A screengrab of Barack Obama's Twitter account (run by Organizing for America, President Obama's political arm which is now operated out of the Democratic National Committee), echoes the word that, according to Twitter, most Americans have on their mind: humbled. The other two words that quickly rose on Twitter's Trending Topic list, which reflects what is drawing the most discussion on Twitter right now are "Nobel" and "President Obama."

What a joke this award has become. First they give it to Arafat for following in Hitler's foot steps and killing jewish women and children. Then they give it to Jimmy Carter for encouraging the Soviets to invade Afghanistan and slauhter tens of thousands. Then they give it to Al Gore for advocating the dismantling of the U.S. economy so that the mating habits of the rats and chipmunks won't be disrupted. And now they give it to Obama for accomplishing what? ABOSOLUTELY NOTHING. WHAT.......A........JOKE!!

Does anyone realize the past recipients of this award? As a foreigner I would have to say Obama is probably one of the most deserving recipients of it. Why is everyone making America out to look like losers? First you lose your Olympic bid, now American's are upset because Obama wins something he doesn't deserve? Sounds like a country full of losers to me.

This just proves that the award is nothing more than a political statement. I have lost faith in the Nobel prize. This just discredits everyone before him that had won it for being legit.

The HATERS are complaining about President Obama won the Nobel within the first 11 days of his Presidency!!! Okay, TRUE – but the judges had 9 months to CHANGE THEIR MINDS!!! They DID NOT!!!

No one should blame President Obama for being offered the Nobel Peace Prize – If you want to be CRITICAL – judge him if he does not HOLD IT UP!!!! Jeez! PLEZZZZZZZZZ so called USA!!!

    From Barbados, West Indies
I believe that this is an indictment on all our world leaders, political and religious. That so many of them have been on the world scene for so long and have done nothing to achieve peace, end poverty and tackle poverty. Free thinking ppl from across the world are standing up to say enough. All across the world from Washington, to Japan to the Nobel Committee people are saying "Time for a change" "Yes we can"

It amazes me to read this stuff from the Obama haters and right wing disciples who give no thought of their own to what YOUR President has done and is doing. Nothing but negative, negative, negative.
To those of you who think Obama is ruining your country – all I can say – as an outside observer- it is YOU who are ruining your country. Internally and trying to externally. Thank God your efforts have not worked externally as much as internally.
You go on and on about unemployment rates, loss of jobs, economic crises like he was the one who precipitated these events – MORONS – it took years and years to get where you were. Anyone with half a brain knows it. And the US is not the only country suffering from bad policies, greed etc.
At least this man is trying to do something about it. He has been President for less than a year!!! Do none of you realize that it takes TIME to resolve problems!!!

Grow up. Perhaps you do not respect your President – but there are a hell of a lot of people outside your country who do.

    And thank God for that.

I've know for several years that the nobel peace prize was extremely political and that the organization that hands it out consists of a group of left-wing America-hating elitists who select their recipients based entirely on their potential usefulness as a tool for denegrating America's image and weakening its influence and superpower status. (How else do you explain the selection of Jimmy Carter and Al Gore?) But EVEN I was shocked when I heard they had selected Obama. I really thought they would wait for a few years until he had accomplished SOMETHING that they could use as an excuse. But I guess Obama's potential usefulness as a destroyer of American influence and greatness was simply too much for them to resist. No one with an I.Q. that surpasses room temperature will ever HONESTLY be able to take this award seriously ever again.

Everyone needed a savior, when the economy tumbled. Bush and the republicans left this administration in the worst shape since the depression. World opinion of the United States was at an all time low. President Obama brought back US and World confidence in working together for a better world today. He is very effective in making the decisions that brought us to this point of reassurance of our economy and world conditions.

I guess we all can get 1.4 million dollars from the Nobel Prize for saying Spread Hope, Yes We Can, Apoligize for the Evil America, and bow then kiss the Saudi Kings ring. I would do that for 1.4 million dollars. Dems tell me what deeds he has done to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. Maybe in a few years we will see real results from the President other than bankrupting the American taxpayer.

I am neither Republican or Democrat – I would hope that in the future he is the recipient of the Peace Award again – and that he has provided us with results, I would be very pleased to congratulate him. The negative comments from both republican and democrats show only bias. How sad are some of the comments.

Humbled? I think confused would be more appropriate. Even President Obama, I believe, would have a hard time figuring out what he has done to win a prize for peace. Albeit one that has no credibility.

Humbled? You mean confused. What a bizarre award Nobel has become.

Let's see...nominations closed February 1st....giving Obama just 11 days in office.

It nice to see that we have disencumbered ourselves from the awkward obligation of accomplishment and have risen to the lofty standards of wishful thinking.

If the Nobel Peace prize stands for "pathetic failure" or "incompetent fool", then BO deserves the award with my blessings. Unfortunately, this is real life and the award has been reduced to a partisan mantlepiece fit for a community organizer. He now joins a list of other famous communists that have received the award including, but not limited to Mandela and Gorbichev. Embarrassing as it is to have him as the leader of the free world, it is nothing compared to the damage he has inflicted upon this nation in such a short period of time.

  19. Victim of Liberal stupidity

He has destroyed any hope of our Nation ever coming out from under the debt that he and this Congress of idiots has driven us. He has weakened the dollar, he has created Nationalized auto industries, he has created Nationalized Insurance companies, he has created a Nationalized Banking Industry and is pushing hard to
Nationalize or Socialize the healthcare Industry. He has destroyed our Great Nation, why do you think that the Socialist European Nations applaud him, they want a weak and broken America.

My vote is get rid of the Fed and put governmental control back to the State level where our Constitution meant for it to be.

The DNC spreads lies and our tax dollars to keep it's elitist lawyer politicians in power.

    Which do we need more?

The new four letter F word for republicans, F A K E. Your reality all these years was built on a FAKE foundation. Your issues are FAKE, your concerns are FAKE. No one will ever believe another thing a republican has to say, especially when the guy who coined the phrase "you lie" was lying himself.

I realize you all want to cause as much harm as you can considering you are TOAST, but we will not let you harm our nation any more. I suggest you all shut up already about the negatives comments about YOUR OWN NATION, because you will reap what you sow, fake grassroots.

It is interesting to read all the things the right says Obama has not fixed since he is President were ALL caused by a republican president.

Amen! What a wonderful and insightful defense of Obama's win.
    Thank you.

The world had lost all respect for the US during the Bush administration.
Canadians and people all over the world rejoiced when such an intelligent, insightful and good man was elected President.
His diplomacy and respect for other nations has given us all hope for a more peaceful world. We believe he deserves the award even if some of you do not.

    Americans should be proud.

  24. Good Riddance!

The Republican's are a polarizing, most hateful, intolerant political party. I haven't heard anything positive coming out of their mouths for at least 10 years. Most people of color look at them with scorn, they are turning droves of women away, young people think they're uncool, and their followers appear dumber and dumber. They will soon be extinct.
You would think that even though they are on the slow side, they would realize that it is great for America that countries around the world are finally gaining respect and admiration for America again and it's all due to President Barack Hussain Obama! Congratulations and God Bless you and your beautiful family Mr. President!

    P.S. Happy Birthday Bo
