Rep. Grayson calls Cheney a vampire

Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Florida, attracted attention for a tirade in the House against the GOP's health care plan.

Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Florida, attracted attention for a tirade in the House against the GOP's health care plan.

NEW YORK (CNN)– Controversial freshman Rep. Alan Grayson, who has become famous for attacking the Republicans' health care plan, went on the attack again Friday night, calling former Vice President Dick Cheney a vampire for his recent criticism of the Obama administration's handling of the war in Afghanistan.

"I have trouble listening to what [Cheney] says sometimes because of the blood that drips from his teeth while he's talking," the Florida Democrat said on MSNBC's Hardball Friday night. "But my response is this: he's just angry because the president doesn't shoot old men in the face. But by the way, when he was done speaking, did he just then turn into a bat and fly away?"

In a hard-hitting, wide-ranging speech last Wednesday, Cheney targeted the administration's decision-making process on how to proceed in Afghanistan, saying Obama has failed to give troops on the ground a clear mission or defined goals and appeared "afraid to make a decision."

"The White House must stop dithering while America's armed forces are in danger," Cheney said at the Center for Security Policy. "Make no mistake, signals of indecision out of Washington hurt our allies and embolden our adversaries."

In responding to Cheney's attack, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs on Thursday got in a jab of his own.

"What Vice President Cheney calls 'dithering,' President Obama calls his solemn responsibility to the men and women in uniform and to the American public," Gibbs said. "I think we've all seen what happens when someone doesn't take that responsibility seriously."

Grayson, a successful trial lawyer turned Congressman, shot to national fame - and notoriety - last month, when he took to the floor of the House of Representatives and dramatically described the GOP health care plan as: "Don't get sick, and if you do get sick, die quickly." He refused to apologize; Republicans say they'll mount a stiff challenge against him in his conservative-leaning district in 2010, but so far no one has come forward.

I am appalled at the diatribe against the republicans at a time when the world situation calls for alignment in the United States. This man has been elected to public office to serve his constituents to the best of his ability. Instead he seems to be serving his ego in attempt to call attention to himself in this negative way. Really sick and tired of this
all too familiar way these politicians serve themselves and no one else.
get back some dignity and regain some ethics that used to prevail.

    Congressman Grayson....way too graphic.....

Former VP Cheney has a right to make someone else look bad based on his judgment of others. And he has a right to only judge himself only what he precieves as he looks in the mirror or what his yes people tell him.

I get the point of vampire and shooting defenseless men on accident, but the blood on his teeth puts me at a loss.

But the real deal is we were attacked on VP Cheney watch while he was in his hideout, making ugly statements about the previous administration. The "real" revealing thought is how much interest in KBR does VP Cheney currently own and how influencial was he on getting them a noncompete contract with the government before and after 911.

I disagree with Grayson here. I do not believe that Cheney is a vampire.
I believe the blood is on Cheney's hands, not in his mouth, or, for that matter, in his veins.
But I do agree with Grayson that Cheney is not a human being.

Why is it always okay when Democrats are vicious and hateful? If a Republican made those comments, he would be labeled by the media as divisive, antipartisan, racists, hate mongering. Yet let a Democrat call a former Vice President a Vampire with blood dripping from his mouth and all of a sudden it is okay. This nut shouldn't be given any press or publicity. How much outcry was there by the media when the general population protests were called disruptive at Town Hall Meetings by our government because the folks didn't jump on the "agree with me" bandwagon. Why do we tolerate an elected official being so hateful and negative? He didn't contribute any positive statements just insults to Cheney's comments on Afganistan and the current administrations policy. What do you think would happen if Cheney had called them "Vampires"? Ever notice how the bleeding hearts take from the hard working middle class to give to the "poor" folks who get free everything. I worked 2 jobs to provide for my child, bought marked down meat, and shopped clearance all year for Christmas presents, driving my old beat up car. So how do you think I feel when I drive past Salvation Army on the pickup days and people are carrying out bags of toys, to their much newer and nicer cars, and when I stood in line behind somebody with their piled high shopping cart with top of the line food items at the grocery store only to see them pay with their food stamps, while I have my marked down meat, minimal shopping list and coupons in hand. Yet the bleeding hearts and a lot of the so called poor drive nice cars, wear designer clothes, have their manicures and hair done weekly. Why don't the bleeding heart liberals that take from me give till they bleed like they are doing to the middle class? Try giving up your private jets, limo drivers, etc. and give to the poor yourself. I bet you wouldn't like if you had no choice in how much you give and had it being taken from you like you do to the middle class. I'm sick of them all.

Insulting a world-class obscenity like Cheney is a wonderful tonic for the 8 years of lies, war, torture, pollution, theft, global economic fraud and the incredible refusal to answer any questions except with expletives but when do we put the piece of filth in jail where it belongs?

And the rest of the "bushies" too...

. . . all Congressional and Senatorial Democrats get a steely backbone much like Alan Grayson. The nation voted for CHANGE in 2006 and 2008, and gave the Democrats the overwhelming majority they need to implement CHANGE. And what do the cowardly Democrats do? They frighten like sheep and huddle in a corner in fear of a few loud mouth Republicans and their Health Insurance & FAUX News backers.
