Obama doesn't have a clue about energy, he just reads his teleprompter.

China is buying oil leases in the Gulf of Mexico, Russia will soon be drilling off the coast near Key West Florida and the loons in Washington dare speak about our dependence on foreign oil? Why aren't we using the resources we have here in the USA? I'm in Louisiana and the oil industry here is at a standstill. Thousands have lost their jobs since Obama was elected.

Is that change YOU can believe in??????????

Can we stop talking and taxing and just put up solar panels on every federal building in the country....that would be a good start.

If we don't allow more nuclear power plants to be built, "clean energy" will only become reality when the US economy falls some 80% from its current level.

The Obama / Gore / wack-o dreams were last realized in the early 1800's.

Mark- You just nailed it! in a nutshell. The "green folks" don't realize we have to have oil until we develop alternatives. And even then, plastics are an oil product. But we're letting our natural resources be taken away.

The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere at the end of the 20th century was about 700 billion tons. Human activities increases the CO2 content in the atmosphere by more than 1% each year and if we continue to emit CO2 at the current rate, by the of the 21st century we will double the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere today, the concentration of CO2 is caused by burning of fossil fuel and cutting down of trees. We can disagree to agree that, human kind is destroying itself!!

Global warming is a hoax. We have plenty of energy.
Build more nuclear plants, they are clean, works for the French.
Drill for more of our own oil, the more of our own we drill the more secure we will be.
We have tons of coal, keep pushing clean coal technology.
And throw up all the wind mills and sloar panels we want.
But don't use cap and trade to punish energy use and cursh our economy for no good reason. We have tons of energy resources in the US and the only reason to not make full use of all of them is the global warming hoax.

Eliminate fossil fuels and none of us will be able to afford electricity or running water! We'll be living the way people did back in the stone age!

By the sound of the comments left on here, conservatives aren't used to forward thinking. Universities around the country, not just MIT, are already involved in technologies that will lead to significant clean energy breakthroughs in the next few years. We don't have to drill more and pollute more, we don't to build more nuclear plants. We just have to stop wasting the energy that we do, and get busy implementing the new technologies as fast as possible. Would you rather us be left behind, and our technologies developed off-shore?

    NATURAL GAS!!!

And we have lots of it. I don't understand why we aren't making the most of this obvious bridge fuel.

cap and trade should be called cap and scam. this so called president hasn't got a clue when it comes to energy. I'm all for alternative energy but we have to use what we have until we get there and we are a long way from being there. DRILL NOW AND USE MORE COAL NOW UNTIL WE GET THERE.

Yet, this administration gives Brazil 5 billion, yes 5 billion, so they can drill for oil.

We're in a lot of trouble folks....lets just hope we can hang on until 2010 and 2012 when this President is voted out.

What the tree huggers don't understand is that they are putting restrictions on natural gas production by imposing unrealistic restrictions on the hydraulic fracturing process that makes the gas available.Natural gas is a clean fuel and we have enough in the Haynesville and Barnett shales to provide more than enough energy to the United States for many, many years. The restrictions need to be backed off of, so that we can get the job done. There is also enough of our own oil that has not been tapped to do away with dependence on foreign oil, but again all the tree huggers and believers in the global warming falsehoods continue to constrict exploration and production. I live in oil country and we have never had a problem with oil and gas production impacting the environment at all.

clean energy needs to take center stage as oil dwindles. That's where the future job will be. The sooner we get started the better.
