Rollins: Nobel committee cheapens award

Rollins says the committee awarded the Nobel Prize to President Obama prematurely.
Rollins says the committee awarded the Nobel Prize to President Obama prematurely.

(CNN) - Did the Nobel Committee cheapen the Nobel Peace Prize with its choice of President Obama Friday?

CNN Republican strategist Ed Rollins says the award should be based on what someone has done, not what they might do.

"I think this may be way too preliminary," Rollins said on CNN's American Morning. "At the end of four years, maybe he has accomplished something and deserves it. I think it has diminished the award itself."

I think certainly you have to give him an "A" for trying," Rollins also said. But at the end of the day, what has he accomplished? Who on the world stage are his allies at this point in time?"

Last time I checked Mr. Rollins...............

    1) President Obama has spoken with Russia and agreed to dismantle nuclear warheads
    2) President Obama has brought the healthcare debate to the national level for the first time in a meaningful way since the last ambigious attempt more than 50 years ago.
    3) President Obama has placed the spotlight and enormous pressure on Iran to end their nuclear program
    4) President Obama kept the peace when he didn't respond to your buddy Joe Wilson's "You Lie" antics during his nationally televised speech
5)Your words are cheap and they divide people Mr. Rollins. Do you think your words are helping unite our America?...Didn't think so.. That's why you are NOT President and that's why you will NEVER receive a Nobel PEACE prize or any prize for that matter....well....allow me to correct that.....you may receive a prize from FOX!!!

The Republican Party has become the "Hate America" party. The American President is unsuccessful at attracting the Olympics to the US and the RNC cheers. The American president wins the Nobel peace prize and the RNC attacks the president and the prize. Pathetic and disappointing…

Rollins is and always was a wolf in sheeps clothing. He's still a hack and stays in the pay of that now defunct quasi religious Republican political party. Anything with respect to Obama succeeding at all will curdle anything these cheap purveyors of garbage may have their bladders. Rollins comes across as being condescending but in reality all he says is an insult to anyone with intelligence. This is because if you bother to listen at all you will find out that he contradicts himself all the time. You don't have to believe this just listen to the man. He's pathetic.
    Sincerely GW Rhodes

Rollins comment is very unpatriotic, and this is the party of patriotism?? The GOP is jealous of President Obama. If Obama had not woin, they still would be jealous of him. To say that the Nobel committee has cheapen itself is a insult on all those who have won this prestigous award. This America is still undergoing a transformation of ideas and concepts, and there are still those who refuse to change or respect this President. Shame on you Rollings for your comment. You have done a dis-service to your party and to this country of the United States.

    Congratulations President Obama!

To Bad, nobody cares what rollins and all the other hateful republicians have to say. who are they to judge as to who will get this reward and when. President Obama has done more for this country than any president in the last 10 years. All the republicians can do is critize, they are so jealous of this man until its shamful, he is the President Of the United States after all and all of their hate only makes the american people only love him more. Hail to the Chief!!!!!

Ed Rollins "cheapens" both the GOP and CNN by claiming that, by awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to President Obama, the Nobel committee has "cheapened" the award itself. Has Rollins and the rest of the GOP become so partisan and bitter that they can only celebrate the victories of Americans if those Americans happen to be Republicans?

Republicans- Please keep in mind that Obama did not award this to himself. This was an honor bestowed on him by a highly respected committee. I understand the argument that it seems premature, but this is an award and an honor. The american people elected this man as our president and we should all be complimented by this prize. I see many comments that are questioning why Obama has received this honor. To me, my first thought was an image of election night when the streets were filled with people singing together, giving eachother high-5's, cheering and crying with joy. Similar images came not just from U.S. cities, but from cities all around the world. Part of the reason I voted for him and volunteered to help him get elected was because of his ability to fix our tarnished reputation around the world. I also supported him because I believe he has the right mindset to make decisions based on what needs to be done. I do not believe this prize will affect his decision on Afghanistan or any other big decisions. He will do what he thinks is right.

