George W. Bush wants to help people 'Get Motivated!'.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Former President George W. Bush has a new speaking gig.

Bush will be featured as the "special guest speaker" at an October 26 "Get Motivated!" business seminar in Fort Worth, Texas, according to an announcement on the organization's Web site.

Tamara Lowe, the Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Get Motivated Seminars, Inc., said in a phone interview that the former president will appear live and in person at the upcoming event. Lowe estimated that Bush will speak for roughly 20 minutes. Lowe also said that the company has all the necessary safety precautions in place to host a former president.

Bush's former Secretary of State Colin Powell and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani are set to join Bush at the October 26 event.

The former president is also scheduled to participate in another "Get Motivated!" seminar in San Antonio, Texas on December 2, according to the company's Web site.

"For a limited time only," the Web site says, tickets are available to the October and December events for $4.95 per person or $19 for a group.

CNN is awaiting confirmation from a representative of the former president about the scheduled appearances at the seminars.

Business advice? From him? Y'all would be better off putting him on Dancing With the Stars. Even then, Maybe.

Mike   October 22nd, 2009 12:41 am ET

I feel sorry for anyone who pays $4.95 to hear him speak. And your whole office for $19? Classy. Has got to be some kind of cult for sure...

trishaw   October 22nd, 2009 12:38 am ET

Are you kidding me? My son owns to businesses. He is married and has a baby on the way. As a business owner health insurance is out of the

Boo Taubman   October 22nd, 2009 12:32 am ET

Well, his old job was also as a cheerleader.

sammy   October 22nd, 2009 12:30 am ET

If will be very hard for them to get motivated infront of the man that wiped out most of their pension.

Charles Veidt   October 22nd, 2009 12:29 am ET

Motivated? To do what?

Run some businesses and a baseball team into the ground?

Start a war with a country that never attacked us?

Mispronounce a lot of words and not care?

Alienate the overwhelming majority of Americans?

Sheila   October 22nd, 2009 12:29 am ET

CNN the extreme left covering a stupid story about George Bush. Fox and CNN are BOTH the same. CNN the extreme left and Fox the extreme right! Where do we go for the REAL news?

sanity check   October 22nd, 2009 12:29 am ET

How does our government let this criminal walk around free?!!! We need to execute that embarrassment.

Gary   October 22nd, 2009 12:26 am ET

Well i guess he and cheney didn't make enough bribe money while they occupied the whitehouse. So he will motivate people. what will he teach them. Lying, coniving. cheating, screw your fellow american. Nuff said

Wow   October 22nd, 2009 12:24 am ET

Are you serious? You ruined our lives. Your presidency marked the end of prosperity for millions of Americans, do you really think a douche like you can actually motivate us?

What would motivate us would be if you left the country for good. Go to Iraq so they can throw shoes on you.

TM   October 22nd, 2009 12:22 am ET

After eight years of scaring us with bogus terror alerts, violating our rights with illegal wiretaps, and violating his SWORN OATH to uphold and defend the Constitution by ordering torture in direct violation of US treaties and law, George W Bush finally and unquestionably motivated this nation to repudiate both his party and his political philosophy.
That being said, there is NO amount of money that you could pay me to sit and listen to a single word he has to say, with the possible exception of the phrase "I'm sorry".

Independent Voter   October 22nd, 2009 12:19 am ET

Seriously??? This man is directly responsible for the start of economic collapse . Anyone attending this has wasted their money, just how Bush wasted American tax dollars.

George W. Bush has "helped" America enough.

petena   October 22nd, 2009 12:06 am ET

Get Motivated Seminar from Bush? Is this for real? The man left this country in such a turmoil HE was the one who needed to get motivated and get our of the White HOuse more often and tell us what HE was doing to get us out of the mess he put us in. PLeeeeaze.............

