President Obama is going coast to coast to help raise money for fellow Democrats.

(CNN)– President Obama is going coast to coast to help raise money for fellow Democrats.

The president will be the main attraction Thursday night in San Francisco at a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee. The dinner and reception at the Westin St. Francis hotel is expected to bring in around $3 million, according to a Democratic source.

Next week Obama heads north for another DNC fundraiser, scheduled to headline a top-dollar dinner at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City on Tuesday, October 20, according to different Democratic source.

When it comes to campaign cash, the DNC trails its Republican counterpart. As of the beginning of September, the DNC reported $15 million cash on hand, with debt of more than $5 million. The Republican National Committee reported $21 million in the bank, as of September 1, with no debt. The DNC and RNC could release their September fundraising figures as early as Thursday.

The president is also the main attraction at a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee-Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee joint fundraiser in Miami on October 26.

So glad we are all being asked to cut back and sacrifice our energy use. What about you Mr. President? Didn't I read it costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to take you and your security people on Air Force One? Oh I see, it's do as I say not as I do. Thanks alot, BO.

RCasson   October 14th, 2009 3:02 pm ET

Get that money Mr. President!!! LOL.

Gale   October 14th, 2009 3:02 pm ET

Dems, look out in 2010. It didn't take long for people to see what the "Change" was really about.

T   October 14th, 2009 2:57 pm ET

What? Going around trying to raise money of those of us that are out of work due to the circus in DC? How about get back there and do your job that all the uneducated voted you into office to do? I may not have a Masters or Doctorate in any field, but I sure know that taking more money (from taxpayers) to pay for programs (which will end up supporting illegals anyhow) that are broken from the word go is NOT good for the American people! You have no right to be pissing away more money on bad ideas and blowing hot air to try and cover up your incompetence!

Read away, Barack-o, read away......

J.P.   October 14th, 2009 2:43 pm ET

Don't bother... stay at home and save MY tax money you'll spend flying in MY Air Force One.

The entire Socialist party is going to be permanently mothballed in 2010. If you think 1994 was a doozy, you have no idea the tsunami that's getting ready to descend on the snake pit of DC, and wash all the snakes out to sea. It's going to make 1994 look like the shift change at the Quicky Mart.

Barry In Las Vegas   October 14th, 2009 2:39 pm ET

He can keep spending our tax dollars campaining but the bottom line is the Democrats are going to lose a lot of seats in the House and a few Senate seats as well – starting with my home town senartor – Harry Reid.

S.B. Stein E.B. NJ   October 14th, 2009 2:35 pm ET

Will the president actually being doing some campaigning for his health care reform, cap-and-trade, or other major legislative agenda items? I hope so. I dislike it when the president (any of them) rally the troops of his own party. I don't mind them raising money for their party; it just shouldn't be done on my dime.

Susan   October 14th, 2009 2:33 pm ET

very disappointing.........still campaigning........he needs to become mature now.

Idiot_Pelosi   October 14th, 2009 2:29 pm ET

The CROOK needs to raise more cash?

What bribes are you passing out now?

Delores smith   October 14th, 2009 2:29 pm ET

My family and i love and respect the president he is doing a great job we support and stand by you mr.president.

FED UP   October 14th, 2009 2:26 pm ET

Why waste time raising money? Just print some more. he has already pumped an extra 12% of our GDP in cash into our laps this year. Of course the Dow will hit 10,000. Then inflation will kick in and it will hit 7,000 again. This recession is far from over. This is just a honeymoon.

Independant Vet   October 14th, 2009 2:23 pm ET

Why should the Taxpayers have to pay this do nothing , done nothing correct . Fly apound drumming up cash ?

Just one time , some one trip him up . Uh , and tell him , YOU BARRACK , Are letting military begging, out of work people , begging . You have flood Victims , that have never heard from you . Peolple Homes are begging . and you are on the prowl , like a casterated bull dog , whinning about the dnc , needs your help.

YOUR BIG CHANGE IS COMING , GO BACK TO YOUR SOUTH SIDE . And play with you dolls. By now they probabley don't want you either.

SHAME ON YOU , Barrack Hussien .

Typical Republican   October 14th, 2009 2:22 pm ET

The Dow has hit 10000. This is all Obama's fault.

I miss the days of a declining dow market, watching the country go to hell and my life savings dwindle! Obama has made our stocks go up. See, his stimulus didn't work! It's ruining the economy so bad that the stock market is back up to 10000. We all know this is a bad thing!

