(CNN) – The White House carefully continued its assault on Fox News Tuesday, as a senior White House adviser told CNN's Campbell Brown that the network was "of course" biased against the Obama administration, but immediately backtracked slightly.
Speaking at the Women's Conference in California, White House Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett said the Obama administration is "calling everybody out" when it comes to "patterns of distortion" - echoing the Democratic National Committee's "Call 'em Out" campaign that targets critics of the president's health care plan.
To the question of whether Fox News is biased, Jarrett replied: "Well, of course they're biased. Of course they are."
But when Brown followed up by asking Jarrett if she thinks MSNBC is biased, she quickly downplayed her original remark. "Actually, I don't want to generalize all of Fox is biased or that another station is biased. I think what we want to do is look at it on a case-by-case basis," she said. "When we see a pattern of distortion, we're going to be honest about that pattern of distortion....
"We're actually calling everybody out. So this isn't anything that's simply directed at Fox. We just want the American people to have a really clear understanding," said Jarrett.

FOX news IS biased, and frankly, there's nothing wrong with saying it out loud. it's not like it's a secret.

Jarrett, and the entire administration, just doesnt get it. The TRULY biased networks are those like MSNBC whose anchors get "goosebumps" whenever they hear Obama speak. (Chris Matthews). The huge majority of the media have ALWAYS been biased toward the left..... and that's why Fox's coverage seems so strange (and biased) to left-wingers. They are just not used to hearing BOTH sides.

I think all media is creating the media. FOX,CNN, MSNBC and others. Real journalism died sometime ago. Too many commentators not enough Journalist. In fact, we have become commentator through these comment boards. Not a useful tool in the end. People who don't have all the facts blurb out and think they do. Who's guilty? Everybody. The public feeds on it. The station provides it otherwise they lose money.
Having tested the waters on the FOX site I have no doubt whatsoever that FOX has the main agenda of pulling down the Obama administration. President Obama would be well served to treat this "entertainment" network for what it is... A bunch of clowns all trying to get into one telephone booth.

It's very clear. If the administration's message is being challenged, they will smear you until they get the advantage again. They, as Anita Dunn admitted, do everything they can to control the media, control the message. When others challenge them and stop drinking the Obama Koolaid, they go on the attack.

BOTTOM LINE: MSNBC's Prime Time line up is biased, but it is not intended to be NEWS. They are Prime Time shows that talk about political issues. The MSNBC News shows are not biased they just report the news. ON THE OTHER HAND, not only are FOX's Prime Time and speciaity shows biased, the shows that are supposed to be just reporting the news are biased too! That's the difference. MSNBC doesn't try to act like they are "fair and balanced" when clearly they know they are being biased. FOX though, tries to act like they are being balanced even when they are not.

I generally watch/listen to them all and read from many sources inside and outside of our country to get an informed opinion. That opinion isn't good: Obama is failing as our leader; borrowing and spending to get out of debt still won't work (it never has and never will); investors in US markets will lose in the long run unless it's gold or oil (assuming the government doesn't take our profits it away); and yes, illegals are killing our system and the only way to fix it is to make them legal....as long as they can pay a fee to get in like $5000 per person or more. Then we'll have the problem of where they get the $5000....likely from legal citizens in an illegal fashion.

If you're going to play this game, play it smart. What you SHOULD have said is: "It can be argued, and certainly many people do, that MSNBC is biased in our favor. However, MSNBC carries by far more accurate news reporting and more informed commentary than Fox. So if their more responsible handling of the facts leads to a bias in our favor, it simply reflects our own efforts to work out America's concerns within realistic parameters - and to call out others (such as Fox News) who would insist on doing otherwise."

We all know that all TV networks are biased, for example take CNN, they were very supportive of President Obama since he started campaigning to become President, while Fox supported McCain. Now the problem here is that by banning or calling out on specific networks start creating what Venenzuela, Cuba and even Mexico has. Every time (which is almost daily) some one conclusively shows Fox lying or fabricating (like all the YouTube videos showing the Fox News producers directing the cheering of tea-baggers at an allegedly "grass roots" rally), Glen Beck and his cronies will say "Hey, we're just entertainment. You're not supposed to take us seriously!" Then when the White House and the legitimate press decides to treat them like the clowns they are, they scream "We're a legitimate news organizations! You can't discriminate against us! What about freedom of the press!" Where were the "freedom of press" cries when Fox News was labeling anyone who even questioned Bush's decisions (like going into a Iraq) as traitors and accused them of "giving comfort and aid to terrorists". Face it conservatives- you lost big time, you're in the minority, and you're a bunch of sore losers. Take your ball and go home. The country does not want or need you.

