Rep. Joe Wilson's wife has swine flu.
Rep. Joe Wilson's wife has swine flu.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Rep. Joe Wilson's wife Roxanne has been diagnosed with swine flu, the congressman's office confirmed to CNN on Thursday.

The South Carolina Republican who gained instant notoriety in September for shouting "You lie!" at the president told The Hill newspaper on Thursday that he plans to keep his distance from his wife when he returns home this weekend.

Wilson said he plans to get the H1N1 vaccination soon, but only after "the majority of the American people" receive it.

Rep. Greg Walden, R-Washington, is the only member of Congress to have contracted swine flu. He tweeted the news on Monday, revealing plans to head off to "seclusion for a while" while he recovers.

You know that old saying... "Lie down with dogs and rise with fleas"

I suppose that applies to swine, too.... wonder who passed it to whom?

Dr Levin   October 23rd, 2009 2:26 am ET

Get well soon!

Kel   October 23rd, 2009 2:25 am ET

Dang. If only Wilson had gotten it himself. Then we could call it karma. Of course, I don't wish for anyone to get seriously ill... Actually, too bad we couldn't spread swine flu to kill off Osama bin Laden. Maybe Kim Jong Il, too. I definately wouldn't be sad if that were to happen.

Todd   October 23rd, 2009 2:21 am ET

Joe, what is your opinion on (viral) evolution? Hopefully you will die from H1N1. Crossing my fingers along with other real Americans. Go flu, go!

Scott Alexander   October 23rd, 2009 2:19 am ET

How does CNN expect us to respond? This isn't a ticker-worthy item as it involves someone personally and not politically. Yes, Joe Wilson is a bad person (you can't deny it). It was proven the President didn't lie, Joe did lie, and Joe refused to admit it – that makes him a typical GOPer – so no big deal to his base. And any GOP person who claims to care about money and doesn't want undocumented immigrants covered with this health care reform...try to learn some math. It costs more money to go to the emergency room than to be covered under some type of insurance. If you claim undocumented immigrants don't pay taxes (the rich don't pay taxes – are you mad at them too?), then why are you in support of them using more tax payers money at emergency rooms?

Anyway, Joe's a bad person. I don't know squat about the type of person his wife is. I hope she gets well soon.

Michael J   October 23rd, 2009 2:18 am ET

Is this really relavant "News"???

ob   October 23rd, 2009 2:15 am ET

Karma gets you buddy!

Elizabeth   October 23rd, 2009 2:11 am ET

Joe Wilson "plans to keep his distance from his wife when he returns home this weekend"! Whatever happened to "family values"? I believe that marriage is meant to be "for better, for worse, in sickness and in health." Why won't he be "there" for Roxanne when she is sick?

RJ   October 23rd, 2009 2:10 am ET

You reap what you sow – get it? Swine – SOW. Get it? Looks like you got it alright. If everything is relative, you ought to suffer more. PIG.

Terry from West Texas   October 23rd, 2009 2:04 am ET

So far, only Conservatives in Congress have been connected to swine flu.

Now, we have been assured by America's foremost televangelical theologians that Aids and Katrina were sent by God to punish the gays.

Could it be that God has sent the swine flu to punish Conservatives for the damage they have done to the nation? After all, it is called "swine" flu. Just a thought.

I hope Mrs. Wilson gets well soon.

Charlie Brown   October 23rd, 2009 2:03 am ET

That's a pre-existing condition. She shouldn't receive any medical treatment.

Only after "the majority of the American people" receive it. Please, spare us all the hypocrisy

BillA   October 23rd, 2009 2:00 am ET

The poor woman...perhaps she has been living with a Swine too long.

tooley   October 23rd, 2009 1:55 am ET

I'm sure they have good health insurance.
The "You Lie Guy" is not worried about getting sick.

Bill from CA   October 23rd, 2009 1:51 am ET

Not surprising she would get swine flu when she kisses a pig every day.

Joe   October 23rd, 2009 1:31 am ET

Again..it's not 'swine' flu..it's just H1N1

Cato   October 23rd, 2009 1:26 am ET

Sure am proud for her that SHE has good health care....