Kenny F.   October 22nd, 2009 12:05 am ET

Get motivated? Yeah, right! His lies have got us in another Vietnam. We finally got the son of a bush out of office. The man caused enough trouble and grief for the country. . . . sending us into another (almost) depression. What is he trying to do? Finish us off? The man needs to go into recluse. He's done enough damage to our country. Hasn't he learned his lesson yet? Dude . . . stay out of sight. Glad you're gone and glad you're not coming back. Hopefully there won't be another worst-rated president like you in office. Go into hiding AND STAY THERE! That way, you won't be spending our money on your security. I'm not anti-republican, but I'm definatlely anit-bush. Good thing the prices are so cheap . . . most folks can't afford it right not because of him.

JOSEPH BUTTACAVOLI   October 22nd, 2009 12:03 am ET

you go George, show these people how a real president get's people motivated. enough with obama already, he can't lead this country.

Steve in Denver   October 22nd, 2009 12:02 am ET

Surely, they can't be serious! The guy who couldn't find oil in Texas? every company he owned had to be bailed out by friends or poppy?

An ivy league education and he couldn't deliver the simplest of speaches. Allowed the worst attack on American soil. Started and bungled two wars. Took more vacation than any two other presidents combined. Had zero curiosity (becaues he knew it all). Zero effort towards self improvement.

What on the lord's green earth is he going to motivate anybody to do?

Roger Lane   October 22nd, 2009 12:00 am ET

I hope G.W.Bush is getting $4.95 for his speaking fee, that sounds fair.

George Guadiane - Austerlitz, NY   October 21st, 2009 11:58 pm ET

What does it say about the man? The best (only?) job he can get is working as a huckster in a public environment where the entry fee is about equal to the price of a Happy Meal...
Even Sarah Palin, the crazy as a bedbug "Right" wing darling of the Born Again Tea Baggers gets better, International gigs, for REAL money.
How much must the world hate him?
Could he get a real job? Did anyone buy his book?

Will people actually go to see him (and be polite)?

Judy Dressel   October 21st, 2009 11:57 pm ET

I would pay much more than $4.95 to hear George W Bush. The fact that you have that as a poll in light of all the other news going on in the world is a sample of why your station is doing so poorly in the ratings. Keep up the good work.

Dennis L Grote   October 21st, 2009 11:56 pm ET

GWB ... just relax... even Matt Foley ( Chris Farley's character ) would have more insight and interest to motivate than you ever will ...stay in Texas .. and chill...

Ricky   October 21st, 2009 11:54 pm ET

Would I pay $4.95 to hear George W. Bush speak? Sure. (But not $49.50.) He's not much of a speaker, but he is the former President of the United States!

Karin   October 21st, 2009 11:54 pm ET

Hey, it's cheaper than a movie!

Matt   October 21st, 2009 11:52 pm ET

Whether you agree with his politics or not, President Bush tried to do what was right. I don't feel the same way about Obama. I feel that he has an ideology that he wants to push, regardless of its affects on the ordinary US citizen.

Tracy Allen   October 21st, 2009 11:45 pm ET

"Lowe estimated that Bush will speak for roughly 20 minutes. Lowe also said that the company has all the necessary safety precautions in place to host a former president."

Are you kidding me? I don't think there is enough security in this country available for Bush to go speak at anything ever again.

Not that he would have anything intelligent to say anyway.

Mike Buck   October 21st, 2009 11:45 pm ET

When former President Bush took office our economy was financially in the black, we had a budget surplus, When he left our debt was over 11 trillion in the red. (That's 11,000,000,000,000) Every business he was ever a part of went in the hole. He was divider and not a uniter. What could he possibly offer to motivate us?

Cindy in FL   October 21st, 2009 11:39 pm ET

Yeh I just found out I have to go this 'Get Motivated' seminar thingy as a 'teambuilding event' at work here in Jax, FL on Nov 2.. well the only people I really want to see are Zig Ziglar, Colin Powell, Steve Forbes. Those would be my faves out of that group, but either way I have to go so guess I'll get excited about it. Although Mr. Bush will not be at ours, I definitely would NOT need to hear him speak. He's done enough damage to this country to really want to hear what he has to say @ this point???! What would be the purpose?? unless I really like punishment!! lol :)

John Cobarruvias   October 21st, 2009 11:38 pm ET

$4.95 to see a former President of the United States speak about getting motivated. Bush will probably wake up at noon.

