Biden touts stimulus, raises campaign cash in Missouri

Biden is set to tout the stimulus package Wednesday.
Biden is set to tout the stimulus package Wednesday.

(CNN) – Joe Biden heads to Missouri Thursday to tout federal stimulus money and to help Robin Carnahan's senate campaign raise money.

The vice president teams up with Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon at the St. Louis County Police and Fire Training Center to to discuss how Recovery Act investments are creating jobs and aiding law enforcement in keeping our communities safe," according to a statement from the White House.

Following the stimulus event, Biden helps out another fellow Democrat, Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan, who's running for the senate. The vice president headlines a fundraiser for Carnahan at a private residence in St. Louis. Carnahan's campaign says they raked in over $1 million in the third quarter, slightly behind the amount of money raised by the likely Republican nominee in next year's race, former House Minority Whip Roy Blunt.

The senate battle, between two leading political families in Missouri, is for an open seat, as incumbent Republican Kit Bond is not running for re-election. A recent poll of Missouri voters suggested the race was quite close.

Thursday night Biden heads to Minnesota to help raise money for the Democratic National Committee. Friday the vice president Biden helps bring in campaign cash for another Democrat facing a tough election next year, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada.

I don't know what the bigger joke is; Biden, the stimulus package, or the dimwitted liberals who are still making cash contributions to this failing administration......

It wasn't stimulus it was pork and if touting that is his strategy then Biden is a joke. We are on our way to bankruptcy and the Democrats are working hard to make themselves look even more irresponsible than the Republicans were which is a pathetic feat.

Also...Charlie Rangel needs to resign. Since when has Nancy Pelosi decided that Democratic corruption is okay? I'm very disappointed in this government.

I don't understand how he can honestly stand up there and say that giving money to a police dept or fire dept (worthy causes) is creating jobs. It's almost as if he says it enough that it will be true. Does Biden not watch the news?? Does he not see that unemployment numbers are going up. Come on JOE the TRUTH HURTS!

    Your plan is a failure.

This guy is so out of touch with reality. Touting stimulus money.......ha, don't they know a pork filled stimulus bill does NOT stimulate the economy? Who do they think they are fooling, the stimulus was a failure. Unemployment is almost 10% nationwide, over 12% here in CA, they needed to stimulus passed ASAP to keep unemployment below 8%.........ha, what joke, they are so clueless. Now they are going to strangle hold small business with their plans and that will keep businesses from hiring, we will keep our business small, cannot afford employees under their plans. The country cannot be run like Unions, see what they did to GM. Look for more companies to leave the country. How can Obama know anything about business, he never worked for one?

I hope the good people of Arkansas send a Democrat to the Senate, and I hope Carnahan is not one of those Conservative types that will do nothing but gum up the works, like Republican Conservatives do.

This nation and this world is facing some really big problems. Terrorism and the economy are like pimples compared to the lung cancer of pollution, overpopulation, global warming, clean water, pandemics, and totalitarianism. Conservatives don't care about these issues (except for who gets the contract). All they care about is transferring more American wealth from the middle class to the top 1%.

The wealthy will not have a problem with global warming. They will be living in their mansions in Finland and Canada. We in Texas will be sitting in the shade at 120 degrees waiting for the electricity to come back on so the AC will work for an hour.

Everyone should thank the current administration (and yes, former pres. Bush) for the stimulus that has kept police and fire stations fully operational. I can only imagine how many people would have died needlessly if the numbers of police and fire fighters had to be reduced because of state budget crises.

Biden and Obama are both trying to tout the stimulus to try and convince Americans that it was worthwhile! They know that the public is beginning to realize that all it did was put our country further in debt. They believe that if they can say it helped enough times that some people will believe them! Our economy would be much further along today if the stimulus actually went back into all Americans pockets so that they could spend THEIR money the way they wanted!!

Biden spreading more lies about the stimulus program, all of you who don't have jobs and whose retirement funds are shot, should attend, but I am quite sure that only the libitard faithful (an oxymoron if there ever was one) will attend. Anyway enjoy more lies, they come by the hour from this administration.

Yeah, in my area they got half a million dollars to lay down crushed limestone on three miles of a bike trail. It took a total of three days and two trucks. That sure was effective in creating jobs. Thank you folks in Maine for helping pay for the new crushed limestone layed down over old crushed limestone. I am able to ride my bike on the trail just as before except, instead of donated contributions, it was paid for by all the tax payers across the country. I hope everyone gets an chance to come here and ride our beautiful bike trail since everyone else paid for it. Enjoy giving away your hard earned money to the government for my bike trail. If we vote more Democrats into office, you can pay for another three miles – suckers.

Touting the stimulus are you kidding me? Close to 10% unemployment after the administration said it wouldn't go over 8% after spending the 787 billion. I am sure the lefties have forgotten that since he has saved so many jobs. Barack will come out soon I am sure if he hasn't already and will say sure we lost 4 million jobs but we have saved over 50 million. What a complete joke both of these clowns have been!!!!!!!!!!!

The stimulus is creating SOME jobs in the government and public services sector - I'd prefer private sector, but jobs are jobs I guess. Regardless, the costs for creating these new jobs are tremendous. This is a typical waste of taxpayer money.

But more important, this "stimulus" is just a paintball being shot at the juggernaut of unemployment. It's effectively doing nothing.

  20. Think

"Carnahan's campaign says they raked in over $1 million in the third quarter,..."

Wow, that would probably support 20 families in their district for the coming year. If it's quarterly, they could provide 80 families continued living for that period. Don't you think a gesture like that would probably get more free airtime and garner more votes than just saying "My opponent sucks!"?

The cumulative value of ALL campaigns doing this and the clowns spending money on Yes/No health care adds would relieve us of a lot of problems. Alas, grabbing more power to make people's lives better is actually more important than actually making their lives better.

Biden: We spent 787 Billion of Chinese debt to INCREASE unemployment to 10% and give our cronies jobs and contracts! That's change you can believe in.

Boy that stimulus was great. Unemployment at 10%, the defecit thru the roof, oh and AIG giving bonuses to the cleaning crew. Could you imagine what would have happened if they didn't pass the stimulus?

The most dangerous leadership ever. They are institutionalized weakness in the face of growing adversity.