Gary   October 23rd, 2009 1:19 am ET

Swine must not care who they come into contact with.

Steve   October 23rd, 2009 1:17 am ET

I don't agree with his politics but I wish his wife a speedy recovery and hope that he doesn't contract it too.

Jim Doyle   October 23rd, 2009 1:12 am ET

Probably caught it from the swine...

Buddbo1   October 23rd, 2009 1:09 am ET

She probably caught it from that swine of a husband she has. Get rid of him and you'll clean up the air you breath !

My god! Karma IS real!

michael   October 23rd, 2009 1:01 am ET

Miriam Geryol   October 23rd, 2009 1:01 am ET

This is news? Get real CNN.

Frederick Jones   October 23rd, 2009 12:58 am ET

Robert in Austin   October 23rd, 2009 12:46 am ET

The reason she has Swine flu is because she lives with that obnoxious ignorant red-faced piggy.

Mark, Phoenix   October 23rd, 2009 12:44 am ET

When he found out, he shouted at his wife "You lie still!"

Fed Up   October 23rd, 2009 12:42 am ET

Oh gee. She must be human like the rest of us. What a surprise!

Ken Williams   October 23rd, 2009 12:34 am ET

Well let's have it. All the hateful angry liberals will get a big kick over this and how she deserved it for being married to Wilson.

Economist   October 23rd, 2009 12:22 am ET

Mr. Walden is the only Congressperson *known* to have contracted the H1N1 virus. That does not imply that he's the only one to have contracted it.

Corey   October 23rd, 2009 12:16 am ET

Sorry to hear that. Hoping for a speedy recovery for Mrs. Wilson.
Kudos to Joe for waiting until it's available to rest of the nation!

MissyW   October 23rd, 2009 12:13 am ET

He can get the shot but he'll still be a pig!

Jeff W.   October 23rd, 2009 12:11 am ET

'Wilson said he plans to get the H1N1 vaccination soon, but only after "the majority of the American people" receive it.' (rolling my eyes). I love it when these blowhard Republicans express faux compassion.

GOPer   October 23rd, 2009 12:03 am ET

I say let Joe Wilson stand in line at a free clinic to get his shot. I assure you he lacks the courage to do this.

bibek   October 22nd, 2009 11:57 pm ET

Karma bites in the butt

James   October 22nd, 2009 11:57 pm ET

Glad to see a Congressman and his wife excercising some good old common sense in keeping distance until the bug passes – rather than risking getting the flu and spreading it given how public his job is. Finally – someone with brains!

the Film Professor   October 22nd, 2009 11:55 pm ET

Instant Karma gonna get you,,,,,

Shawn   October 22nd, 2009 11:53 pm ET

MAYBE instead of keeping away from his wife..he will learn to keep his big mouth shut. Love him or hate him..you dont interupt the President of the United States when he is making a speech. Maybe his mom never taught him never to interupt people when they are speaking...

Debbie   October 22nd, 2009 11:51 pm ET

Can we just say that Wilson has H1N1 and have hime keep his distance from the American public?

Sandy   October 22nd, 2009 11:41 pm ET

We wish you a very speedy recovery. We need bold leaders like you who are not scared to expose the corrupt president and his administration.

Kevin   October 22nd, 2009 11:40 pm ET

Why are lawmakers wives being tested.. every news report indicates that test are only for those hospitalized.

bill   October 22nd, 2009 11:39 pm ET

Poor woman. I think she contracted it from sleeping with a pig.

(I do wish her well. Him not so much.)

Janet   October 22nd, 2009 11:34 pm ET

I hope Ms Wilson has health insurance. Oh, that's right, she has that public option insurance through her husband's employer, the Federal government!!

please   October 22nd, 2009 11:31 pm ET

maybe because she married a swine!! haha I kill me

Anonymous   October 22nd, 2009 11:28 pm ET

Republicans are losers   October 22nd, 2009 11:27 pm ET

Go to bed with a pig you're liable to wake up with Swine Flu.

Jerry   October 22nd, 2009 11:23 pm ET

Not to worry, Joe–you've got Congressional health insurance. Unlike 47 million of your constituents, you're nicely covered....