Alena   October 21st, 2009 11:37 pm ET

That...will be the one for the ages.....I kinda want to laugh....

ender   October 21st, 2009 11:35 pm ET

That is ~exactly~ what this nation needs right now.

A reminder of just how bad the republicans screwed things up.

And good Ol" former President Bush is exactly the man to do it.

David Orban   October 21st, 2009 11:34 pm ET

I'll wait for the Daily Show's coverage of this important event.

Dan   October 21st, 2009 11:33 pm ET

Ruth Orth   October 21st, 2009 11:32 pm ET

"Get Motivated" seminar is coming to Fort Worth, TX on October 26th, 2009. Our office is getting tickets for anyone who wants to attend. The entire office is going for a price of $4.95 for the group not each. I volunteered to watch the phones in the office. No guest on the list could motivate me. Final reminder was given today to those who wanted to attend so I may not be the only one working that day. It's great to be a Government employee!

Justin   October 21st, 2009 11:32 pm ET

Good for him. I'm happy to see him take on this role.

jon,philadelphia   October 21st, 2009 11:29 pm ET

Why didn't he actually do something positive when he was prez. Instead, he turned the world against us and squandered our future.

Katherine   October 21st, 2009 11:29 pm ET

What does George W. Bush have to offer? He failed miserably at every business he ever ran!

Stephanie   October 21st, 2009 11:28 pm ET

For The Poll:

Would you pay $4.95 to attend a motivational speech by President George W. Bush?

^^^ Its FORMER*** President!

Thank God He Isnt Anymore....

Axel   October 21st, 2009 11:26 pm ET

Oh, joy. Business advice from someone who has never made an honest dollar in his entire life.

George Guadiane - Austerlitz, NY   October 21st, 2009 11:26 pm ET

AMAZING, Sarah Palin gets better gigs than GWB...
OK, it's not REALLY amazing, it just highlights how BIG a loser the former President is, Nationally and Internationally. Can't get a good paying job. Gotta let ANYONE in (even Democrats and Liberals), got let them in for about the price of a Happy Meal...
And I bet he doesn't have the wit so see the ironies of all of this.

Darth Vadik, CA   October 21st, 2009 11:26 pm ET

A failed businessman 5 times over is suposed to give a motivational speech, what's he going to say?

I hope you have a rich and powerful daddy like me?

saftgek   October 21st, 2009 11:25 pm ET

What?!?

Motivate who to do what?

I truly hoped this lifelong failure would disappear after January's Inauguration, never to surface again. Alas, such is not the case. To imagine someone actually paying to see this miserable excuse for a human being is beyond comprehension.

Our country continues to spiral downward, thanks to the ultra-Right extremists and their collective warped sense of reason.

k   October 21st, 2009 11:25 pm ET

I wonder who Bush is returning the favor for while speaking at this thing

These things are like a cult, brainwashed people brainwashing other people hoping they can get rich off of someone else's misfortune

Dee, 1 Vote   October 21st, 2009 11:25 pm ET

Jr can you go back to bed! 8 yrs and you can't do anythink right!

A Neugen   October 21st, 2009 11:22 pm ET

I wish I would never see George Bush face in the news again. He irreparably destroyed this nation with two wars and two recessions. He should speak about "Mission Accomplished: America Destroyed". Or he should speak about "Get Motivated ... to Destroy America".
People should gather a lot of shoes to throw at his face. Venezualan president Chavez should attend and call him "The Devil".
Dubya
Double Wars
Double Recessions

Dave of Old   October 21st, 2009 11:22 pm ET

And this is the guy who didn't get motivated when he heard about bin Laden to strike in US? You have got to be kidding! He does know how to get motivated for war, however! Perhaps that is his impetus to provide talks on motivation! He also knows how to ruin good countries, toss in a wrench to the economic system and so forth. But motivating people?