Enough   October 14th, 2009 2:20 pm ET

Doing the only thing he knows.........campaigning. Easier than being president and running the country, too bad people didn't have the intelligence to see this man for what he really is, before they cast their hopeful ballot. How much is this trip costing us, since price is no object for this president? Obama needs to go back to school and take some business classes, maybe he will learn when the check book is empty, you quit writing checks.

db   October 14th, 2009 2:20 pm ET

Out there earning that Peace Prize.

Jack   October 14th, 2009 2:18 pm ET

How much is this trip costing the tax payer? I would hope that the Democratic Party is paying for this trip, in full to include Secret Service, airplane fuel and personnel costs, food, fuel, etc. I don't want my tax money paying for the President who should be working going out and raising money for any political party. Call him and tell him to make sure not one penny of tax payers' money is used! Yeah, right Obama the flim flam man....

Isn't there something else he should be doing?

IndyVoter   October 14th, 2009 2:15 pm ET

Good for him.....and please don't start with that..."he needs to be doing his job and working on the economy" crap. He has been doing his job, and doing it WELL and his critics have fought him at every turn. So, do your thing Mr. President and help those who have supported you and supported the policies that are going to help average Americans...We support you!

Wanted: President of the US   October 14th, 2009 2:14 pm ET

Geez, will you get off the campaign trail and do something to earn the public's adoration!!

Barbara - Atlanta   October 14th, 2009 2:12 pm ET

Mr. President, we would love for you to come to Atlanta. :)

Amazing   October 14th, 2009 2:11 pm ET

Shouldn't he be in the White house making those hard decisions on Afghanistan? What about unemployment and the economy? His failed stimulus did nothing to keep unemployment below 8%, like he promised. This empty suit knows nothing about business. How could he, hasn't had a real job.

Jeremy   October 14th, 2009 2:11 pm ET

This sounds about right, our country is bankrupt, our president put 787 billion dollars on our U.S. credit card which we will never pay off, and will ruin our children's lives, our troops are being killed everyday in afganistan because Obama sent them there, More people are losing thier homes now than when the bubble burst, over 30 million people unemployed, we are on the verge of passing a health bill that has already failed in Massachusetts and Tennessee which will take half a trillion dollars away from all of our grandparents and be given to able bodied childless adults who choose not to work or buy health insurance so they can have free health care (because they contribute so much to our society), and our president is spending millions of taxpayer dollars to fly around the country to shmooze and laugh it up with shady democratic campaign doners. Thanks Obama, what a mistake you have turned out to be.

Think before you speak   October 14th, 2009 2:11 pm ET

Why doesn't he take that cash and put it toward health care or the deficit or something? We've seen that it matters not which of these lame parties is in charge in Washington, they can't do anything right.

Why prefer one candidate over another? Why campaign to send a different brand of clown to DC? They're all incompetent schmucks and nothing ever gets done. How much money has been wasted in each of these efforts health care ads and lobbying, campaigns?

Vic of New York   October 14th, 2009 2:07 pm ET

I donated. You should too. This is the best deal America has had in a generation and it's not going to get any better.

The Right-Wing nuts and GOP xenophobes are nervous for a reason. They see America is changing for the better – without them – and they hate that. I say too bad. They're sending up all the Red-Herring arguments to try to derail the rest of the country. They are funded by big-business and the greedy executives and banks that want to keep things the way they were.

If want Change, don't blow it now. Go all-in with both feet because it may be a long time before the wheel comes round again.

jayjohn   October 14th, 2009 2:06 pm ET

I hope the DNC is paying for the cost of this fund raising trip of
Obama's.

Obama its time to move on   October 14th, 2009 2:05 pm ET

Obama does not understand a simple factor, that he is the President and time to govern...campaign-time is over and work what he says a full plate to handle....remember promises to keep...two wars..economy in shambles, etc, etc,,,,Time for Country first, people next and party finances the very last worry...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you President Obama   October 14th, 2009 2:04 pm ET

Very glad the president is doing this –

GOPs have shown they can't be compromised with and are immune to reason– we have to crush them in the 2010 election, again. This is statistically hard to do in a mid-term but we need to let the Dems know that despite their strategic incompetence they are basically on the side of what the american people want.

Dutch/Bad Newz, VA   October 14th, 2009 2:01 pm ET

DOW hits10,000 for first time since 10/08. I bet the republicans won't give the President any credit for bringing us back from the brink.

Shirley In California   October 14th, 2009 2:01 pm ET

Before you start – yes, he is fundraising because that's what HE wants to do. Live with it.

Linda C in Cal   October 14th, 2009 1:55 pm ET

Absurd! The "Campaigner-in-Chief" does not like to work! I guess he'd rather spend time traveling the world and raising money for his party.