Janet   October 22nd, 2009 11:22 pm ET

Cold, cold "man!" He could wear a surgical mask and gloves and provide a little comfort to his wife. But then, looking at his angry face might not improve her health at all.

Damon   October 22nd, 2009 11:21 pm ET

Best wishes for a speedy recover to Roxanne Wilson. Despite my distaste for Rep. Wilson's behavior and perverse politics, there's no room in civilized society for anything but concern and empathy for another fellow human being in need. Barack Obama taught me that.

Wendyj   October 22nd, 2009 11:20 pm ET

He will keep his distance from his wife when he returns home? He wont get the shot himself until "the majority of the American public receive it"? He is an elected "leader" ? What a jerk and a horrible husband. I guess he's got his priorities in order. For a jerk. And that is a gross understatement.

Bealzip   October 22nd, 2009 11:16 pm ET

Lynette   October 22nd, 2009 11:14 pm ET

Who cares did this man apologize for making our Country look bad by insulting our President? His wife has better sense than he does. She asked who was the idiot who yelled at the President. He should have gotten it, and I'd better not hear one complaint about his health care...too bad,

Gary   October 22nd, 2009 11:12 pm ET

Boy, I sure hope Joe dosen't get it. That would be terrible.

Steve   October 22nd, 2009 11:08 pm ET

We need more characters like Sanford than Wilson. Sanford is a uniter and Wilson is a divider. If you read the comments under Sanford's article, you will find that everybody is in agreement there. I have never seen any character lately that is so uncontroversial.

pt   October 22nd, 2009 10:58 pm ET

Don't tell us; people will say he got what he deserves with some saying God is punishing him. CDC states people are contagious one day prior and up to ten days after symptoms start. He got it from someone and is sure to have given to others.

Samuel   October 22nd, 2009 10:56 pm ET

It is really too bad that this has to happen to great people. I will be praying for his wife as well as Joe! He is a good man and had the balls to stand up and say it when no one else would. This president better sit up and take notice of what is going on around him. He has Communists surrounding him and they are giving him some very bad ideas for this country. A Civil War broke out in America once and it can happen again just as easy. Only this time there are more people who are going to take it seriously and take part....

A Southern Lady - North Carolina   October 22nd, 2009 10:56 pm ET

I have great sympathy for Mrs. Wilson contracting swine flu. Being married to an insensitive clod like Mr. Wilson, the mouth that yelled "you lie" to President Obama, is enough for one woman to bear. I wish her a speedy recovery.

TM   October 22nd, 2009 10:54 pm ET

I hope Mrs. Wilson has a very light case and recovers soon and that Rep. Wilson does not catch it. I still do not agree with him, but hope that we can all be charitable about this.

Lil   October 22nd, 2009 10:52 pm ET

Boy Joe, I guess someone up there is listening to our prayers! Hopefully your wife will sneeze on you. But unlike many uninsured Americans your family's insurance is paid through American taxpayer dollars!

Question will Congressman Wilson take his wife back to S. C. to a private hospital or like the rest of the Congress go to a government run hospital?

Congressman Wilson you "LIE"

I hope she recovers quickly – and I sure hope the real Mr. Liar himself doesn't tell her she wasn't really sick from that fabricated "flu" that the administration is foisting off on the public as a pretext for dangerous vaccinations...

Frisky   October 22nd, 2009 10:38 pm ET

Too easy, too many swine jokes associated with this man.

McCain-in-4   October 22nd, 2009 10:37 pm ET

Senator Wilson,

Joe, I know we've had our disagreements in the past, but please give Roxanne my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

President Obama, Nobel Laureate

Loann Drake   October 22nd, 2009 10:37 pm ET

along with being Mr. Rudeness I guess we can add Mr. Sensitivity to Wilson's credentials with his saying that he will stay away from his wife. Maybe she could use a little TLC.

dave   October 22nd, 2009 10:36 pm ET

I thought you couldn't catch swine flu from a pig.

