WASHINGTON (CNN) - Former Vice President Al Gore is coming to Virginia on Friday to raise money for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds, a campaign aide confirmed.

Gore will headline a fundraiser at a private home in McLean. At this point, however, Gore is not scheduled to make a public appearance with the Democratic hopeful.

The event comes one week after Deeds got fundraising help from the current vice president, Joe Biden.

President Obama has also campaigned and raised money for Deeds, but the White House is being cagey on whether the president will return to the commonwealth in the final three weeks before Election Day on November 3. But the Democratic National Committee launched a flurry of robocalls into Virginia on Tuesday asking Obama campaign supporters to help elect Deeds.

Deeds trails Republican Bob McDonnell in recent polls. Former GOP presidential nominee John McCain will hold a rally for McDonnell in Hampton Roads on Saturday.

Are Virginians reall ythat short on memory or good sense? they are really even contemplating electing a republicon who espouses the same tired nonsense as reagan, bush, cheney, delay, and pat robertson? Really?

Unfortunately, while having great respect for Al, he's hardly a spell binding speaker either. Besides "Global Warming Al", outside of Democratic strongholds, will do nothing to draw the Independents that Deeds has to have to win.

Poor Deeds, most people think GORE is attention hungry idiot.

This will hurt more than it helps.

Al "the bore" Gore needs to go back to the woods in TENN and retire.

We've had enough of his GW hype.

Will Gore answer questions regarding the 9 MAJOR mistakes to his movie and inconvenient truth or will they turn off peoples microphones and throw them out if they dare ask Gore to explain his 9 Major mistakes? Moral of the story – Gore is a hypocrite politician, not an expert on global warming.

After Biden visited Virginia to help Deeds, his poll numbers plunged. Hopefully Gore will have the same effect. Al just needs to remind them he was also an undeserved winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.

I can only hope and pray that Gore does show up. That will seal the fate of the Democrat into obscurity. The Obama/Democrat hangover is done and America is waking up to the realitys of the Democrat/Socialist party.

Excuse me, but that is the scariest picture of Gore I've ever seen. Please do not use that photo when you try to help out Deeds in Va. Good Lord, he reminds me of the scary guy in "GhostbustersII".

Aside from that, good luck Al. I'd love to have Va. Blue.

Hypocrite Gore flying around on his private jet? We should drive a Prius so he can pollute more with his jet and have a house that wasted more energy than anyone else. We want Gore to be accountable and answer to his flawed fiction movie, an inconvenient truth, which we now know is filled with LIES.

Mmm, sounds like a close race as both parties are sending all sorts of big names. I guess we can expect a lot of this through next year.
Most Americans will have tuned them all out well before then.

How about a Constitutional amendment to restrict campaigning to the two months immediately before the election date?

Creigh Deeds will be the first victim of the political sunami that has been forming in Virginia. I am sure he is a nice guy in many ways, so I wish him all the best in his next endeavor. Hang in there Mr. Deeds.

Do you know that I have to go to jail because I cannot afford to buy Obamacare plan? I cannot afford to pay higher premium plus I have to pay higher taxes in order for the uninsured to be insured. Higher premium and higher taxes then I do not have money to buy health insurance that I need for myself plus I do not have money to pay penalty either. So, I will end up have no health insurance and in jail. Oh Lord Help me! Obama killing all of us.

Deed is a overly negative campaigner with no solid plans except increasing taxes. McDonnell is the opposite and is why I'm voting for him.