    Congratulations, Mr. President!

Very much agree, they have made a laughing stock out of the nobel prize. This is seriously a joke, we should also give him a grammy as well while we are at it. That way he has a complete set.

But seriously, Obama has not accomplished anything other then undermining the strength of the US and pissing off both Russia and Israel. Any progress that has been made in diplomatic relations with other countries in recent times have been made by other people not him. He just seems to credit for the situation.

This is one of those very rare times when I find myself agreeing with someone on the other side of the political fence - that being said, regardless of political standings, from a simple observation point it just seems too soon for President Obama to receive an award of such caliber and magnitude.

As Rollins says, perhaps in four years we'd see more from the President to merit the bestowement of such an honor, but right now, he's still new and establishing himself.

My suggestion to the President: accept the award with dignity and grace and then move forward - proving to everyone (both supporters and advesaries alike) why exactly you deserved to win it.

Actually Mr. Rollins, he has accomplished a major defeat for the greatest oc threats to US and global peace and prosperity - the Republican party.

I couldn't believe it when I heard the news this morning about obama! I am just plain shocked and sickened that he won this award! What has he done so far to bring world peace and the real question is what he will do in the future to bring world peace and I can tell you absoutely nothing! Why since he has taken office, there is not even world peace in our own country because of him. He has caused turmoil, friction and all sorts of things since he has become president.
I think the world needs to wake up about obama. The United States is getting to be a scary place because of everybody worshipping this man and that scares me more than anything else right now. I hope he enjoys his moment!

Perhaps Mr. Rollins should listen again to the words of the Nobel judges – they unanimously agree that President Obama has done something – something that hasn't been done in years – he's given the world hope of a better future. That alone is worth the prize. Shame on Mr. Rollins for not recognizing that fact.

Mr. Rollins, With all due respect your are a complete nincompoop, and anti-American to boot. The Nobel Peace Prize Committee has their own way of deciding, and neither you, nor anyone else need to tell them what they "should" do so that you will personally be happy.

Also, do you read the news? The Nobel PPC stated that the award was based on Obama's call for peaceful diplomatic relationships and the call to create a nuclear free world.

Apparently, you and the nitwits who are sadly the Republican party, are bitter, twisted, nasty, out of touch, cynical and old white men whose day has past.

Since President Obama's election, world opinion of the United States has risen by double-digits. Under Bush, it was at an all-time low.

This IS an accomplishment, since the arrogant recklessness of the Bush administration made us LESS SAFE around the world. Indeed, the US needs its allies to help fight terrorism, and good relations around the globe also helps the American economy.

Our allies are now breathing a sigh of relief, as we can finally move forward to repair the damage of the previous administration and be a positive example for the rest of the world.

    Congratulations, Mr. President.

Ed Rollins you must be crazy ?

Why has anybody with any kind of "Republican" tag Speak on issues (all concerning Obama) before thinking?

Ed , did you read the citation? Are you more knowledgeable than the five judges?

    Enough of this craziness!!

In many eyes the President has accomplish many obstacles, such as being the first Black President, able to put in place communication between other countries, proven efforts in working for the American people and many more. One fact also, this award was also given on his EFFORTS. We all expect people like, Rollins to say something negative when a person like the President receives positive things, such I this. We are accustomed to this and that is why we are unique.

Perhaps so Mr. Rollins. But he gives hope and is working tirelessly to make changes to benefit all the people not him self or his rich friends. All the GOP has is nay saying. Its very tiring and worn out. When are you /they going to put some constructive ideas on the line to help all people. Put it on the line and let everyone judge your ideas!

I'm really getting tired of this nutcases waving the stars and strips but then celebrating US defeats. Who needs enemies when you have Republicans.

Lost the Olympic bid, they cheer.
Save the Auto industry, they boo.
More and more people go without medical care, they cheer
The US President gets the Peace prize, they boo.
