(CNN) - A Democratic National Committee spokesman said Friday the GOP has "thrown in its lot with the terrorists" in criticizing the president's Nobel Peace Prize award.

“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists – the Taliban and Hamas this morning – in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize," DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse said in a statement.

"Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize – an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride – unless of course you are the Republican Party," the statement also said. "The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It's no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it's an embarrassing label to claim.”

It's true. The conservative attacks on our President coincide and are aligned with those of Al Qaeda, Hamas and the Taliban. They have more in common with those groups than with most Americans.

I'm shocked at what the republican party has become. They don't care about America, they just care about power.

Yet the shot is cheap but true. The terrorists are very upset that the president wins the Nobel prize. Unfortunately, I really cant make the difference between the terrorists reaction and that of the republicans. I really think the republicans have to get on the road of civilization. Join the democrats to pass universal healthcare, pass legislation bettering people's lives so that they can be part of the peace process in lieu of being fear mongers

Hey, don't include Hamas in that group...they actually came out and agreed with the selection! And I'm pretty sure they don't want to fall under the same heading as the GOP!

Its only a matter of time before the GOP's ignorance, disconnect with Americans, and petty b.s. completely destroys their party. I can't wait.

Obviously, the Dems are losing their minds because even though they have the majority they can't get anything accomplished.

So I guess it made sense to them to come out with such a ridiculous statement.

I agree. If the headline were to read "OBAMA CURES CANCER' the RNC would complain that Obama just lost jobs for the medical industry. My Grandfather used to say, "if you only see the negative in life , that is the kind of life you will have". The RNC is holding itself together now with just fear, hatred, and misinformation that now borders on treason.

Yes. The current GOP, with few exceptions, is the most vicious and hate-filled group I've ever seen. They want nothing less than a theocratic, facist state for our gov't. It's as simple as that.

Sorry, DNC, but I'm betting the majority of Americans as well as the world feel this prize is undeserved. Anyone can make a speech about peace but until you actually accomplish something, you shouldn't be rewarded for it.

Granted, it's not Obama's fault that the Nobel Comittee was stupid enough to award him the prize, but for the DNC to say that the Republican party has aligned themselves with terrorists is just flat out wrong unless the DNC also denounces every other group, person, and world leader, American or otherwise, who also criticizes this choice.

  17. Dont blame me

    Wow,

And Obama supports Chavez, Castro, Hamas and has appoplogized to the Arab nations, has apoplogized, to the muslim world, has apologized to the terrorists.

But for Obama to receive the Nobel Peace prize, ( he was only in office for 9 days before the voting cut off date ) just goes to show how CHEAP the prize is.

It is embarrassing to be a republican. Fortunately, there's a solution to that problem.

When will people care enough to take the party back from the nutjobs? Please people, we need to join the republican party and vote out the idiots from within.

I'm glad to see that the DNC is now at least acknowledging the existance of terrorists. Yes, there are people in this world who believe that sensational violence promotes their cause and finally the DNC is admitting that they exist. It's a start and that's all you can ask for.

You would think that finding themselves on the same side of this argument as the Taliban and Hamas would cause Republicans to slow down and think about what they are doing.

But this is just another example of the shallowness of their patriotism. Just as they turn on military men and women who disagree with their politics, Republicans diminish the accomplishments of and American whose politics they oppose and cheer when their opponents come up short (ie. don't get the Olympics).

Like Rush Limbaugh, they want America to fail as long as it is led by a Democrat.

Thank you Chairman for saying what we all have been thinking for a while. That is good leadership to holding these people accountable for the anti-american sentiment that is coming from the right.

i am proud of our president. this is a great honor and demonstrates that mr. obama has at least brought back some respect to our country. the fact that the GOP has to take shots at even this issue just goes to show how partisan they really are. God bless our president and our country.

While I think the 'terrorist' comment is a little extreme, the argument that Republicans seem to be rooting against America is fairly valid.

The Dems should know terrorists. They push for all our CIA secrets to be released that aid terrorist. They want Gitmo shut down to put terroist in our backyard. Dems hate it when anyone questions their beloved Obama. Dems and Obama are a joke. The Nobel prize ain't worth the toilet paper its written onj.