Michelle   October 22nd, 2009 10:34 pm ET

DAVE   October 22nd, 2009 10:27 pm ET

before any of you liberal know it all's say what I know you are going to you had better think about the karma that will be heading your way...... people are dying from an epidemic that our country can't seem to figure out how to get out to the people who need it.... i find it hard to fathom these so called delays that should not be happening yet the CDC is on every week tallying up the death tolls because of the govt. lackidazical approach to helping it's citizens..... when the manufacturers of the vaccine were asked about the delays they all said that they are on scedule at 95% procuctivity yet they can't figure out how to distribute because the GOVT. is charged to deliver instead of private industry..... and these idiots want to run health care..... give me a break

Cathy Gray   October 22nd, 2009 10:26 pm ET

Is this a joke? His wife is home burning up with fever and body aches and he promises to "whoever" that he won't get near his wife???? That confirms a lot about him calling the president of the US a liar while he is a guest speaker in the House of Representatives. Maybe early dementia??

dave   October 22nd, 2009 10:26 pm ET

she got the swine flu from the biggest swine in SC...her husband

asianb   October 22nd, 2009 10:22 pm ET

I am sorry that Mrs. Wilson is ill but maybe it had to do with fact that Rep. Joe Wilson, her husband is a pig.

mk   October 22nd, 2009 10:21 pm ET

I wish her well, I had it a month ago and it is tough. I know she is getting the best of medical care, in a setting were there are no illegals getting health care and everyone has good health insurance. If I were her I would always want Joe to keep his distance anyway, his hate and bigotry might be contagious.

linda   October 22nd, 2009 10:21 pm ET

Hmmm. Interesting. I wonder how old she is. The New York Times had an article the other day that claimed most people over 50 are just not getting it (the Swine Flu).

c   October 22nd, 2009 10:21 pm ET

I guess the real swine gave it to her.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wilson have great government health care paid for by the American taxpayers.
I am sure the doctors and the hospital will give Mrs. Wilson wonderful care that the rest of us out here that don't have insurance will never get.

George Guadiane - Austerlitz, NY   October 22nd, 2009 10:02 pm ET

Yeah, but he has health care, and since he works for us, and we pay him, we pay for his health care.
He's a JERK and probably in the pocket of Big Business, but I still hope he gets better...
And maybe grows a conscience, a brain and some manners...

Is that too much to ask?

Well, how about that...Fortunately, the Wilsons have government-run health-care.

Sali   October 22nd, 2009 9:50 pm ET

Why is CNN soliciting comments on the news that his wife is sick? CNN is just baiting all the hate and vitriol from the lefties who are going to gloat about this.

Patrick   October 22nd, 2009 9:01 pm ET

To CDC..... YOU LIE... there is no such thing as the swine flu.

Innoculations?!!?!?! A GOVERNMENT CONSPIRACY TO INFECT us with nanites which control our mind to change us to socialism!

Avoid innoculation... the nanites may re-program your kids to harm you.

R U for Real? CA   October 22nd, 2009 9:01 pm ET

I guess, that's what happens when you lay with a pig – you get swine flu.

Makes sense to me...

RJ   October 22nd, 2009 9:00 pm ET

I am not certain why this is newsworthy. 79 children in our small K-4 elementary school were absent today with the flu. Life goes on outside of Capital Hill.

Bart   October 22nd, 2009 8:52 pm ET

Why is this a story?

Santa Fean   October 22nd, 2009 8:50 pm ET

She got it from an ignorant pig.

Caleb   October 22nd, 2009 8:48 pm ET

Thank goodness! the neanderthal believes in science now. If the planet warms up enough maybe we can even convince him that global warming is real. I am just waiting for a republic president to be yelled at in congress and see if the media will treat it the same way.

Robert   October 22nd, 2009 8:48 pm ET

Wow, already the bad karma moving in on loudmouth Joe.

Strange Days   October 22nd, 2009 8:47 pm ET

He should take her to the emergency room, because that is what he believes would be an efficient use of resources in our health care economy.

Mickey, NY   October 22nd, 2009 8:46 pm ET

That's what she gets for kissing a PIG!