Fox is the only place to get all of the stories. To Obama supporters it looks biased because Fox is the only one writing about the bad things Obama has done and is doing, as well as the good things he has done and is doing. Where as CNN, MSNBC, etc. only write about the good and not the bad. Fox is the only place to get the whole story, they are the only ones who have refused to be paid off to keep quiet or intimidated to be quiet by Obama. I've got news for everyone all news stations are biased it's not hard to realize this, my junior year government class discussed biases on news reports from all the major news casts. And to be honest, Obama is biased. He has his own opinion on how he wants to do things. Not everyone agrees, in fact polls show about half the voters in America don't agree with Obama. Even many in his own party do not. Obama should be more worried about 50% of voters not agreeing with him on his policies than about one news station that is more conservative than the others. When a network touts "fair and balanced" as a slogan, and that slogan is the only detectable portion of their broadcast that indicates that status, I call it biased.
This is not to say that other sources are not biased, but they don't pretend otherwise.

Let's call it down the middle. Fox has a conservative lean and is surely sympathic to the Right. MSNBC is the same, but in the opposite direction. It does not feel that MSNBC is as bad as FOX because of where I stand. However, the truth is the truth. CNN seems to be the most balanced with both left and right programming. CNN, keep doing what you do, and I will continue to watch.

I don't watch Fox. I get real news from real reporters who write for a living. Meaning READ! Not watch. Television quit doing real journalism back in the 80's when cable first came about.
I know, I used to work in TV news back then. No reporter left the assignment desk without the clipping from the newspaper of the story they would be covering that day. Management became so afraid of losing viewers (meaning dollars) they told us in meetings to start making the news more "entertaining". That's when someone hung a sign on the newsroom door, the picture was of a new gravestone waiting to be carved. It read, Real Journalism-RIP, and had that days date on it.
Now almost thirty years later it still rings true. And has always been true for Fox. It wasn't until then that Fox started to broadcast. And guess what they didn't get clippings they got memos from Roger Ailes (or A lies, if your into anagrams) which is just what Fox broadcasts.
What a load of crap! And of course as usual the liberals come on here to defend MSNBC or bash Fox even more. With this obsession people have of sensationalize propaganda from myopic viewpoints it's no wonder we can't get the real news. Free speech is under attack and most comments are aimed at "liberals" or "conservatives", in other words "Democrats" or "Republicans." Wake up, folks, the politicians, regardless of which of the two main political parties are in power, are waging a war against free speech. INSIST on having the news media, regardless of bias, give us JUST the actual news and not the views, as is supposed to be the case (lose the adjectives!), and then we'll see some change. Also, if you want REAL change, vote out ALL incumbents and vote only for candidates who are NOT Democrat or Republican. The bureaucrats will keep the government running just fine despite the politicians' turnover.

What baffles me is WHY the administration thinks it's okay to 'call everybody out'. Fox is obviously a more conservative station and MSNBC and CNN, etc are clearly more liberal. Personally, I don't like to be told what to think by either so I will tune into both occasionally, just to get a different spin on things. Fox News is no more conservatively biased than ABC, NBC and CNN are liberally biased. Fox only seems "biased" because everybody has grown accustomed to an incredibly liberal media that is always attempting to push an agenda rather than just reporting the news.
The last news broadcast I trusted for the truth was Walter Cronkite. That being said, most of the networks are biased so far to the left, that Fox sticks out even though it's closer to balanced than the rest. Fox had the ACORN story a full week before the rest of the networks picked it up. Why is that? Oh I forgot, it made liberals look bad. By the way, if Obama can't handle Fox, how is he ever going to handle Russia, North Korea and Iran?
I watch CNN news and AC360 and sometimes Larry King and always watch The Cafferty File on the Situation Room. Other than those shows, I no longer listen to or watch CNN. LOU DOBBS and CAMPBELL BROWN turned me off to CNN. Now KEITH OLBERMANN, RACHEL MADDOW, CHRIS MATTHEWS AND THE ED SHOW have my attention while I record AC360.

