Christie to Corzine: Call me fat!

Chris Christie wants Jon Corzine to 'man up.'
Chris Christie wants Jon Corzine to 'man up.'

(CNN) - Chris Christie wants Jon Corzine to "man up" and come right out and say the New Jersey Republican gubernatorial candidate is fat.

Speaking on Don Imus' morning show Thursday, Christie called alleged efforts by the Corzine campaign to subtly invoke his weight "silly."

"If you're going to do it, at least man up and say I'm fat," Christie said on the show. "Afterwards [Gov. Corzine] wusses out and says, 'Oh no, no, I didn't mean that, I don't know what you're talking about.' Man up - if you say I'm fat let's go, let's talk about it."

In a Corzine ad released last month, a rotund Christie is shown emerging from a car in slow motion shortly after the narrator declares the former federal prosecutor "threw his weight around" to get government favors.

Corzine has insisted the ad is not meant to be a reference to Christie's weight but rather what the New Jersey Democrat describes as the "special treatment" he procured from his position.

But in an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer Monday, Corzine said that in retrospect, the ad should have used different wording than "threw his weigh around."

Corzine acted in bad taste and is now being called on it. I can't stand Christie but he's right. Now Corzine's stuck in the corner trying to maintain deniability but the truth is he was subtly trying to invoke Christie's weight in that add.

Boy if this guy doesn't sound like a little kid crying in the school yard.......I read the article he is refering to and I took it just as Corzine said "Pushing his weight around" this saying has been around for decades about people that try to use their position or power to get what they want.........and Christie has done a lot of that........now if Christie takes this as him being FAT then he must have a complex about his weight.......if this is the case than lose weight.......but don't start putting words in other peoples mouths as to what you think they meant..........this is how the GOP deals with their issues.......when they don't have anything else to offer us, they give us childish crap like this......

"Man up – if you say I'm fat let's go, let's talk about it."

Is there really anything to talk about?

The sky is blue. Water is wet. Chris Christie is...unhealthy.

"Throw weight around" is an expression that has been used forever, and ususlly in the context of use or abuse of power.

Sounds to me like Christie either: a) will stoop to using ANYTHING for political leverage or b) has some serious insecurity issues.

    Get a life CC

chrisie IS fat, that level of corpulence is indicative of a lack of self control/an inability to make good choices and a level of unhealthyness in both mind and body, many of us carry a FEW extra pounds but this guy is educated and should have the information about how to maintain his health and yet CHOOSES not to, one has to wonder if that sort of behaviour will not carry over to other aspects of his decision making, corzine doesn't need to "man-up" he has made his point without rubbing people's faces in it

Those of you awake and aware in New Jersey.......You know that Corzine has DESTROYED New Jersey.

New Jersey has the highest taxes in the country-state, sales, real estate, etc. Since Corzine took office, the unemployment rate has doubled.

If you vote for Daggett, you are giving your vote to Corzine!!

Help to save your state-vote for Christie!! He has promised tax cuts during his first year in office.

That's funny, I remember a day when the phrase "throwing your weight around" referred to using your power and position to influence others/events.

...but when you say it about an overweight guy, you're obviously just calling him fat.

Christie, this is a non-issue, and good representation of why you are struggling in the polls. what a distraction.

Naturally he would deflect from the main allegations of procurement of special favors and zero in on the weight issue instead, even if he has to take a personal hit to his physical and self image. It might be harder on his self-esteem, but it is easier on the campaign than deflecting accusations of wrongdoing. Addressing that could get messy. Addressing the weight issue instead turns him into a victim. Great campaign advisers!!!!!! Great politician!!!!!

To the voters in NJ if you vote for Corzine you will replace the Minnesotans that voted for Franken as the dumbest voters. This guy has taxed your state more times in his term than most states do in a few decades. Unemployment doubles, real estate taxes double, state taxes increase. This guy makes Obama look like a fiscal conservative.

Americans love people who are big in heart and substance. Picking this details makes Christie small and petty. Its a popular expression, if he said it was not a subtle dig then dont join in even talking about it. Be big and keep your eye on the ball!

Look how Obama always agreed with his opponents during the campaign that references that could be subtly interpreted as racial were actually not. If you must, let surrogates do the push as they have but stay above it. Christie may be big in size but he obviously is small in thought based on this exchange.