JM   October 21st, 2009 11:21 pm ET

I'd probably actually go see this. I like the guy a lot better now that he's out of office.

ed321836   October 21st, 2009 11:18 pm ET

My respect for General Powell just took a beating.

Stacie   October 21st, 2009 11:16 pm ET

He should stay secluded at his ranch. Every time he shows up in public I'm reminded of just how lucky we are to have President Obama!

Tim Fitzgibbon   October 21st, 2009 11:14 pm ET

Anyone who would refuse to hear a former president speak for only $4.95 is a complete moron. I have never met President Bush but have friends who have had one-on-one conversations with him and to a person they say he is bright, friendly and very articulate. The press liked to show his stumbles but the guy didn't become the Governor of Texas and a two-term president without having a tremendous amount of ability. I didn't like Jimmy Carter much as a president but would love to hear him speak in person. It's a shame that politics have become so divisive that 68% of your voters would not pay a few dollars to see President Bush.

The Weatherman   October 21st, 2009 11:13 pm ET

Maybe Wubya could give Obama a "get motivated" talk about protecting American troops in Afganistan.

Ex-NC-Pub   October 21st, 2009 11:13 pm ET

$4.95 for mangled language and dithering thoughts is $4.95 too much.

Marty   October 21st, 2009 11:09 pm ET

At a rate of US$ 4.99 to hear from G.W.Bush how to run a company into the ground and ruin a whole conrtry – that is a bargain ! Let's go !!!!!

New Yorker   October 21st, 2009 11:08 pm ET

I'd love to go just to get a chance to personally thank him for the excellent job he did while president. Too bad he isn't still president; he would clean up in Afghanistan.

BTW, he looks fantastic!

Susan   October 21st, 2009 11:05 pm ET

Wow, $5 to hear the ex-President speak on motivation. Wonder how many tickets they can sell? You couldn't pay me to sit there...I'd be way too tempted to shout "Liar" at him a few hundred times. But then, I'm sure all ticket buyers will be vetted and no liberals allowed, just like at his Presidential rallies.

Jason   October 21st, 2009 11:03 pm ET

I wont pay a penny to see Bush who made US disaster.
He is just pathetic a former president started meaning less war and killing innocent peoples.

America wants you back Mr President. Outside of the brainless leftist fanatics Americans now realize how much they miss you. HAHA this must be a Joke right? this idiot had 8 years to motivate people!

Hannah   October 21st, 2009 8:12 pm ET

I think we are all motivated but we have no jobs thanks to bush and no money either. All the money in this country is going to the very top and the government doesn't want to tax those people, so we now have no government services either. They are closing rest stops along our highways in Arizona, just one example. If you are traveling along these roads you just pee on the side of the road; it's good enough for the poor folk.

Tony from NY   October 21st, 2009 8:12 pm ET

So let me understand.....you steal an election, start a war with the wrong country after terrorists attack us on your watch (but claim you made us safe), make torture acceptable to the new illegal standards you set, turn the constituion upside down, dumb down our educational system, deny global warming exists, encourage a new brand of extremism in your party, fear monger around the world, try to re brand your image and now try to "motivate"....and at the discount price of $4.95! The only thing that surprises me is that General Powell–who is an amazing leader–is joining the likes of you and your bully buddy. Wonders never cease.

Michael   October 21st, 2009 8:11 pm ET

Bush is hosting a business seminar????
Every business he's ever run including America, Inc., he ran into debt and into the ground.
It's funny that tickets are less than $5 per person. I guess that says exactly what people feel he is worth when he is speaking about something. Not, exactly the usual post presidency speaking price of 100k is it? Haaaahaaaa! Funny!

