'I don't care what Dick Cheney thinks,' Biden says

Biden says he's not too interested in what Dick Cheney has to say.
Biden says he's not too interested in what Dick Cheney has to say.

Washington (CNN) – Vice President Biden on Friday fired back at criticism from his predecessor, former Vice President Cheney, that President Obama is "dithering" over his decision about whether to send up to 40,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan.

"I like Dick Cheney personally but I really don't care what Dick Cheney thinks and I'm not sure a lot of Americans do," Biden said in an exclusive interview with CNN. "Look at the policy they left us, look at the policy of neglect they left us in Afghanistan, look at the policy we inherited in terms of their foreign policy...I think the President is doing exactly what any president should do."

October has turned out to be the deadliest month of the war so far, and Biden said the president needs the appropriate time to get the strategy right. He said the situation on the ground has changed because the Taliban is "taking advantage of a chaotic election process that took place in Afghanistan."

Biden added, "Any thoughtful president should be sitting down saying, 'Okay what is the strategy we have to employ with these changed circumstances?' And then look at the tactic that will best accomplish that. The President has great faith in the military."

    To DIck Cheney:

Dick, try as you might, you can't change history. You and George were not qualified for the positions you held and listend to misguided advisors. You duped and scared the public into two ill-advised wars that we must now clean up. The best thing you can do is go slowly and silently into the night.

Biden is right-Cheney is irrelevant. He is out of office, and should keep his mouth shut. He was a menace IN office, and his continuing sniping at the the folks really elected on the first try are doing the best they can with the mess they inherited from Bush and Cheney.

    Dick Cheney–shut your mouth.

If Ronald Reagan were alive today to see what has happened to the Republican party, he would be a "Reagan Democrat" himself by now.

  5. Wait, what?

Obama has been utilizing the same strategy as the Bush administration in regards to Aghanistan – same troop levels, equipment, overall mission.

Now the republicans are complaining that each day we continue this soldiers are dying needlessly? God forbid the administration spend some time comtemplating the pros and cons of proposed military action.

If Bush had spend more than half an hour, we would have saved hundred of billions of dollars and the lives of thousands of US soldiers. And we might even have killed Osama, had he taken the time to do it right. Isn't that the guy who attacked us? Maybe we should have gone after him FIRST?

Look at Biden's numbers, most people don't care what that intellectual lightweight has to say either. The United States of America is in very dangerous hands with this corrupt administration.

Cheney is still CEO of Halliburton, if you haven't heard already and that is his main interest, blood money contracts. So why should any American care about what Cheney says as he continues his thirst for blood for the love of money.

Thank you, Vice President Biden, for saying what we're all thinking...only in a much more polite way than we're all thinking it. I'm proud you're in the White House.

YES. I agree 100 percent with VP Joe Biden. Why will you care about what Dick Cheney Says? A man who orchestrated and implemented the Iraqi war. Lied America and Americans into a false war. I think he should be tried as a WAR CRIMINAL not be listened to for advice. So, Joe Biden is right.

Joe Biden is a political hack that steals ideas from others. Has he ever had an original thought? History will be kind to the Bush Cheney admin.

  13. But Cheney is right.......

Bush kept us safe from attack but under Obama/Biden we are in mortal danger....

IEDs are finding their way to Asia and South America right now, so it won't be long before we are all driving our kids to school in Humvees and wearing flak jackets to work....

Remember then that you voted for "no brains" Biden.

Had Cheney been President, the wars would be long over, our economy would be strong, and the US would be the undisputed heavyweight of the world. Because he wouldn't have dithered around – unlike both Bush and Obama.

    Old guy in CA.

You are entirely wrong, but there is probably no way to explain that to you.
Clinton left the country strong economically and politically. That is a fact. Look it up.
Bush drained the coffers and depleted the military.

They were completely different. Clinton was good for America and Bush was bad.

Cheney never was relevant. He was always manufacturing lies and misrepresentations and avoiding things like reality. The Obama Administration is doing exactly what we expected: They're cleaning up the myriad messes left behind by Cheney and Bush, who left us with an economy in the toilet, two false wars costing billions, cronyism, corruption, tax breaks for those who don't need them, no-bid contracts for billions and the worst foreign policy in decades.

Vice Pres. Biden is correct. who cares about dick-head cheney and the failed bush-cheney doctrine. Iraq was an Idiotic mistake, our economy was left a mess, world opinion and respect for the US sank to it's lowest levels, and a well thought out, disciplined and understandable directive never came out of the white house in there unfortunate 8 years of power, who should care about what he thinks now?
