The rest of the world obviously understands that Obama is about- trying to change the discourse and intent.

Also working with others instead of threatening to make war if they do not agree.

The difference is obvious to most, except people like Rollins..

Re Obama winning Peace Prisze. First, Obama never asked for this award. I bet he is the most surprised. Second, except for american journalists, pundits, and right wing americans who have never understood and still don't understand the essence of Obama, people around the world and the Nobel Committee fully understand the impact Obama has made towords world peace. and the hope and inspiration he has given to world. There is no world leader today that brings this hope at a time when the world is in such a perilous state.

As a person living outside the U.S. I am appalled most of the time when I watch the shallow superficial converage of Obama by the American media – especially CNN.

Neil Postman wrote the definitive book on American Journalism – its called "Amusing Ourselves to Death." While Obama speaks to the highest level in people Journalists and media producers speak to the lowest.. News as entertainment.

I rtealize that while America deserved Bush which led to the great economic colapse and a loosing war, ,the world did not. America does not deserve Obama, but the world does.

I say lets have Sarah Palin for President in 2012. America deserves her.

He's just jealous because he didn't get one. Sorry Rollins, there's no award for selfishness and greed.

Free at last, free at last...the times when generations past wished for 40 acres and a mule...
Well whoever in honor standing for this nation have received the glory and the victory on the whipped backs of Americans past.
It's a shame and pity that we still have people representing this nation with that "back in the day" attitude. Since Lady Liberty didn't get her a Peace Prize, why should he...or she... says the yessa bossa. Now I wish you who was sent to the WHITE HOUSE as a representative STOP embarrassing our nation with immoral envy, jealousy and true enough hatred! It enough from 400 years ago you should have gotten over this day! Now is the time for peace... let what you held on from 400 years go!

Sour grapes from jealous republicans. Pathetic. The Nobel commitee decides who has "earned it". It is their prize to give. You would think these wingnuts would be happy to see a sitting president get a Nobel Prize instead of seeing American flags burned in the street everyday.

And how many Republican presidents and ex-presidents have one of those Peace Prizes on their mantel? Criticize all you want... losers. Obama has a peace prize and you don't.

    Republicans = National War Party

Obama has earned the Nobel Peace Prize on the HOPE that he brings for a brighter day in the MIST of SO MUCH HATRED. It is a good day and it is also a sad day.

The Nobel Committee has made it clear that the prize was awarded to Obama for what they perceive as his inspiration to the world rather than his accomplishments as President. In this sense he has already "earned" the prize.

Despite what you may believe, or feel personally about the President, and whether he deserves the Noble Prize its not up to you. So let it go. He won the award and he doesnt have to justify it to anyone, obviously the committee felt he deserved it and their not going to take it back because you or anyone else feel otherwise. More important things we have to worry about!!

Geezarooney– I am SO sick of all the political whining & carrying on by BOTH parties. Give it a rest people. What the devil is wrong that we have no civility in this country anymore? What happened that we can't just get along as human beings? When did it come down to an "us" and "them" mentality or a "conservative" vs "liberal" mentality? Does one side honestly think the other side doesn't care about this country? It's time to grow up and quit acting like a bunch of whiney little idiots. Get along with each other for pete sake! And that's not just for the "politicians"– it goes for EVERYBODY. It's time to quit trying to tear each other apart. There is NO victory in dividing our country.

The Nobel Committee explained why they awarded him the Peace Prize:

for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."

He has certainly done that. He does that every day. I find it refreshing after the my-way-or-the-highway Bush administration. I guess the Norwegians did too. Actually, it's the reason I voted for the guy.

What do you expect he is a republican and he did not listened to the reason the award was offered to Obama? When I heard the news I said for what. After listening to what the committee said I said he deserve it.

really who cares what the republican klan think they have shown for the last 8 years that they do not care about this county – they sold the country to CHINA and INDIA for cheap labor and goods and now want to call one of the greatest president of the US all kinds of names they should simply reserve to themselves- ED needs to look in the mirror and ask himeself what the hell has he done or his great repubs for the country or the world. Let me answer for him -NOTHING BUT EXPERSS HATE FOR THEIR FELLOW AMERICANS THAT HAPPEN TO NOT LOOK OR THINK LIKE THEM.

The Nobel award commettee will look pretty stupid is Obama does not eventually do something to deserve the award. Let's all hope he does, that would be good for the world and America. So far it has been all talk and speeches with good intentions.

After the eight long and painful years of the Bush Administration I think the rest of the world is breathing a collective sigh of relief. This prize is a way of saying, thank you to America and thank you to President Obama for ushering in a new day, for bringing hope, for being rational, for saying the words that so many desperate people around the world have been waiting to hear... that America is no longer the international bully is once was, that America wants to once again be a shining light, leading by example, not by force, embracing humility instead of arrogance, working with our allies, instead of mocking them. What`s amazing is how far off track we had gotten.

Rollins: Obama needs to earn it....

Ed, I think that could and should be said about all of us, no matter the prize.

Rollins needs to learn to read!

President Obama was chosen for and now awarded the Nobel Prize for 'inspiring "hope" at the start of his term' - it is for the hope that he has inspired in the world community, not for any specific doings..

Rollins has now been caught flat-footed because of his recent commentary on Obama. Rollins has castigated Obama with regard to the Saturday Night Live parody of him and the indication according to Rollins that as SNL goes, so goes political objectives, witness the Tina Fey assessment of Sarah Palin. Rollins misunderstood parody altogether in that commentary but now he has little of a retort regarding Obama's acquiring the Nobel Peace Prize. Rollins says that Obama must now earn that accolade as if the recommending committee was errant in its selection and Rollins know all about selecting Nobel prize winners. That said, even if George W. Bush is the comparison or contrast to Obama's winning the award as some pundits seem to indicate, that alone says a lot. Ed Rollins simply was caught flat-footed unless Obama has a link directly to the Nobel prize selecting committee on a moments notice. Being the first black US president as other GOP conservatives note is not in itself a qualifier toward recommendation as anyone would note but following on the heels of George W. Bush and his world views may be a consideration! But Obama's acknowledgement must be seen in the full view of in part a recoil to George W. Bush's presidency by the world community. That is curious in itself!

He earned it by recognizing the mistake of going to Iraq that has killed so many people with no clear goal and committed to stop the bleeding. Is that not enough?

Sorry Ed, but you don't determine who deserves the Nobel prize.

I know who DOESN't deserve the nobel peace prize: republicans.

    Don't hate. Appreciate. Emulate.
