOW figuring it out that Al-CIA-DUH, Hamas, and the republican party are all alike, and that they all talk the same talk, and walk the same walk....now if they only knew that during the Bush nightmare era....

heck...if you listen carefully Bin Laden is a mouthpiece and rallies for the republicans.

I was NEVER fooled...i knew it all along who these Neo-Cons REALLY are, and how they get out their messages of hate.
