Grayson apologizes for 'whore' comment

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Florida Democrat Rep. Alan Grayson issued a written apology Tuesday evening for a comment for a month-old comment that has stirred controversy on Capitol Hill in recent days.

During a September radio interview, Grayson called Linda Robertson, an aide to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke who has also worked as a lobbyist, a "K Street whore."

In a statement issued Tuesday evening, Grayson said his comment was inappropriate.

"I offer my sincere apology," Grayson said in the statement, "I did not intend to use a term that is often, and correctly, seen as disrespectful of women.

"This characterization of Ms. Robertson, made during a radio interview last month in the context of the debate over whether the Federal Reserve should be independently audited, was inappropriate, and I apologize."

Just hours earlier, a spokesman for Grayson had defended the comment in a statement to CNN.

"She actually questioned his understanding of the difference between fiscal and monetary policy," Grayson spokesman Todd Jurowski said in the earlier statement. "She had the audacity to attack a congressman who used to be an economist. She's a career lobbyist who used to work for Enron and advocates for whatever she gets paid to promote."

The freshman Democrat recently grabbed the national spotlight after saying in a speech on the House floor that the Republican health care plan is "Don't get sick, and if you do get sick, die quickly."

    The
comment may have been inappropriate, however true it may be. Grayson can hit em' hard without singling out a particular constituent. Women know the deal. Some will make a federal case of it, while others will say, "easy fella, not so ugly, alright." In the mean time, I hope rep. Grayson continues to boil the party of 'no sense' and 'no shame'. The holiday's are upon us, so let's have some cooked republian/conservative as an entre'.

the comment got missed. i said i clairvoyantly saw the federal reserve chairman loading suitcases of money and taking them home on a monthly basis or more often. maybe that linda was accomplicing it or directing it. but maybe there's more of her involved.

I also sent in information via detroit city hall that the governor of michigan though it may be hilary clinton when she was governor of new york was funneling money illegally from the treasury to her husband. FBI somehow don't like investigating these type of illegalities.

Well Sometimes you call them like you see them. At least it was not during a session in congress.

I am glad Alan Grayson said that because now maybe Americans will listen to what he and Ron Paul are trying to do with the HR1207 bill in Congress now. Is to AUDIT the Federal Reserve, FIRST TIME since Congress gave the Federal Reserve power since 1913.
Please do research on our history regarding the Federal Reserve Act 1913 that President Woodrow Wilson signed.
We fought the Revolutionary War with George Washington to break free from Private International Bankers printing our money and charging us interest ...for their profit...so now Ron Paul and Alan Grayson are leaders and getting our monentary system back to America, our government, our country to print OUR MONEY interest free. Our government CAN control inflation and deflation.. It's in our CONSTITUTION.

It's like finding our there's no Santa Claus when you were little, now finding out about the Federal Reserve as an Adult is shocking. And you thought the President controlled our Country...NOT

What a double standard. If this guy had a big R behind his name, they'd be calling for his resignation.
