RNC slams Obama award

(CNN) – Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele is slamming the Nobel Committee's decision to award Presdient Obama the Nobel Peace Prize:

“The real question Americans are asking is, ‘What has President Obama actually accomplished?’ It is unfortunate that the president’s star power has outshined tireless advocates who have made real achievements working towards peace and human rights. One thing is certain – President Obama won’t be receiving any awards from Americans for job creation, fiscal responsibility, or backing up rhetoric with concrete action.”

The RNC is jealous, very jealous. Each receipient of this prestigous award was awarded as mere men and woman trying to bring about an extraordinary feat whether, science, technology, medicine or peace, to change the world in some positive way. To say he has done nothing is to be very unpatriotic. The same people who cry patriotism would be-litte there President, whether you like his policies or not. The negativity that has shown itself through President Obama presidency really shows the need for healing here at home. It's a shame when others abroad see the good and unity this President is trying to bring to this global world and then his countrymen talk bad.
RNC has demonstrated they are sore losers, regardless if Obama won or not.

What is really wrong with republicans? We had a Bush who for his 8 years in office, never made an attempt to bring peace to the world. Now that the current president has made the initiative and being awarded, they are envy about it too.
    A bunch of looser.

And neither will any Republican because they are so busy bringing down this country and blaming it on the current President as if he can fix in nine months what they have broken for eight years or longer. Michael Steele is clearly a token and once his usefulness wears out he will try to be again what he was before a " FOOL"

Peace? What a laugh! With more unemployment daily, the crime rates are skyrocketing, that is violence, NOT peace. He is driving a wedge between the American people, that is NOT peace! The Nobel Peace Prize awarding has become a joke to everyone with more than a 10th grade education in recent years. Try to pick people with meaningful cntributions to the human race and the planet!

If unmitigated gall were gold, then there would never be a shortage of money. I guess they believe Bush and Cheney should have received at least several Nobel prizes. Ha!

I forgot. Did George W. Bush win the Nobel Peace Prize?

This is unpatriotic, this just shows the extent to which the politcal hatred drummed up by the Right wing nut jobs has affected our ability to take pride in the U.S.'s world leadership role. Our president is being honored for promoting peace and freedom, yet his own countrymen toss it to the side like it is some politcal ploy. Lest we forget that George W. only vetoed one spending bill. A bill that would have provided health care to children in need.

Obama winning Nobel Peace Prize, before his actions could even have a historic review just destroyed everything the the Nobel Peace Prize stood for. People are given Nobel Prizes for a lifetime of dedication and service to the people of this planet. Not only did he not do anything that could be historically verified as a service to the world, if anything worthy at all, but the awarding of Obama with a Nobel Prize is a slap in the face of all the great people who have won it since the start of Nobel Prizes. Thanks, Nobel committee for diminishing the Nobel standard that has held true for the past 108 years.

    Unbelievable!

The president of our country wins a global award for peace and the Republicans want to bash that?

Start the backpedalling. This is going to make great campaign material for the Dems!

Michael Steele has no reason to slam the President of the United of America, when he does'nt even have the respect or backing from his on party which is the RNC. Why would you want to be chairman of a party that doen'st respect you as chairman. He needs to sit down and shut up.

Michael Steele should just go somewhere, anywhere and shut up! Steele should ask himself, if Obama was not elected President, would he be the Chairman of the RNC? He should ask also question what has he done for his party, other than become a token. He should also ask himself how does he feel when he hears all the rhetoric about impeaching Obama and folks wanting to take "their" country back? Michael, where do you think you will fit into all of this, so shut up!

OMG!! The reason he hasn't accomplished ANY of those things the RNC listed is because of THEIR obstructionism!! Any American with half-a-brain and see that!!!

The RNC and the Republica Party have become the "Hate America" party. The American President is unsuccessful at attracting the Olympics to the US and the RNC cheers. The American president wins the Nobel peace prize and the RNC attacks the president and the prize. Pathetic and disappointing...

Look I voted for Obama, I'm a democrat, and I think the award was hasty. But don't bash Obama! He had nothing to do with this! Obviously the world has a much different view of Obama than negative and cynical Americans do. If inspiring and giving people hope around the world was the basis of the award, he deserves it, but I believe there should be much more to a Nobel Peace Prize than that. I agree Obama hasn't been able to accomplish all he set out to do, but he's working on it! This has nothing to do with Obama and everything to do with the judges for the prize.

Michael Steele and the Republican Party are utterly classless, and still acting like childish sore losers.

No wonder the American people rate the party at 26%. I'm sure with comments like these, that number will continue to decline.

Question is?.How long has been since his election ?Only 10 month.
President Obama won't be receiving any awards from Americans
job creation, etccc, etccc, but at least has done a lot more in ten month
than President Bush end of story. The only think Republicans can do
is criticize Obama day by day.IT is all about "Politics".I feel sorry for those poor bastards.

    What has he accomplished?

His election echoed the thoughts of a peaceful America, and he beat the pants off of our warmongering Republicans. He's not done.

The Republican party is done, and Glenn Beck and the rest of his loony screamers are about to fracture the Republican party.

Why don't Republican pundits crawl back under their ugly hateful rocks?

The above comment by the RNC is an exact reason why republicans have lost power. Yes... awarding the peace prize was premature..... However, rather than slamming Pres. Obama, the Republican National Com. should congratulate him or at the very least not comment at all.

Again, this is why I left the GOP. Steele is just one of the heads on the hydra killing the party. Overall, the GOP is choking on their immaturity. Obama just won an award. This is no better than Kanye West at the VMA's. Can we the people muzzle these wild dogs?

Wow. I always thought Republicans were anti-America, but I never thought they would come out and admit it like this. This is one of the most despicable things I have ever read. And that is saying a lot considering all the rhetoric they put out.
