NRCC removes tweet comparing Pelosi to Hitler

WASHINGTON (CNN) - The National Republican Congressional Committee has removed a tweet Tuesday that linked to a video comparing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with Adolf Hitler.

The tweet, sent out Tuesday morning on their official Twitter account, read: "Funny Video: Moonbattery: Hitler Reacts to ObamaCare Maneuvers http://bit.ly/2mOvZ7 #Pelosi". It comes the same day the NRCC released a petition on their site to "Fire Nancy Pelosi."

The tweet immediately drew strong criticism from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "House Republicans have gone way too far. The NRCC's despicable promotion of a video comparing Speaker Pelosi's effort to reform health insurance in America to Adolf Hitler's extermination of millions is a shocking new low that must be condemned," said DCCC spokeswoman Jennifer Crider. "Republican Leader John Boehner should order NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions to immediately remove this vile Tweet and apologize."

NRCC spokesman John Randall said Tuesday the group had made a mistake. "We obviously made an error in linking to this video and it has been taken down," said Randall.

This tweet comes on the heels of a controversial NRCC statement last week that called on Gen. Stanley McChrystal to "put [Pelosi] in her place" on the topic of Afghanistan.

    Nancy Pelosi is Hitler?

How many millions of Jews, Gypsies and other people did Pelosi kill?

How many lives did the war Pelosi started cause?

In fact, the GOP is the party of Hitler: Tell a big lie, repeat it often, and many people will believe it.

The NRCC is thoroughly insulting. Time and time again. Recently wanting to put the first woman Speaker "IN HER PLACE" and now this.

The NRCC should apologize publicly IMMEDIATELY. Disgusting.

America, we can do better than this "funny video." The Republican Party is truly the worst of America.

How sick can one party get? I guess when you can't offer anything to help the middle and indigent people of this country, you'll resort to anything! These creeps suck!

Pelosi is not organzied enough to be Hitler. Please. Now Dick Cheney? Rush? Coulter? Hitler would join in for four part harmony if he could. Wait. Rush is too fat to goose step. Sorry.

what is this obsession that the Republicans have with Adolph Hitler? First it was Obama now Pelosi. It's pretty scary if you ask me.

Pelosi is extreme. Pelosi is a liar. Pelosi is mean at times. Her policies are wrong, her personality grading. She needs to be voted out of office so we can have a more reasonable moderate person lead the House...

But she's not evil and she's not as awful as Hitler. Both sides need to stop using these unfair comparisons to Hitler. Focus on the issues in debate not the personal attacks.

This is hetting rediculous. The Republicans have gone to lows that I could have never imagined. Losing hurts, but losing yourself in the process is the real shame.

This is disgusting. It's one thing to see this from the fringe lunatics at town hall meetings, but from the NRCC? There has to be repercussions for this, it's unacceptable.

A Buck Private fresh out of Paris Island know more about how to win a war than Pelosi, Reid and Obama together do! Politicians may have the cahrisma of Hitler but even th worst are not near as evil as Hitler ever was. But I do remember a certain party and its followers who had no problem equating President Bush to Hitler on signs and speeches! Hypocrits!

Wow, the Dems sure are hypocrites.

It's okay for Pelosi to intimate that conservatives are Nazis. It's okay for various other elected Democrats to call conservatives thugs, a mob, insult us by referring to us with a term describing a sexual activity... but when on-elected Republicans call a Democrat something that you libs routinely called Bush, you have a hissy fit.

Yeah, the usual bully tactics of the GOP. When are you schoolyard loudmouths going to grow up and try to be helpful? That is simply pathetic on all fronts. And you wonder why your "brand" needs updating. Imagine if someone had painted a little black moustache on GWB – oh, the outrage would've shaken the airwaves for weeks. But it is ok for you to do it. You are always right, right? And I mean right side of the aisle, not "correct".

Do they really think that suppressing the 'freedom of speech' will may Pelosi a better person in the eyes of the American taxpayer? Of course it won't, but then again, these people only want to look good. If she wants to stop this type of comparison she should listen to the criticism and change her ways! Oh, I forgot, they are politicians. All mouth and no ears, no brains, no common sense!

Just to repeat myself and others. The republicans are a party of fear/hate/obstructionism.

People do not let this party ever get back into power. Never.

I do not understand the conservative Republican fascination with calling people Hitler it seems to be ingrained in their brain most call the Democratic president and congressional leaders socialist you can't be a socialist and a fascist together as a woman can't be a little bit pregnant. Then a 73-year-old veteran of Korea and Vietnam I just can't understand all these warmongers who never were in uniform and probably never will be wanted to fight every one as long as they never have to go what do you expect from redneck crackers

Even tough neither Hitler or Socialism are in any way historically connected to US politics today, West Virginians and the Tea Party believers buy into it. Rush, Sean... you must be SO proud.

Unfortunately, when you build an atmosphere of hate and anger you may find things get out of hand. This nastiness within our political system has to stop. May we all remember "do unto others...."

Best part? This is another battle with irony that the GOP has lost: if anything is actually analogous to Hitler's wanton destruction of life in pursuit of a sadistic goal, it's the insurance industry's reckless, selfishly randian, greed-inspired scrabbling for increasing profits at the expense of the very public it is supposed to serve...MONEY OVER LIFE...and the GOP's goering-esque sideshow in support of it.
