WASHINGTON (CNN) – First daughters Malia and Sasha Obama were vaccinated last week against the H1N1 flu virus, the White House announced late Tuesday in a post on the official White House blog.
"President and Mrs. Obama have not yet been vaccinated for H1N1," Katie McCormick-Lelyveld, the first lady's press secretary wrote, "and they will wait until the needs of the priority groups identified by the CDC - including young people under the age of 24, pregnant women, and people with underlying conditions - have been met."
McCormick-Lelyveld wrote that the first daughters were vaccinated last week when the H1N1 vaccine became available to Washington, D.C. school children.
"The girls' H1N1 vaccine was administered by a White House physician, who applied for and received the vaccine from the DC Department of Health using the same process as every other vaccination site in the District."
Tuesday's blog post also encouraged the public to check flu.gov in order to learn more about how to protect against the flu.
In an interview on CNN's State of the Union late last month, the president told CNN's John King that the first family would "will stand in line like everybody else," to get the H1N1 vaccine. "And when folks say it's our turn, that's when we'll get it," the president also told King.

Well that's just nice, but is it actually news worthy?
I thought there was a shortage of vaccine??? how can this be??
At least they are getting their shots like the WH recommended everyone else should. I had a really good laugh when I read about Rep. Wilson, whose wife contracted the 'flu', wanting to wait until "everyone else got their flu shot" before he had his! What is he scared of any 'side effects'? The Obamas, once again practice what they preach AND lead by example. I hope the babies stay healthy.
Of course they have. Citizens can't get the vaccine due to delays but rest assured the President's kids are first ion line!
Sometimes I check the Faux News blogs. There was a question about this from a far-right woman, asking if the First Family (though she did not put it that way) was going get the H1N1 vaccine.
Now if anyone was afraid of the vaccine this should put their minds to rest. President Obama would certainly not put his daughters at risk!

As someone who travels extensively and shakes a LOT of hands, the President should be vaccinated immediately – whatever the political fallout. The same is true for the First Lady.
If the President becomes seriously ill, it has effects which extend to the economy and foreign relations.
Do you honestly think these 2 girls weren't bumped to the head of the line because of who their father is?
Also if this had happened to Bushes daughters the press would be losing their minds by now.

Right. And i'm sure it received the same priority as all the other requests too. Given there's a nationwide shortage of the vaccine, it sure looks like they got head of the line treatment.
This is a great example of the government controlled healthcare. No vaccine available, no equipment available for vaccinating the at risk.
Total confusion and this is the promise for healthcare our congress is trying to sell the country. Total disaster!

The president's track record isn't good I've seen nothing but talk. Always doing things a little to late. If he waited to get the vaccine like everyone else would show me his integrity. It now shows me he doesn't take personal responsibility for his decisions.

My daughter and myself are getting the shot. She has one kidney and has had it from birth and I myself am pregnant. I have seen my daughter get the flu every winter and I finally had enough. Too many trips to the emergency room for 102.00 fevers, too many late nights with the nasal aspirator and cold packs! We have the opportunity to prevent infection and it is time to use it!
Republicans will put their spin on it and say that the Obama girl's received their shots ahead of other school age kid's.........Only negativity and doubt spew from the right wing mouth's
President Obama is a true LEADER.
