(CNN) – Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele is slamming the Nobel Committee's decision to award Presdient Obama the Nobel Peace Prize:
“The real question Americans are asking is, ‘What has President Obama actually accomplished?’ It is unfortunate that the president’s star power has outshined tireless advocates who have made real achievements working towards peace and human rights. One thing is certain – President Obama won’t be receiving any awards from Americans for job creation, fiscal responsibility, or backing up rhetoric with concrete action.”

I think one of the challenges we can look forward to facing today is tolerating the negative comments of the naysayers and pundits who refuse to see the unseen; that peace is in the eye of the beholder. And if my President, President Obama, is "crazy" enough to SEE peace when no one else is even looking for it, then he deserves this and so much more. Great Job Mr. President!!
Wow, based on Steele's comments, I think we all know not only will he never win the NPP, he will never be nominated.
Steele needs to be educated on the meaning of the word PEACE!!
His comments here alone tell you, he has no concept of the meaning.
Why can't these GOP'ers just be proud that OUR President won this wonderful award. They would be dancing in the isles if Bush had won this. Of course their war monger never would have won. The party of NO strikes again.
Not surprising coming from Steele, but wow. Just wow.
His first day in office and signs an executive order for 300 million dallars to kill unborn babies through the act of abortion and you call that peace?
Has done nothing since he has been in office except send us further into debt. This is a joke!
Can't make up his mind on what to do in the Mideast.
This man is crazy. That's all there is to it.
Michael Steele.....look in the mirror.......What have you and your Republican party done?......oh yeah!..that's right!.....nothing!!!......My mom always told me...children (meaning Republicans with their childish "You Lie" behavior) should only be seen and not heard from).................For you and the Republican party, Mr. Michael Steele...........I AGREE THAT THIS SAYING FITS YOU GUYS PERFECTLY!!!
Of course they would slam his win. Would you expect them to do anything less when they gleefully cheer when they view the Olympic bid as his loss?
There has been active deliberate campaign from the beginning to undermine everything he is doing from health care reform to foreign policy.
The Republicans have gone from the fiscally conservative to the hypocritical religious right. The party which hasn't been fiscally conservative in years because it allowed itself to be taken over by the extreme religious right is incredibly exclusive. It doesn't like anyone, even in their own party, who doesn't walk lock step in line with all of their radical religious, hypocritical beliefs.
They’re anti women, anti-gay, anti-atheist, anti-Muslim, anti-Jew, anti-civil rights and have no problem pointing the finger at everybody who isn't just like them.
Then because the party itself doesn't inheritantly believe in the rights of others not like them, they try to do a little window dressing by bringing in Steele and Palin.
Steele they neutered from the beginning and Palin is a prime example of their effort to continue to dumb down America by celebrating mediocrity.
Just as with the primaries and presidential election, the right was screaming loudly how the polls didn't matter until they were leading in them. They were sure that Obama would go down in flames because they convinced themselves that their stereotypical Democrat is too lazy to vote.
Keep believing your own stereotypes and then watch as once again, the election numbers will prove you wrong.
I watched the news break on both FOX and CNN this morning.
HUGE difference in coverage... FOX, I just want the news. I don't want your stupid conspiracy theories on how Obama only won because the world dislikes Bush. Take your own cue, quite blaming it on Bush!!!
Hooray for my President The republicans Michael Steele is a hater this is why we cant succeed in this world is because of haters like him and his followers I congratulate My President on winning this award. You can knock him down on one end but GOD BRINGS HIM UP ON THE OTHER END. KEPP UP THE GOOD WORK PRESSIDENT
Sour grapes from a Republican leader who is so green with jealousy that he can't think straight. Obviously the Nobel committee and the majority of the rest of the world think differently. This just shows that the right wing cannot congratulate and give credit to Pres. Obama no matter what he does. Last week they criticized him for "losing" the Olympic games for your country. This week they are criticizing him for "winning" one of the highest accolades in the world. They are never going to give him credit for anything and that is a sad commentary on their values and obvious partisan direction. Just another negative reaction from the party of NO. People around the world are amazed at how your country is so polarized and yet pretends to be a democracy with the highest values. Show some pride and appreciation for your President who has finally brought respect back to your country and has brought more hope for peace around the world than anybody has in years. Congratulation Pres. Obama
Sore losers! More distraction that has nothing to do with what he was given the prize for. Keep it up party of NO. You're doing a great job for this country... NOT!
They are acting as if he asked for the award. Be upset at the committee that awarded him and let the man do his job. Michael Steele has done nothing. I repeat, NOTHING notable in his life. Being the token for the RNC doesn't count.
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha.The Cons just can't stand it.Why must there be a RNC comment on this?
How about people just saying a simple word - Congratulations. Where' s the patriotism from these people in America's shining moment.
It is a shame that the GOP can't see beyond the end of its partisan nose.
By any standard, this award strengthens our position on the world stage, whether you support Obama or not. It's good for AMERICA. But then, these are the same people who stood up and cheered when the USA
lost the Olympic venue to Brazil. U S A! U S A! (unless it makes Obama look good....).
My question to Michael Steele...
What have you done for the Republican Party?
Once again the RNC is complain about anything. This is a great honor for Obama and he has accomplished more in foreign relations in his first nine months than any president ever. It is nice to finally see a president try to talk to the foreign leaders instead using force for all situations. Thank you President Obama.
The usual. The RNC leaves the country in a total mess. Instead of being proud of another American be honoured, they want him to fail. Not he fails – America fails.
Knew it. Once something is given to Obama, the rethuglikkklans are always there to provide the much needed stupidity and entertainment for the rest of America to laugh at
The world is not asking the question on why President Obama got the award only thr Haters are asking the question
Bitter table for one .... bitter table for one
Correct. Obama is a mirage and a fraud. Nice rhetoric covering up awful policy, huge debt, and complete lies.
Don't hate the player (Obama), hate the game (Nobel peace prize voters)! Obama is just going along doing his thing. Americans voted him into office and now a peace prize committee has just given him an award. It ain't Obama's fault. Stop being weak little haters and go get your own accomplishments.
What do we expect the RNC to say? In this country, we do not have the courtesy to complement each other in the different parties.
