Romney: Party man in Nebraska tonight

The former Massachusetts governor will be the keynote speaker Friday night at the Nebraska Republican Party's biennial Founders' Day event.

(CNN) - Mitt Romney is lending a helping hand to Nebraska Republicans, the latest in a string of political favors as the 2008 presidential candidate surveys the 2012 landscape.

The former Massachusetts governor will be the keynote speaker Friday night at the Nebraska Republican Party's biennial Founders' Day event in Omaha.

Romney may make another run at the GOP presidential nomination next cycle, but an adviser says right now the former Massachusetts governor's concentrating on helping fellow Republicans in the next election.

"Gov. Romney is traveling the country, speaking to Republican organizations, raising money for candidates, and doing what he can to strengthen our party going into the 2010 elections," says Romney adviser Eric Fehrnstrom.

Romney has been a vocal critic of President Barack Obama, particularly his handling of foreign relations. At the recent Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference on Mackinac Island, Michigan, Romney said that the president is "above" the world stage and acting too much as a "neutral arbiter."

Last month, Romney also criticized Obama on national security matters at the Value Voters Summit, an annual gathering of social conservatives held in the nation's capitol.

Founders' Day is a significant fundraiser for the Nebraska GOP, and is held in appreciation of party activists and volunteers for their hard work to help candidates and the party.

All of the state's top elected Republican officials will also be at the dinner, including Gov. Dave Heineman, who is up for re-election next year. Party officials say the event is sold out, and will produce a record turnout.

party is right, Mitt does not want to work, just party around! Mitt is showing he is a career jet-setter who wants to be a politician, no job, just travelin' around, making sure his political run is the longest in history, never stopped in four years, by the time he is done it will be eight years of a Romney campaign, Romney is one desperate man.

Stay out of my great State of Nebraska. This guy is a schmuck. Buys companies, lays off workers, sells company for profit and moves on. He doesn't care about the American worker or family.

The Democratic administration and congress driving national unemployment up to essentially double what it was when they took over is better than any campaign Republican money could buy. Eventually, Americans demand results and Mitt has a proven record of delivering results.

vicious rumour that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990. I don't claim to know the truth - only that the rumor floating around saying that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990 should be discussed. So I want to do my part to try and help get to the bottom of this. Why won't Glenn Beck deny these allegations? I wouldn't accuse Glenn Beck of raping and murdering a young girl in 1990 – in fact, I think he didn't! But I can't help but wonder, since he has failed to deny these horrible allegations. Why won't he deny that he raped and killed a young girl in 1990?

Poor MITT! Republicans have shown America today what they are made of......... hate and jealousy!

Instead of being gracious "leaders" they have proven to America, that they are small minded.

Our president, President Obama, won an honorable award. And the Republicans have taken to the airwaves, radio, blogs to demonize, criticize and spew ..... hate....... for a GOOD MAN.

I have never seen the libs get so worked up over one guy. They know Mitt is their biggest threat and that Obama's inexperience and lack of knowledge on the issues will be glaring in comparison to Romney and all of his qualifications and smarts. I can't wait to see them debate and see Obama and his "words" against Mitt and his experience! Mitt Romney for President in 2012!

I don't know about you, but I don't want someone that believes malarky that that running out country.

Come on Lacrosse Mom you have got to be kidding me that the Republicans are the "party of hate." During the Bush administration I saw and heard such vitriol and hate spewing from the Dems as has never been seen or heard before. Bush's character was smeared by the Dems while at least the Reps are upset with Obama's policy not the person himself. Boy, if you aren't the pot calling the kettle black!

Why is it that republicans can't do anything with out getting elected?

Why is it that they need to be in power to do anything?

I always thought that great people showed leadership no matter what title they held.

They seem to be consumed by the 2010 and 2012 elections that they can't do anything else.

Mitt Romney once said about Obama that the Presidency is not an on-the-job training position. I guess traveling the country campaigning to get party people elected is more of the job preparing experience we should be looking for. Better yet, quit you day job as governor and go on paid speaking engagements to criticize the President.

That the kind of leadership this country needs. All talk and no work.

As a Republican, I'd consider any Romney campaign run scary UNLESS it was a choice between him and our party's other leaders, Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck. At least Romney isn't as filled with hate and anger.

I am an independent, who voted Democratic last election. Like most
of the past elections, it was a case of voting for the party who would possibly do the least damage. But if Mitt Romney is the candidate nominated in the next election, I will be definitely voting Republican.