Nice   October 22nd, 2009 8:40 pm ET

who cares!

bergwood   October 22nd, 2009 8:40 pm ET

Getting the vaccination AFTER getting the H1N1 won't help!!! A vaccination is to teach your immune system what threats there are to defend against in a safe manner. By getting the flu, you've already done the work of the vaccine.
Stop cutting the funding for good science, and while you're at it, learn something about what science can do for you.

cherinhi   October 22nd, 2009 8:38 pm ET

I wish her the best, but can you say "karma, " Joe?

Sue   October 22nd, 2009 8:38 pm ET

Lucky for Mr. Wilson, he and his wife have good socialist...I mean ... public provided insurance to take excellent care of them. Too bad the rest of us are on our own. Thanks to tight- wad....I mean CONSERVATIVE Republicans and a few stupid Dems.

molly devlin   October 22nd, 2009 8:36 pm ET

I'll bet Joe Wilson's wife has excellent health care.........paid for by the American taxpayer............better known as a government-provided system..........the same health care that all of us should have.

Shame on this country. And shame on our lawmakers, if they can't fix this, they deserve to be voted out of office. All of them, including Obama, are influenced by lobbyists and donations from insurance and drug companies. It is time to recognize that health care, equal and excellent health care, is a fundamental right of every citizen of this country.

Jeff   October 22nd, 2009 8:36 pm ET

and this is relevant how?

30m-PA   October 22nd, 2009 8:36 pm ET

There's no use for a comment section for this story.

Someone - Pearland, TX   October 22nd, 2009 8:36 pm ET

Well I hope his wife recovers, despite the fact that I hated him for saying that.

brook   October 22nd, 2009 8:35 pm ET

hope she recovers soon! hope he gets it and a severe case. jerk probably voted against the hate crimes bill.

independent   October 22nd, 2009 8:35 pm ET

I wonder how many right wing zealots will say that this is a punishment by God?

Jacob   October 22nd, 2009 8:35 pm ET

When the doctor told them that she had swine flu Joe yelled "You Lie!" to which the doctor responded, " No, I don't, here's the lab test, take a look." Joe, then looking at the tiles on the floor said, "Yeah, I know, I tend to do that when I'm scared."

norm   October 22nd, 2009 8:32 pm ET

I don't wish ill on anyone... Karma?

Sheila the mum...   October 22nd, 2009 8:30 pm ET

There's a lot I'd like to say but I'm a lot more dignifeid that Mr Wilson. I'm sure his wife will get the appropriate drugs and care and have a speedy recovery, unlike those who are uninsured and will just have to struggle through ...

mjm   October 22nd, 2009 8:30 pm ET

Is CNN going to report every time someone gets the flu?

It's the flu. She'll get over it in 5 days tops.

And for the record, government employees have PRIVATE insurance, not government insurance. BCBS pays their bills just like everyone else. The cost of Wilson's health insurance comes out of his pay check just like everyone else.

So if you want health insurance like Wilson's and congress, then you DO NOT WANT A PUBLIC OPTION.

Jasmine in Germany   October 22nd, 2009 8:29 pm ET

I don't believe this for a second, I believe it is a publicity stunt. I have no doubt that Mrs. Wilson may have influenza (yes, H1N1 could be suspected by her physician), but I think it is being exaggerated to create a little image enhancement for Joe. I'd like to see a copy of the lab reports with real proof, not a rich person's doctor making a "probably" statement.

jazz lady   October 22nd, 2009 8:28 pm ET

I may not see eye to eye with him, but I wouldn't wish him or his family any harm. My best thoughts to his wife for a speedy recovery.

Tony   October 22nd, 2009 8:27 pm ET

Pig flu hits home.

PAUL   October 22nd, 2009 8:27 pm ET

Slap her in the best hospital money can buy....she's well covered with heath insurance.

Joe the Comment Leaver   October 22nd, 2009 8:26 pm ET

You have to wonder why God would choose to punish Joe Wilson by giving his wife swine flu. I guess God disapproves of Wilson's "You lie!" I hope Wilson will take God's message to heart and repent.

CD in FL   October 22nd, 2009 8:25 pm ET

How was that called again?? Ohh, yeah.. It is called karma!

