Jarrett makes, retracts charge Fox is biased

(CNN) – The White House carefully continued its assault on Fox News Tuesday, as a senior White House adviser told CNN's Campbell Brown that the network was "of course" biased against the Obama administration, but immediately backtracked slightly.

Speaking at the Women's Conference in California, White House Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett said the Obama administration is "calling everybody out" when it comes to "patterns of distortion" - echoing the Democratic National Committee's "Call 'em Out" campaign that targets critics of the president's health care plan.

To the question of whether Fox News is biased, Jarrett replied: "Well, of course they're biased. Of course they are."

But when Brown followed up by asking Jarrett if she thinks MSNBC is biased, she quickly downplayed her original remark. "Actually, I don't want to generalize all of Fox is biased or that another station is biased. I think what we want to do is look at it on a case-by-case basis," she said. "When we see a pattern of distortion, we're going to be honest about that pattern of distortion....

"We're actually calling everybody out. So this isn't anything that's simply directed at Fox. We just want the American people to have a really clear understanding," said Jarrett.

Typical administration tactic. Talk before you know what the facts are...like in Gates-gate, or have no answer when they are called out on something. Interesting irony–they are calling out everyone else but can't take it when they themselves are called out. Reveals how deep the amateurs populate this administration.

Yes, the American people are smarter than that. I don't care what candidate you were or are for; this Obama administration seems to think they are all powerful, ie. Rahm Emanuel/Obama, if you criticize this administration you are "OUT". How long does he/they think people (Americans) are going to tolerate this kind of thing? Our former president was/is called a moron, an idiot and on and on. Obama still tries to blame George Bush for everything he messes up, or any and all things wrong with this country. When does it stop? How long does he think he can ride this? I can tell you people are finally beginning to "wise up" to him. Americans are not as stupid as he seems to think they are. He's pushing the envelope. Mr. O needs to stop trying to intimidate anyone who doesn't bow to him. Sooner or later he's going to have to get on with it.

So Fox news is an arm of the Republicans? So I guess that to set things straight would be for Fox to join CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and NBC all of which are lapdogs for the Obama adminstration. Fox news has way more opposing people on their shows than all of the others combined. You just can't stand that they continue to expose Obama's corrupt white house.

Fox is biased. MSNBC is biased, CNN is biased, the New York Times is biased – SO? It just seems this White House is calling out anyone who doesn't agree with it. Biased is fine and dandy if you are in their favor and grovel at the feet of the WH.

Yep. Those that have a different opinion are biased. Except......those that just love BHO so much that they even praise the fact that his poop does not even stink. I imagine that before long BHO will be chainging the US Constitution so that the government has complete control of what other people think, especially since he wants control of everything else. But, unlike any other rock star, Obama wants to protect his "popularity" more that he wants to come up with a strategy on the Afgan war, only months after he put his own in place. BHO is in for a very rude awakening. While he selects the places that he speaks to give him that rock star feeling, the real voters in the US are drinking tea, and come next election he is going to see just how much of a rock star he ain't.

Bush complained about MSNBC ALOT! But folks have short term memory. Dana Perrino many times talked trash about NBC MSNBC ..a private company but of course they could never be communist only Obama can be one. Quite interesting. Youtube it Bush vs MSNBC or Dana Perrino and MSNBC. A whole history.

better question would be: is any news media NOT biased? they are all lean – Fox appears to be more biased because the left leaning network/cable news are more extreme organizations and out number Fox, creating greater contrast.

Fox news is slightly biased, some of their programming is really biased. CNN.com is biased. Just look at the story lines and the slant it has. MSNBC is biased, in fact every news network and newspaper is biased. Only people that are ignorant and hide behind their political party can see it different. Truth hurts.

I happen to be a conservative that doesn't read or watch FOX news contrary to what some posting here state about all conservatives being glued to FOX news 24/7. Just shows your liberal bias in making the comment. Of course the new CNN home page ad nonsense might drive me to change news websites, but not to FOX.

That said, FOX news comes from a conservative slant, while most other news outlets come from a liberal slant. FOX is far outnumbered and I can't see why it has liberals so up in arms. Obama is looking foolish, petty and scared to keep having his administration call FOX names. Everyone knows FOX is more conservative and any honest person will admit most other outlets are liberal, so what is the big deal? Last I checked there was still free speech and freedom of the press in this country, even if Obama doesn't like it.

MSNBC needs to stop charging and they would rank higher..I have comcast and you have to pay extra for this channel. I would gladly switch it out with Fox News. Gladly. Theres always a spin with their news its very obvious and everyone knows it. Jarrett does need to prepare better though. She was a good advisor during the election but now its just too big time for her. Also the 'senior administration' official thats always leaking wrong info..the outlets need to stop listening to this individual. hint hint CNN.

All you people jumping o Fox. Why dont you take a look at MSNBC. It is so totally biased that it is the mouthpiece for the ObamaAdministration. Admit that it is true. Not oncve have you seen criticism of anything Obama has done.... All that Obama and his minyards want to do is censor all braodcasts that are not favorable to them,. No one dares speak up if the ydo they are labeld as idiots, fear mongers, far right. Get over it. Fox is the only that tells what is really going on and does not sugar coat it like your liberal Rachel and Keith. How much are they being paid by the Administration to spread their fear mongering???? How could you idiots think that MSNBC is not the mouth piece. Please do not say they are fair....that insults the American peoples intelligence.

It has been well known that the media has always been a liberal media. Since Fox came along, we now see the other side. Who is more concerned; the liberals or the liberal media?

hey, excuse me.... I watch Fox news channel, I would just like to point out, that up until this year I generally voted democrate, once voted independence, and if Regan was a republic, voted for him... not sure what that makes me, as far as right, left. but for now, I'm a tea bagger unhappy with the direction our country is heading.

It's truly a shame that people are rooting for our president to fail. It that American. Yes, it's conservative America. Shame on you all. Change will happen no matter what. It's inevitable. FOX News is so biased but it's business. They need some kind of audience to stay alive and on the air.

Well promoting the tea parties (that made no sense to begin with since I guess they were protesting against Bush) then promoting Sept 12th with the lady egging the crowd on kinda made it way way to obvious that Fox is biased. Even the White House couldn't stay in place after that fiasco. Then the Acorn thing turned out to be a total sham. I mean how big of an egg was left on Fox's face for that? The owner of Fox practically runs the cops down in Australia. So just think there's alof of people who believe Fox. That's the scary part. That's come right to my family. Split it in half. Mom and I are open minded. (well me more than mom) and my dad and my brother can't get enough of fox. Always watching it. Whereas I was Rachel and Keith and keep myself to democraticunderground com mostly. Simply because I go to all the sites Fox claims are anti american, because they are probably extremely pro america. (media matters, think progress, daily kos etc) And of course who would watch Fox 24/7? Brain turns to mush.