He should be out raising money for all those poor Americans out of work!

john   October 14th, 2009 1:54 pm ET

Why not raise some csh for me and all the other hardworking people you are about screw over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous   October 14th, 2009 1:54 pm ET

This is the job that most politician excell at. It is their primary concern. Building the party warchest and controlling more power. He and all elected officials should spend their time working for the people and not figuring out how to suck enough oney out of us so as to stay in power.

Ron Paul!!!

Dar   October 14th, 2009 1:54 pm ET

Kind of funny that the Dems have debt and the Rebublicans are debt free. I guess the Dems are waitng for the stimulas money to help them out. But wait Odumbo is riding in on his horse ( Air Force One that we all pay for) to save the day! Dems sure do like debt dont they. So who do you want taking care of your money little kool aid sippers?
god Bless All

La'Shari Mann   October 14th, 2009 1:53 pm ET

I think its good that the president is able to help raise money for different funrasiers. That means people is surrport him and the choices he makes. My thing is can he rasie money like this to help people who need health care. Can he rasie money to get new schools. To be honest I think the question is not can but will he get money to surpport the things that this great country need.

Steph   October 14th, 2009 1:51 pm ET

To anyone who posts that the president should stay in Washington and get back to work, please chill out. Every president has done this. AND we do have technology that allows The President of the United States to continue working while he's traveling.

I'm glad we have a president who is out meeting with people and working towards the changes we elected him to make. I don't want someone who hides in the oval office (or spends tons of time at some secluded ranch).

penny   October 14th, 2009 1:50 pm ET

This is wrong on so many levels. The Commander-in-Chief is not to be devoting his time to fundraising. Ever since Obama was elected, he has been campaigning – this is not presidential or appropriate. Also, how can he possibly ask the American people for donations, when many are unemployed. This is another duty he is neglecting – helping create jobs in our country. Instead, he's apologizing for everyhing we stand for. Disturbingly ironic – on so many levels.

Ron   October 14th, 2009 1:50 pm ET

Here is a novel idea for the Preident. Stay in Washington and do the job we hired you to do. There are way too many important issues at hand for our country for you to still be out on the campaign trail.

Glen Beck is Rush Limbaugh's Evil Spawn   October 14th, 2009 1:48 pm ET

I'm going to beat all of the Republican'ts to the punch:

Why doesn't Obama, (or Obozo, or Nobami, or whatever the insulting name-of-the-day is), just stay in his office and solve all of our problems instead of campaining all the time! He's already been in office for 10 months and he hasn't fixed everything our beloved Bushie screwed up! Socialist! Facist! ACORN-lover!

Does that about sum it up?

?   October 14th, 2009 1:47 pm ET

Doesn't he have more important things to do?

Tim   October 14th, 2009 1:47 pm ET

Why are we, the taxpayers paying for the President (of any party) to fly cross country to raise money for his party. That is fraud, waste and abuse in every sense of the word. Air Force One, security and his entourage are EXPENSIVE!

Franky, Land of Lincoln   October 14th, 2009 1:45 pm ET

Good lord, that's a whole lot of dough for having a couple of fundraiseers. By the way, who donates this kind of money? I guess it must have to been people with money, to say the least.

Is no secret, my boy is money in the pocket for many elected Democrats who wanna have the materials necessary to win and ironically, some, not all of these people are the same people who ain't comaplining much, but talking much. And specifically, these are the same people who are buying our elected officials while they hope and just hope they can get something done and so far, nothing hasn't really been done.

I don't know but what about spreading that wealth instead to us, huh? :)

sifto77   October 14th, 2009 1:44 pm ET

If he needs cash–he could probably borrow from his "nemesis" Rush–he has lots of money.

File under "Sarcasm"   October 14th, 2009 1:44 pm ET

I guess other less important issues like Afghanistan, Iran, etc will have to wait while the Supreme Politician raises cash for his party. That's why we elected him, right; to ensure the re-election of all the other Democrat incumbents so they wouldn't lose their power, prestige and government healthcare package? Maybe if he raises enough money, they'll forget what he promised them he'd do when he campaigned last year.

Amazing   October 14th, 2009 1:44 pm ET

Campaigner in Chief at it again. Campaigning at Tax payers expense. CNN waiting for a report on how much travel expenses this administration has racked up for us little people to pay.

Mark   October 14th, 2009 1:41 pm ET

Obama needs to STOP campaigning and get some things accomplished. He's been such a disgrace, thus far.

John from LA   October 14th, 2009 1:41 pm ET

Can this man EVER stay in DC and tackle the problems our country faces-His only ace in the hole is to ALWAYS campaign!!!!-HEY BO!!!!-You won-get off the trail and start your job already!!!-Let your fellow Dems hit the road!