Holly   October 22nd, 2009 8:25 pm ET

You could call this Karma, however, she has the best medical coverage a greedy, low-life, Republican can buy!

jackie   October 22nd, 2009 8:24 pm ET

SLAMMER!!!!!. . . . . . . Too bad, but I'll bet she has the best medical coverage a greedy Republican can buy, the rest of us sure don't!

Blue   October 22nd, 2009 8:23 pm ET

The wife always suffers from the husband's stupidity.

Dorothy   October 22nd, 2009 8:22 pm ET

Sorry she's ill – but this one is just too easy, lol. How could you live with that man and not expect to get swine flu?

candy girl   October 22nd, 2009 8:22 pm ET

Honestly, CNN, is this really political news???????

JILL   October 22nd, 2009 8:19 pm ET

I'm sure she has great medical coverage.

Nadeem   October 22nd, 2009 8:19 pm ET

Will she get reated through a government run option – the answer is yes for this hypocryte

Allen   October 22nd, 2009 8:19 pm ET

it's no wonder......she lives with pig. What the heck, she has great health insurance. No worries for her!!!!!

Sam   October 22nd, 2009 8:17 pm ET

I wouldn't wish the flu on anyone, however I find it curious that the H1N1 Flu seems to be asserting itself slowly within the Republican Party. Hmmm...seems as if someone or something is trying to tell them something. Just sayin

Sue   October 22nd, 2009 8:13 pm ET

Best wishes to Mrs. Wilson on a speedy recovery.

Steveo   October 22nd, 2009 8:06 pm ET

Good thing he and his wife are covered by government sponsored health care.

They call me "tater salad"   October 22nd, 2009 8:03 pm ET

This "nobody" shoots his mouth off at Obama and is suddenly a "somebody" that CNN, somehow, finds newsworthy! How sad.

Donkey Party   October 22nd, 2009 8:01 pm ET

Good thing Roxy is under Joe's congressional health care plan that the public pays for. She should think about kicking her husband off the farm as prevention from getting infected again.

probama in paradise   October 22nd, 2009 7:57 pm ET

As a democrat loyal to President Obama, I could write something very nasty...but I won't.

I just hope Mrs. "You Lie" gets plenty of rest and feels better soon.

JIM CARTER   October 22nd, 2009 7:57 pm ET

Hey Wilson-You're my HERO for telling it like it is.
Hope your lady has a speedy recovery.

Dan in San Marcos   October 22nd, 2009 7:56 pm ET

Stating the obvious, "couldn't happen to a nicer guy". (But sorry about his wife.) I bet he's real glad he has that good government-supported health insurance. To help out those of us who the caring insurance companies refuse to cover, I assume that he will be voting for a public option or something similar just in case we or our spouses or kids get sick. Anybody taking bets? I'd better stop – I think if I keep this up my attitude will start to show.

cynthia   October 22nd, 2009 7:56 pm ET

why is this a story?

another george   October 22nd, 2009 7:56 pm ET

karma, I guess. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy...

Bob (Illinois)   October 22nd, 2009 7:56 pm ET

CNN: Your point being?

Jenn, Philadelphia   October 22nd, 2009 7:55 pm ET

Okay, sorry to hear it and hope she gets better. Not news.

Hilary   October 22nd, 2009 7:51 pm ET

Let me guess......she got it from him.

Jim   October 22nd, 2009 7:51 pm ET

What a non-news item for CNN to report! I do not like Rep. Wilson and think he acted very rudely and disrespectfully to Pres. Obama. I would like to see the voters of South Carolina turn him out of office. But his wife's health problems are nobody's business.

Dan   October 22nd, 2009 7:51 pm ET

What now, a news story for every congressman who gets sick? Please.

annie s   October 22nd, 2009 7:51 pm ET

Not to worry, she has very good government funded insurance – you know, the kind her husband wants to deny the rest of us?

m smith   October 22nd, 2009 7:50 pm ET

This is one of he dumbest articals I have ever read. Who gives a rat's . Didn't this guy get enough publicity already?