THE THREE STOOGES: BUSH–led us into an unnecessary war that killed 4,000 brave Americans, killed 100,000 innocent Iraqis, created 2 million refugees, and cost hard-working taxpayers a trillion dollars.
POWEL–acted as lackey for the Bush administrations by speaking at the U.N. about the fictional WMD's. GUILIANI–billed New York taxpayers a half-million dollars for the cost of visits to his mistress, while his wife and kids were back home at the governor's house. And we should admire these men because...?

We have enough motivation to last us 50 years, thank you very much.

I'm sure the Republicans are going to come out in full force with their shotguns and mission accomplished signs!

Shirley In California   October 21st, 2009 7:43 pm ET

I'm a Liberal-You got a problem with that?   October 21st, 2009 7:43 pm ET

Get Motivated? Get motivated to what? Start wars and clear brush?

They call me "tater salad"   October 21st, 2009 7:42 pm ET

I wonder if this whole shin-dig is aimed at "motivating" the remaining 20% of the mindless, sheep the Republicans have left in their flock? Sure seems that way.

Jane   October 21st, 2009 7:42 pm ET

Way to go President Bush. We MISS YOU EVERY DAY. TEHRE IS NOT A DAY THAT SOMEONE SAYS "hOW WE NEED YOU BACK". You never cared about star power, you just wanted to keep us safe and you did and we LOVE YOU. It wil be so nice to see you out again,. Yes, take all the speaking engagements you are offered and we know they are many – Obama did'nt care what he said about you and why should you care? But you do because you have character and the desire to do what is right. We know you will be nice to Colin Powell, but we don't know how you can after all he has said about you.

Charlie Martin   October 21st, 2009 7:41 pm ET

Who would want to see that idiot speak..

Get Real   October 21st, 2009 7:41 pm ET

I wish him all the luck on motivating people. I doubt they will listen or take him serious.

StevieB   October 21st, 2009 7:41 pm ET

Ouch! That's only a step or two away from appearing at the boat down down at the civic center.

WIll he be opening supermarkets next year?

James   October 21st, 2009 7:40 pm ET

Let the liberal Bush bashing begin. Get over it, Obama is President now and screwing things up far worse than Bush ever did.

Socrates   October 21st, 2009 7:40 pm ET

I have been taught to respect others.. doesn't matter who could they be.. But.. when I see this person.. all I do is to think about the 4,300 young soldiers, and 30,00 wounded physically and emotionally because of a war based on lies and deception.. I remember him flying to see the Olympic games in China and not inviting one wounded soldier.. This fellow brought this country to its worse economic situation.. but I don't blame them.. I blame those ones that elected him.. Bush is one of the most mediocre Presidents this country had.. and now he is going to try to motivate others.. motivate to lie and deceive?

Keeth in California   October 21st, 2009 7:39 pm ET

Wasn't that also his job as president? FAIL!

GetOverIt   October 21st, 2009 7:38 pm ET

I think I'd be "motivated" too if I was getting the kind of honorarium I'm sure he's getting. Sort of a strange role model for success, though, huh? "Do as I say, not as I did".....?

Tom   October 21st, 2009 7:38 pm ET

My bet is this is the next of many "quid pro quo" deals for Bush. My feeling is Get Motivated Seminars is a front for a conservative lobby group and is paying him $10,000/minute or more to flap his gums sans substance or in other words deliver a speech that took 15 minutes to write and says nothing. It would be free money and an all expense 5 star trip for him and his wife for something he signed that cost the tax payers a few hundred million passed on to the private sector. Prove I'm wrong, have Get Motivated Seminars open their books and show owners, investors and "friends & contributors" so we can see if I'm reaching or on target.

Dawn Ada, Ohio   October 21st, 2009 7:36 pm ET

The only thing that I would be motivated to do if George Bush were to come to my business is CALL IN SICK!!!

Alicia   October 21st, 2009 7:35 pm ET

He spent 977 days on vacation at either Camp David or equally at his ranch in Crawford, Tx while we were fighting two wars. Apparently he had a difficult time motivating himself. I would call it just plain lazy.