I find some of the delivery on Fox News opinion shows a bit annoying for sure , but I have gotten more information from Democrats on that channel as well as backed up with videtape information on the current administration , than all other media combined , and this is just watching 10 minutes here or there. It almost seems like they are the only station asking the hard questions at times , and with all thats going on in Washington , as well as all thats been proposed to happen with this administration , I would say we need the harder questions from all media at this time.
A strong argument would be: "Fox is wrong, and here's why...." A weak argument is "Fox is unfair." Pretending neutrality is not only impossible given the nature of the office, it's not even desirable. Use the presidency to confront your critics and advance your views as a political actor. Using the office to pretend at being being some kind of disinterested spectator is just ridiculous, given the platform you have to advance your own views and policies.
CNN should get its facts straight. First of all, Valarie Jarrett has not retracted her previous statement about Fox News being biased. In fact, she restated it during her interview with Campbell Brown. Ms. Jarrett simply said that the she and the Obama Administration will state the truth and facts about the healthcare problems and their causes and will call out people who distort the truth. They will educate the American people on the need for reform and about the pending legislation H.R. 3200. This does not qualify as a retraction of her previous statements. It is a well-known fact that Fox News is a biased media outlet and is a propaganda organ for the conservative movement.

CNN deserves praise for raising the issue. Fox News has two components: news and commentary. The news part cannot be considered biased. The commentary part is a question we can easily answer. Sean Hannity has always been upfront about his thoughts. Up until this year he was the conservative half of the dynamic duo Hannity & Colmes, where Colmes was (and still is) liberal. What is the beef? Glenn Beck has always stated he is a regular guy. He beats up Republicans as much as Democrats. He recently lashed out at Republicans for supporting Dede Scozzava, to whose policies he objects. When you get to the news side, where is the bias? Examples would be good. They try to get as many Democrats as Republicans to discuss the issues. So if you want to say they are biased you can clearly do that from the commentary programs but there is no secret. As for the news side I would reject that claim.
For people who are supposed to be leading this country Valerie Jarrett is about as shortsighted and biased as one can get. In the old Soviet Politburo it was called sycophancy; a polite term for attaching your lips to your leader's posterior.

After the WH comments about Fox, i tuned in for the first time. Fox is absolutely a refreshing change. You hear both sides, not just the Democrat side. I feel for once that I am better able to analyze what is going on in government. I wish I had started watching Fox earlier. They are very courageous and independent.

That said, FOX news comes from a conservative slant, while most other news outlets come from a liberal slant. FOX is far outnumbered and I can't see why it has liberals so up in arms. I want the truth about what is going on in our country/world. When a news channel is willing to report the facts and ask the difficult quesitons then that station has my attention. When the station shows a bias such as salivating over BHO, then that station does not deserve the attention because they are not going to ask the tough questions or report when things are not going so well. Take the good with the bad and get on with it. The WH is attacking FOX because FOX is not slobbering all over the administration. They are challenging the administration and its choices and look at how they are reacting. Maybe the administration does have something to hide out there or just are too thin skinned to take it.
When there is no place to challenge the leaders of this country then what does it say about the people (complacent......) and the leadership (shut 'em up at all costs so I always look good and to the garbage with freedom of speech).

MSNBC is owned by GE, GE is the 5th largest at spending money for lobbying.........GE makes wind turbines............MSNBC huge pusher of Obama and attacker of anything in his way (( thier way ))........Cap and trade.........money goes to GE. That's why she ran from it. For anyone who hated the Cheney-Haliburton situation, what are your thoughts on this? As a note, GE, huge provider of medical supplies, and I'll let you draw that one backwards.
MSNBC has good news coverage. The morning shows report the news also. They usually let you know where the information originates and you can verify the source. CNN reports negative one week ande positive the next. When news is slow CNN stirs the pot a bit. They also let the republicans off the hook while pinning down the dems. MSNBC has held both parties at times to the fire. CNN also seems to be against the public option which must have good health care. Even though MSNBC may have good health care they favor the public option for the masses of Americans without good care. I remember how CNN would not carry Obama's informercial because they felt it was not be fair to McCain. On that same night Larry King had McCain on his show. Previously, McCain would not accept an invitation on Larry's show. CNN is biased sometimes also.
Of course FOX NEWS is BIAS especially Hannity and Beck ... President Obama WON get over it..better still get out of the way and stop trying to derail everything he does.