Rob   October 22nd, 2009 7:46 pm ET

She must have caught it from her husband.

torbor   October 22nd, 2009 7:45 pm ET

You know what it extremely sad about this story? It has made national news headlines.

yawn   October 22nd, 2009 7:45 pm ET

this is not news, who cares

Anonymous   October 22nd, 2009 7:44 pm ET

You Lie. ha ha ha

sdc   October 22nd, 2009 7:44 pm ET

He has nothing to worry about, he has really good health care for him and his family, unlike millions of working Americans who cannot afford it or have been denied due to a preexisting condition....

NC   October 22nd, 2009 7:41 pm ET

I hope Mrs. Wilson recovers and that's all I'm saying. I won't touch this, it is wide open for pig comments.

Cryston   October 22nd, 2009 7:37 pm ET

Interesting. Very interesting. I wonder if there is such a thing as 'what goes around comes around'. Interesting.

Dylan from MN   October 22nd, 2009 7:34 pm ET

I don't mean to laugh, but um.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Liberal4Obama   October 22nd, 2009 7:33 pm ET

The GOP's dear leader told his listeners not to get vaccinated against any flu, looks like Wilson is one of them. I don't understand why republicans hate science so much.

The Republican party is Beck-Rush   October 22nd, 2009 7:32 pm ET

No problem for her getting the best health care treatment available – she get "socialized" government health care.

FEAR   October 22nd, 2009 7:31 pm ET

HAHAHA!!! Good. This guy is pathetic.

If Republiklan neo-cons represent “christian” values and they will spend Eternity in Heaven, then my only inquiry to St. Peter will be, “Where is the down escalator?”   October 22nd, 2009 7:31 pm ET

God is punishing the liar!

Reagan was wrong   October 22nd, 2009 7:30 pm ET

I hope she gets better soon. That being said, Joe Wilson is still a boorish redneck.

JR   October 22nd, 2009 7:29 pm ET

What a bonehead, his wife HAS the flu, but he's going to politicize his getting a vaccination until he's milked it for gain and until it doesn't matter. Classic neo-con, too little, too late and politics first.

StevieB   October 22nd, 2009 7:29 pm ET

Poor lady. First she has to suffer the embarrassment that is her husband and now the pig has made her sick, too.

Scandalous   October 22nd, 2009 7:28 pm ET

That's funny that he made it a point to say that he will get the vaccine only after "the majority of the American people" receive it. Wouldn't want to be the guinea pig now would we Rep. Wilson? You Lie!

Carole   October 22nd, 2009 7:27 pm ET

Does she have health care? Oh yeah, we pay for it. Maybe she should not take anything for it like the millions of other uninsured.

JJ in Chula Vista, CA   October 22nd, 2009 7:24 pm ET

Joe Wilson's wife being diagnosed with H1N1 has nothing to do with anything political. It has nothing to do with Joe Wilson's demenor, beliefs, or his bad behavior, nor does it excuse that bad behavior. It has nothing to do with Republicans or Democrats.

The only point of interest is that this disease can touch anyone and will likely touch everyone one way or another eventually.

I just wish her a speedy recovery, and that it didn't pass on to any more of their family, friends, or co-workers.

pam lanzotti   October 22nd, 2009 7:24 pm ET

Wilson will probably find some way to blame the flu on Obama.

Gobama   October 22nd, 2009 7:21 pm ET

I am sorry that Mrs, Wilson has H1N1. I would not wish it on anyone. Good thing she has the best (free) health care Joe's job can buy. What about the rest of us Joe????

Frank, Las Vegas   October 22nd, 2009 7:21 pm ET

It's a good thing HE has a good health care plan. If only he thought every other American deserved what HE has.

"Wilson said he plans to get the H1N1 vaccination soon, but only after "the majority of the American people" receive it." Joe, YOU LIE!

Steve, Jackson MS   October 22nd, 2009 7:16 pm ET

Hope Mrs Wison enjoys the taxpayer-funded Health Insurance Congressmen and their families get.

Janet Carter   October 22nd, 2009 7:14 pm ET

Wilson's lying. I don't believe a word he says.

jts   October 22nd, 2009 7:12 pm ET

I hope she recovers safely.

But can you say karma?
